M. Austin | 7 comments I love re-reading well-written books because hindsight allows you to spot all the little gems of foreshadowing and find deeper layers of meaning.
There are some books that can't be fully understood or appreciated in one sitting and those are the ones that definitely warrant a re-read.

message 152: by Ali (new)

Ali Adam (whattheflower) | 3 comments I can't reread books that have plot twists. It's just not the same for me the second time around.

message 153: by Liz (new)

Liz (LizMax) | 5 comments I have one book, Dark Confessions of an Extraordinary, Ordinary Woman, that I've now read 4x since March, but it has special meaning (and its pretty short). It inspired me to clean up my life and end a bad relationship. Every time I feel like I'm slipping back into old habits, I reread it and remember how much better life is now.

message 154: by s.shadereads (new)

s.shadereads I love to re-read a good book. Not back to back or anything but after a while i'll pick it up again and it's like reading it for the first time. You find things that you have missed the first time around and I think sometimes understand things differently going back to it.

message 155: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (thetrisarahtops) I'm a bit of an avid rereader. I reread a lot, mostly because I don't have a continual supply of new books and my local library isn't all that great when it comes to having YA. But it's not just out of necessity, I do reread for the enjoyment of it, and there are a number of books I've read 10+ times, and still love to death. Rereading's never the same as the first time around, I'll agree, but there's a certain magic that comes from having read a book so many times that it's become a part of you. And there's also the opportunity to pick up on nuances and details that you just don't notice the first time around.

So yeah, definitely pro-rereading!

message 156: by Tina (new)

Tina I cannot read a book more than once, except for the Bible.

message 157: by sam (new)

sam (sweet_rhapsody) I will always always reread my books, that is another reason why I buy them instead of borrow or use a library. Some books I find myself wanting to relive again and again and well I do. I believe rereading is a great way to bring back memories and to enjoy the book again.

Yes! Me too. We're so same.

message 160: by Tina (new)

Tina Nice to meet you Ertica!! Welcome to become friends if you like! We can study books of the Bible together!

Gladly!! Nice to meet you too. Well i currently wanting to reread The fault in our star book but its in my friend grasp now. Can't take it away from her.

message 162: by Tina (new)

Tina I'm not sure I have it or not! I buy most of my books used, I'll have to look.

message 163: by Tina (new)

Tina Shoot! The only one I could fine is For Darkness Shows the Stars (For Darkness Shows the Stars, #1) by Diana Peterfreund By Diana Peterfreud!!
LOL!! I'll keep looking!

message 164: by Lacy (new)

Lacy | 2 comments I am a big rereader. There are certain series that I try to read at least part of, if not all of, every year. Harry Potter is one I try to read every year. This is why, like a lot of you, I buy books instead of borrowing. Thank goodness for my great local used bookstore!

message 165: by Kate (new)

Kate (kate-holly) | 5 comments I love to revisit my favourite books every once and a while! Harry Potter is one I have re read the most. I re read them at least once every year when I have the time! But sometimes I don't always re read entire books. I have moments where I would just love to re read a chapter which I am thinking about. I love to buy books over borrowing them - I love to have them there in my room so I may go back whenever I choose and be under no time limit to when I have to read them by!

message 166: by Ren (new)

Ren (renma) I usually re-read books only when I have time to do so. I'm still trying to decrease my TBR list so I've been having so little time to re-read the books I love. :/

message 167: by Danielle's Books (last edited Nov 29, 2015 02:22PM) (new)

Danielle's Books (daniellesbooks) I reread my books so that the story sticks in my brain, to catch details I may have missed on my first read, and because I love to reread. It's kind of like getting reacquainted with an old friend. I am actually currently rereading :

The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1) by Marie Lu

message 168: by American Wolf (new)

American Wolf | 63 comments I think rereading is a good thing because sometimes you catch something you might not of catched the first time. Also reread givesthe thrill back if you know what i mean

message 169: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (notinberlin) I almost never reread books. I only reread Harry Potter and other books or series that are super important for me, but I have too many books to read to be able to reread those I liked, so no, I don't usually reread books, even though I'd like to.

message 170: by Kimmy (new)

Kimmy ୨୧ (kimmreads) | 2 comments I rarely do ever reread books, even if they're my favourite. I feel like I've already experienced all the emotions that I can experience with the book, and it's just not the same anymore once I reread.

message 171: by The Feline Felon (new)

The Feline Felon (bookfeline) I don't think I would reread a book cause then u know what happens

message 172: by Lina (new)

Lina | 539 comments If you really liked the book and left an impression in you.
You should definitely re-read it.

message 173: by The Book Crusader (new)

The Book Crusader (thebookcrusader) | 15 comments I'll probably die before I read all the books I currently own, and I already know that I am going to keep expanding my collection. Hell, I'll probably have acquired a couple of new additions for my collection by the time I finish my errands today.

But even though there are books that I haven't read, I would not hesitate to put them on the backburner for one I already read but highly enjoyed.

It's just like with movies—I have a huge collection of horror movies that I haven't watched, yet I won't hesitate to sit down and watch the original Toy Story (a flawless masterpiece) for the fiftieth or so time.

message 174: by Nihar (new)

Nihar Suthar (niharsuthar) | 66 comments I personally don't like re-reading books because I remember a lot of the main content. Besides, in my opinion, there are so many good books out there that exist that I should just keep exploring everything else rather than staying stuck on the same piece of work :)

message 175: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Definitely! If it's a favorite or I completely forget what happens in a book after a while I'll reread it! 📚

message 176: by Greg (new)

Greg Wagner | 4 comments Some books are like an old friend and I visit them from time to time just for the memories.

message 177: by Alli (new)

Alli Fulgenti I re-read books only when it has been a long time since I've read the book. But only if it was a truly amazing one. I do find it much better than the first time i'd read it because I find so many new things I missed the first time!

message 178: by Ravia (new)

Ravia | 7 comments Definitely! If you love it, read it again!

message 179: by Scarlet (new)

Scarlet I ALWAYS re-read books more than twise if I quite like it and it has been a while since I read it. It's also nice to experience the book again.

message 180: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (writergal123) | 11 comments I have so many new books I'd like to read that I don't re-read often. But I will absolutely re-read when it comes to my favorites. Harry Potter, for example, or the Book Thief. I know I re-read the Lord of the Rings series once because I was pretty young when I first read them and didn't quite grasp everything lol, but I don't think I'd re-read them again anytime soon. I admit I can be pretty lazy when it comes to the longer books.

But really, coming back to a very good book is like coming back to an old friend. It can also be really fun to pick up on foreshadowing you missed the first time round, or other details. I generally re-read things when some time has passed, so sometimes I even find things I just completely forgot about.

message 181: by KatiEllen (new)

KatiEllen I've only just started re-reading books. I prefer waiting a good few years, I remember things differently, completely forget other things. I also have a different view on it, being older. My appreciation for Harry Potter is so different from the first time I read them, I was so young, so much went over my head. I'm definatley enjoying re-reading books.

message 182: by Sarah (new)

Sarah M-M | 5 comments I always re-read stuff even if it's just little parts that I like. It's kind of like listening to the same music again & again. You just end up understanding it better.

message 183: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not able to re-read stuff. Every time I want to re - read something, I see a new book on my shelf which I haven't read and I pick it up.
But the times I do re-read, I only read my favourite parts. So I wouldn't call it re-reading but skimming through.
But cheers to all of you guys who love reading!!!!!!

message 184: by Library Nymph (last edited Oct 08, 2017 11:32AM) (new)

Library Nymph (librarynymph) I re-read my favorites, it's like visiting old friends. : ) Sometimes when you re-read, you see things you missed the first time.
I will also on occasion re-read a book that seems to be popular (like a classic) I didn't care for the first time to see if my opinion of it changed with my age. Sometimes I'm surprised and I will like it the second time. Other times my opinion stays the same, and sometimes I even hate it more! : )

message 185: by Maria Adaway (new)

Maria Adaway (maria-valerie) I used to hard re-reading books for fear of not liking my favourites as much as the first time.

But nowadays I am always re-reading them. I always find more information, foreshadowing and I reason to love the characters more

message 186: by jolie (new)

jolie (jolieve) i love to re-read books if the book gives me certain feelings when i'm thinking about it (if that makes sense) and then i can just jump right in and feel all that again. (probably sounds really weird but yeah)

message 187: by Ayla (new)

Ayla C (aaylac) | 1 comments Nope, I never re-read. Guess my memory is too good for that. :P Only, I sometimes do check on a paragraph or two if I remember something interesting, because I'm learning to write.

message 188: by Anna (new)

Anna Maria | 4 comments I love to re-read good books, it's like revisiting a wonderful memory, you just want to do it for the pure joy of the thing.

message 189: by Khadijah (new)

Khadijah | 52 comments i love to re-read books but i never really re-read the whole book, just my favourite bits, in some books this is nearly every page but I skim read some sections.

message 190: by BarbaraW (new)

BarbaraW | 5 comments Some books which are quite complicated I’ll read again. Some of my favorites I’ll read again and it seems to open up an even better read to me.

message 191: by MissBecka (new)

MissBecka Gee (missbeckagee) I like to revisit at least 1 book every year.

message 192: by Abbie (new)

Abbie If the book left an impression on me, tore my heart out, ate it, spat it out and put it back into my chest, if the book made me smile as I turned the last page... Yes I would read it again!

message 193: by Billie (new)

Billie | 1 comments Yes! I re-read books all the time. Especially when I’m reading a series and it’s been a while since the last book was out. I also like to re-read my favorites from time to time.

message 194: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Avery | 10 comments If I really love it then yes! Have read Harry Potter series 6 times

message 195: by Bshayer (new)

Bshayer Alkuwari (bshayeralkuwari) | 26 comments if i love the book, of course i will re-read it.

message 196: by molly (new)

molly (molsfairytale) | 10 comments I will only reread a book if it’s an absolute classic like the Harry Potter series or Roald Dahl or something like that because I just think of all the books that I haven’t yet read and I don’t want to waste the opportunity to read them!

message 197: by chinami (new)

chinami | 75 comments i could have found another good book instead of having spent time on rereads. so no re reads.

message 198: by Danielle (new)

Danielle Metz | 7 comments the only book i have ever reread was I'll Give You the Sun. and i read it again right after I finished it, i loved it that much.

message 199: by Misty (new)

Misty (intoreadin) | 43 comments For the most part I don't re-read books. For the simple fact that I have way too many books on my tbr pile to back track lol. There are a select few that I've re-read but I can probably count them on one hand. For me once you've read it, that's it, it's over. I think knowing the ending of a book kind of ruins it for me. Part of the fun is the not knowing and the discovery and journey you take with the characters the first time you read a book.

message 200: by Feran (new)

Feran | 20 comments I NEVER RE-READ
