Currently Reading 2013
;) I've got my copy of
in my hot, little hands and as soon as I'm done with all the must-do's for the day, I'm settling down for some one-on-one Kate & Curran time! :DOne major bonus of being back in the US - I'm back in the land of true two-day shipping! Pause for fan-girl dance
I read these shorts:
and finished listening to
.
Darn, I forgot to order my copy of
but I haven't read a Kate Daniels book since the last one came out....I need to re-read the series but have absolutely no time for that...Just finished
and actually enjoyed it! Again going to try and finish
and possibly start a new book too?
That's one of the series I re-read. I was surprised at how much I had forgotten. Well, not truly forgotten, but the refresher was nice. I just loved seeing their relationship change and grow all over again.I'm reading
and listening to
Steph wrote: "How was Boyfriend from Hell, Barbara? I've started to buy that one several times, but haven't."The first book was ok, the second - meh.
Agreed on the re-read for Kate Daniels series. Just finished
and still not happy....I mean seriously...it's better than the last one but I am still having major wtf momemts.I'm really not sure what to read next...but I think it will be
.
Sandra wrote: "Damn, don't you just hate that!"My thoughts exactly! :( Oh well.
I finished
and would love to re-read it right now. It was SPECTACULAR! Listening to
.
How are you liking Steel's Edge, Steph? I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet but I pretty much loved all the other books in that series.
I've been in a young adult book slump so I've switched back to adult books for now I'm trying to catch up on the sookie books I'm currently on
and have the others on my iPad to take on vacation with me :)
Finished
yesterday, and just had to read the last one
Loving Riley!!!!Melissa, I just finished the last couple of Sookie books last 2 weeks, hope you enjoy them ;)
Finished
which was awesome... and I feel a reading slump comin' on, what can you read that can top "Your Furriness"???
Thanks Sandra, I finished
late last night and started
this morning. These might not make it to vacation lol oh darn I guess I might have to bring the lords of the underworld series instead
Sarah wrote: "How are you liking Steel's Edge, Steph? I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet but I pretty much loved all the other books in that series."I'm really liking it so far, Sarah. The narrator is awesome. I plan to jump back to #3 when I'm done (I accidentally skipped it).
Hope you have fun on holiday, Melissa!
Aw, last Riley. I really miss that series!
LOVED Magic Rises too, Lis. Very hard to top His Furriness!
I'm reading
, the "House of Comarré" finale.
Finished
- ★★★★★. Fantastic end to a fantastic series though I'm sad it's over. First book in the series is free if you want to give it a try - I definitely recommend it!
Finished
last night and loved it. That is the way to finish a series, ahem, some authors should take note *looking at you Ms Harris*!!
Well done to all three of you for completing series (and Melissa for being almost done)! So Ninab and Sandra loved theirs, Steph do you recommend House of Comarre?
;) I'm so jel, that's 2 series now that you've powered through (Riley and Sookie) which I am desperately behind on LOL!
Well, I was desperately behind on them both as well. LOL.I decided to read at least one a month in challenges. Then when I got close to the end, I just had to finish them to find out what happened.
Sandra wrote: "That is the way to finish a series, ahem, some authors should take note *looking at you Ms Harris*!!"LOL! ;) So true.
I would recommend HoC. It's an interesting series with different levels (fringe & nobles) of vampires, a mix of different types of shifters, a ghost, various fae with lots of cool abilities, and humans with abilities including the comarré, "a specially bred human hybrid whose sole purpose is to provide blood and graceful companionship to the vampire nobility." A frustration throughout the series has been that the author switches POV (with many different characters) with each chapter. So, she gets ya on the edge of your seat with one character's story/chapter, then pulls the frickin' chair out from under you and starts another chapter about a different character. She weaves all of their stories together by the end though. I like her writing, but sometimes wish I could stand to jump chapters to get the answers I want faster. LOL!
I finished the finale this AM. It was well-done, but it may have been a little too wrapped up for some readers. By that I mean that every character either got their comeuppance or a HEA. I didn't mind that though; I was just happy she did wrap up the story lines with each of the characters. Some *cough*Harris*cough didn't do that. >;)
I have started the Riley spin-off, but still miss Riley and clan. I should get back to that one actually. I've only read the first book and may find I like it more with each book. Plus, I have them all sitting patiently on my shelf TBR.
I'm almost done listening to
. I really love this narrator. I'll have to see which other series she reads. And, I'm going to be starting
later today for bingo.
Oooh, some good ones here! I really enjoyed the Riley series. I've only read the first book in the spin off and I gave it 4 stars *whispers* but I don't remember anything about it. I haven't read any of her other series either. Huh. I'll add them to Mt. Tbr! I've been pushing Sookie up on the list. I'm so close to being done that I just need to do it! Do any of you watch True Blood? Do you like it?I've moved
up the list! That looks very interesting. And I'm hoping to start
before too long. Thanks Ninab! I added
to the mountain :)Steph, it looks like she narrates the Kate Daniels series. Woohoo! I always love a good narrator! Rosalyn Landor is very good too.
Speaking of narrator's... I'm listening to
. Okay, I WAS listening to it but the narrator killed it for me. He talks in hyphens and periods!! It. was. driv-ing. me. cra.zy!! Of course, as soon as I said I hated it someone posted that they LOVED it and that it gets better. Maybe I'll try again *shrugs*So then I started listening to
. It's hilarious! :) I'm not very far into it though. I'm also trudging through
! These books are amazing. The writing is brilliant! I just don't like part of the story in this one and I keep taking breaks to ease my annoyance. It's still very good though.
I really enjoy all of Keri Arthur's books (Riley author). Some definitely more than others.I've read the books and I watch True Blood. The show is buggin' me. I seem to be one of the only people that have a difficult time separating the show from the books. I get frustrated when Bell does certain things with the characters that seem so far out of the norm from their personalities in the books.
Hope you like House of Comarre. I did. :)
Magic Rises is awesome!
You should try reading Anna instead. I really liked those books - the first more than the second.
LOVE Charley Davidson! She's a riot!
I'm a big Tiffany Reisz fan. Yeah, I know what you mean about that one. It wasn't my favorite of the series so far. But, I did like several bits a lot (I won't share them though b/c I don't want to spoil you or anyone else).
I'm a little more than halfway doe with
and I'm really enjoying if my little miss decides too not sleep to well tonight ill probably finish it.
Barbara, you're certainly getting through the Amelia Peabody series. I loved the first one many years ago, but when I tried to read another in the series last year, I didn't like it. I'm sure it was me. Hope you continue to enjoy them.Reading & nearly finished
for Bingo.
Finished two audio books
and
Starting
but I too feel a slump coming on...must power through it!!!Oh I also finished many comics in the past week :D
Since
I've finished
and
Looks like there is one more book Killer Frost in the Mythos Academy series.
So many series being finished/caught up with! :PSandra (and Steph), how are you liking Mythos Academy? Recommend?
Also Steph, I know a lot people didn't like The Edge books so much, what did you make of them?
Josie, I'm not a YA fan, but I do love Mythos. So many new types of supes - spartans, romans, plus gryphons, nemean lions, rocs.
I like Mythos too. I have some issues with the author's serious info dumps, but other than that, it's a fun, quick read. Like Sandra, I like the large mix of creatures and such.I am a fan of The Edge series. I have noticed it seems to be a love it or hate it series. I have listened to them vs. reading and the narrator rocks! I love the young boys, who we see grow and mature throughout the series. I really like the world IA has built and I'm sad there won't be more to come.
Finished
which was good but not the best one of the series.Felt like a re-read but couldn't decide what, loss of power for 4 hrs due to humungous wind storm, finally decided on
which I haven't read for a couple of years. Really enjoying it all over again :)
I normally never read series books one after the other but somehow I can't stop with this one (same thing happened with Connie's other series).Read
and reading
I know the covers are nothing special but you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.
Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ wrote: "I normally never read series books one after the other but somehow I can't stop with this one (same thing happened with Connie's other series) ..."You know I'm right there with you! And guess what? There is another spin-off GOD WARS and three books you need to read after the HIGH DEMON series...
and I just finished
. Soooooo.addictive I have to know what happens next and there is always a cliff hanger. I think the covers are getting a little better...
I enjoyed it a lot. Took some time to get into the story, though.
