message 101: by Gemma (new)

Gemma | 64 comments I'm like that a lot because I'm always re-reading all my books. I just love them all and I just re-read them all the time.

message 102: by Allison (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 52 comments I've read Traveller by Richard Adams more than once.

message 103: by Gemma (new)

Gemma | 64 comments Well I have read The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices at lease 50 times.

message 104: by Francesca (new)

Francesca Caruso | 53 comments I always re-read my favorite books. Sometimes I'll just read my favorites parts but I love reading the books again.

message 105: by Annabel Rianne (new)

Annabel Rianne (annabelrianne) | 11 comments I only re-read the books I thought were amazing, and then it's already been a while since I read them (so I've forgotten quite a few details). I also like going back to the world of the characters after seeing the movie version (like The Hunger Games & Harry Potter). I can't seem to get enough of them, even though the stories are the same every time! I probably won't re-read the books that are ok, even if I've forgotten what it was about. I guess it's easy to remember your feelings about a book & base your decisions on that!

message 106: by Heaven (new)

Heaven Goehrig | 8 comments it has to be a really good book, not just a 'mesh' kind of book

message 107: by Heaven (new)

Heaven Goehrig | 8 comments *meh

message 108: by Catrin Burgess (new)

Catrin Burgess (meowtron) | 124 comments If I love it I will, but often when I get my own copy of a book I've already read, i'll re-read it. I've read Last Sacrifice more times than I can count. I also like rereading books before the next one in the series or the movie comes out

message 109: by Shy (new)

Shy (shyanner) | 19 comments I don't re-read books because I'm not going to be interested.

message 110: by Sara (new)

Sara (pachusoo) | 5 comments I don't usually re-read a book but if it's been years since I last read it or if I feel in the mood to re-read a book then I guess I would.

message 111: by Shy (new)

Shy (shyanner) | 19 comments Yeah I agree

Milena *call me Lena* (odairsea) | 21 comments I love to re read books! The way i feel about them always change (for the better... mostly)

message 113: by Erin (new)

Erin Vastag I had never really reread a book until I just reread divergent. I wanted to reread it before the movie. I picked up on a lot of details I missed before, but I didn't like it as much as the 1st time because I knew what was going to happen. Also all I could picture for Four was Theo James and it was really annoying.

message 114: by Mik (new)

Mik Yes I re-read my faves

message 115: by Lexi (new)

Lexi Vos (lexie_vos) | 3 comments I re-read my books to get over my book hangovers

message 116: by Unbroken Silence (new)

Unbroken Silence | 22 comments I don't think there is a single book I have read but not reread at least once.

message 117: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Medina I say read it more than once, then you can find things that you missed the first time. I always re-read my books

message 118: by M&M (new)

M&M I've just reread Vampire academy, it's just that every time I read it, it feels like the first time, I've read them at least 10 times.
I've also reread Divergent once, because I didn't remember the story completely, and I wanted to read them again, (Divergent & Insurgent) before Allegiant came out

message 119: by Lauren Carla (new)

Lauren Carla (laurenslibros) | 2 comments I usually can't reread a book, unless it's amazing such as the mortal instruments.

Avid Reader and Geek Girl (avidreaderandgeekgirl) I can't reread many books but I have a few that I reread.

message 121: by [deleted user] (new)

I usually only reread books if I truly adore them. I have read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley so many times that I know chunks off by heart. Abarat by Clive Barker is another one that I could read again and again.

Most other books though, I would probably only read in detail once. I might thumb through to the good parts later but I wouldn't read again until at least a few years had passed so I had forgotten a lot of what happened.

message 122: by Nadia (new)

Nadia Mcdonald (NadiaMcDonald) | 35 comments I don't like to read the same book more than once. Reason being, I love suspense.

message 123: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 5 comments If I really love a book I will re-read it... usually more than once!!

message 124: by Nadia (new)

Nadia Mcdonald (NadiaMcDonald) | 35 comments Why Rachel? It kills suspense! Please convince me how reading the same plot intrigues a reader!

message 125: by Saloni (new)

Saloni (salpal77) | 118 comments I can't reread books ever, unless I've forgotten most of the plot or i'm marathon reading the series. Like i love the PJO series, but I can't reread them mostly because i want my original opinion to stay intact and I don't want to think that I've changed my view on them because I've grown up and become too childish. Does that make sense?

message 126: by Nadia (new)

Nadia Mcdonald (NadiaMcDonald) | 35 comments Your concept makes sense Saloni! And yes I agree that a reader has a book report, or view of the previous book read.

message 127: by Gabrielle (new)

Gabrielle Smith (jazzygrapefruit) When you re-read a book, it's hardly the same experience as when you first read it. With that said I'll re-read usually to pick up things I didn't pick up at first, since I already know and love the characters.

message 128: by Maria (new)

Maria (trappel) I have read my favorite books too many times to count. But normally I'm stuck with reading a book only once.

message 129: by Unbroken Silence (new)

Unbroken Silence | 22 comments If I enjoy a book I will re-read it; sometimes only once or twice, sometimes (as in the case of Harry Potter) nearly a hundred times. I don't see the point in buying a book only to read it in a day and never touch it again. And I quite like re-visiting worlds and noticing things I might have missed the first time. Also, sometimes re-reading a series with hindsight can help you notice subtle hints of a plot twist which comes later.

message 130: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes exactly

message 131: by Emily (new)

Emily (tumbling-into-wonderland) | 1 comments If I really enjoyed a book, I will re-read it. Usually, only once or twice, sometimes a lot more. However, I cannot finish a book and read it again straight away. I have to leave it a long time, until I have almost forgotten what happens in it. Exactly as Unbroken Silence says above, I love love noticing things I didn't pick up the first time such as the subtle hints of plot twists or links to other books.

message 132: by Ciara (new)

Ciara Smith if it's really good then sure I would read a book more than once :)

message 133: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 5 comments Rachel wrote: "If I really love a book I will re-read it... usually more than once!!"

I just always have been that way... I dive into books and get attached to the characters while I'm reading (if it's a good book) -- once the book is over I feel like I've lost friends. I don't re-read it right away but I definitely read them again... it makes me feel like my friends are back ;)
It is the same as watching a movie more than once... which I totally do!

I recently finished reading TFIOS... and I thought it was amazing. So that for example... I will read again!

message 134: by Nadia (new)

Nadia Mcdonald (NadiaMcDonald) | 35 comments Okay ladies, I agree! I experimented with this formula and yes, if a book is intriguing one would love to read it more than once!

message 135: by Tasha (new)

Tasha | 119 comments Of course, you don't get the whole picture after just one read. I've been reading Harry Potter at least once a year for 14 years and every time it's (no pun intended) just as magical as the first time. I'm currently reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels for about the fourth time.

message 136: by Kayla Turner (new)

Kayla Turner | 3 comments I love to re-read books! It's not boring because you never know, you might have missed something the first time you read it. And then if you read it again you might notice what you didn't the first time. I'm always learning something new whenever I re-read a book! ;D

message 137: by Fable (new)

Fable (quirkyblackenby) | 4 comments To me a quality of a good book is it's rereadableness.
If I can't reread it then it may be rated a 1 star lower due to that.

message 138: by April (new)

April | 158 comments I reread my favourite books and my TBR pile gets higher because I usually end up rereading books instead of reading new books! I love rereadig Twilight once a year, as well as the Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles series), Vampire Academy/Bloodlines series, all of my Alyson Noel novels- especially in the summer :)

message 139: by Eleni (new)

Eleni | 4 comments Well for me rereading a book makes me understand how good it really is or sometimes how overrated was it! I ve tried rereading allmost everyone of my books after about a year i first read them and in some cases its ever better than the first time. In other i dont even make it to the end the second time! Moreover rereading saves money and in my opinion makes you understand the story better because its a fact that the first time you just wanna find out what comes next while the second time you really notice the details and sometimes even the mistakes and paradoxes of the story!

message 140: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (NicoleLeeTV) | 32 comments I ADORE rereading my favorite books. If a book is so good that you'd rather read it for the fifth time, than a new book, you know it is without a doubt amazing. I especially love to reread series that I love, like Vampire Academy or Hunger Games or Confessions of a Shopaholic.

message 141: by Kitty (new)

Kitty | 4 comments when I have no book I reread my old new ones aka I restock my library every few weeks

message 142: by Victoria (new)

Victoria | 9 comments I love rereading books its like seeing all your old friends again :)

message 143: by Megan Y (new)

Megan Y (meganxyang) My sister Hannah does a lot of re-reading, and something tells me that I should too :) I'm a super slow reader but I hope to start re-reading books more because I forget a lot of the plots :(

message 144: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Riccio (kaylariccio) | 6 comments I know I should re-read but I don't usually do it! I forget a lot of details and want to reread but finding the time can be hard. My to read list is out of control and I'm trying to get to so many books!

message 145: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (booksandafangirl) I love rereading! I always find it comforting to go back to something that I've already read and loved. Sure it distracts from my TBR pile, but at the end of the day I'm always glad to have reread the book :)

message 146: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't like re-reading books because if I read it again I already know what's going to happens and I like first impressions so if I re-read there might not be any surprises. I also agree there are to many books out there to keep rereading one book. Just my opinion.

message 147: by Kelli (new)

Kelli McMillan (that_reading_swimmer) If I absolutely loved it and it's my all time favorite series then I'll read it again when I can't find any other book because I'm broke and the library doesn't have any books.

message 148: by Anastasiya (new)

Anastasiya Olkanetskaya (greenidmnstr) | 2 comments One of the challenges in reading is finding that good book - whatever that may mean for you - because you need to fight through a whole story to determine if it's something you liked. That's why sometimes when I feel like there's absolutely nothing out there that I will like, I'll go back and reread the things I already love. Sometimes, I'll reread because there was a detail I couldn't remember, and sometimes I'll reread because I miss the experience. Either way, I think rereading is not only a good way to reconnect with something you enjoy and might not remember that well, but it also reveals so much more the second time around. You notice the subtle hints and foreshadowing when you reread that you probably didn't notice the first time around (cause you had no idea what would happen!) and it's that much more rewarding.

Also, it might be good practice to reread a novel that you enjoy from a different literary lens (just to see the author's/character's/story's opinion on a particular issue) or just a technical view (how the author manipulates language). If you're a writer this should help your own technique immensely.

message 149: by Evelina (new)

Evelina (eva_g) | 1 comments if its a good book...then u will enjoy reading it even 10 times...

message 150: by L (new)

L Hodgins (sunnyanddinostomp) | 87 comments I think it's ok to re-read books. I haven't done it very much, but I did re-read the first couple of books of a series that I'd read a few years earlier when I discovered there were five more books in the series. I have also just started reading the perks of being a wallflower again. It is my favourite book and reading it again is just so much more powerful because of all you know about the main character and how much more you can are able to relate to him.
