Are you starting it soon? I'd love to hear what you think of it. I have set it aside and may return to it later to see if I can soldier on. But, I'm thinking it's gonna be a rough road. :/ May just have to quit and come up with a polite "not for me" response.

Oh well. Let me know what ya think when you've finished it. Thanks for your help. I'll see how the rest goes and put something together for NetGalley.
That sounds pretty awful!!!! I'm not one for prose and that's what I consider all that extra bumf adjectives. I guess that's why I don't read "literature" very often :D
Good luck with the kiss of death Steph ;)

That's exactly it. It's just really not for me. Augh. I do not look forward to writing up a not-for-me review. But, I gotta do it. I tried to read more and just kept rolling my eyes. Can't even make it far enough in to the smexy bits (if they're in there somewhere) to see how those fair. LOL!
YAY! Knew ya would! I cannot imagine any P-C fan not loving that book, although I'm sure there are some. There's not as much as action as others, but damn, what a fantastic read!
I read
and really enjoyed it. I realized I missed a short (Hunter's Season), so I'll read that one soon. I also started listening to
, which I'm enjoying so far. I've started forming a guess as to what may have Sookie fans in an uproar over the finale. But, I'll just roll with it and get there when I get there. I did have trouble initially getting back into the BOOK characters versus the SHOW characters. AH, I heard that the film is nothing like the book so I have no intention to go see it. I'm listening to the audiobook from the library and I must say it's the best audio I've ever listened to. It's very entertaining.

The movie tie in one has an all-star cast and is amazing.
Mmmm...just checked and it's the Movie Tie-in Edition. The downside of this edition is that it's abridged, oh well.

It was fun trying to place all the voices. They got a lot of great actors for each part. Just the credits at the end takes about 5 minutes.
Finished
and now on to
and possibly
<---can y'all tell me how this one is? Had it recommended and been wanting to read it for a year just finally took the plunge and bought it...

and then gets even better with each book after that.
wasn't my favorite (probably due to the setting most likely), and I considered not finishing it, but I'm definitely glad I continued. I have noticed that people seem to either love this series or hate it, but I think you'll be able to tell by the first book if the series is for you.

. I struggled with book one and didn't read the rest of the series.
Funny you should be reading
Steph, cause I picked up
this morning and I'm about 3/4 through. I can see why some peeps consider this series on the downslide, but I'm quite enjoying it. And I've got Deadlocked from the library to read as well ;)
I actually enjoyed
- -it was a 3.5 star book for me but decent. Nothing that rocked my world but it wasn't bad, better than average.I just finished
and it blew me away! What a fantastic book.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. You've caught up quickly, yah? :) I'm liking Deadlocked as well. I'll probably start the finale soon after finishing this one.
I read a bit more of The Silver Chain. Guess I'll take little bites here and there until I get through it. I really don't like the idea of submitting a DNF to NetGalley.
I also read
, which I liked, but not as much as the most recent one (The Wicked). Still, a decent novella in the series. Getting excited about the upcoming full-length novel in Nov.
I finished
yesterday, now just have to see if the library has the last one :)And I still have to get
ETA: Yes! my library has it, Boo! someone else has borrowed it.
I just finished a re-read of
. That series is Fan-freaking-tastic. I' m starting
for Bingo. Yay! I'm thinking it's going to be hard to top those this month.
Thanks all for the feedback on
, I have started it but I am also reading
and
for a light/trashy read that is turning out to be a decent-ish book...
WOW Sandra! I can't believe you've almost finished the Sookie series. Did you recently start from the beginning or had you read some of them? I've had a lot of the books for years and still haven't got round to reading them though since they're finished and you've nearly done it, it's kind of inspired me to try to make time for them. How do you rate the series?@Steph: I say don't bother with The Silver Chain. Looking at the rating and reviews it seems a crap book. So many good ones to read!
Josie, I'd read the first 5 or 6 (all the ones that I owned) last year then thought I better read the rest (got these ones from the library), after all the True Blood talk etc. Mind you I've haven't seen any of TB. So 1 more to go plus a couple of extraneous novellas.I quite liked the series and for me reading them fairly close together I didn't get the let-down feeling so many others did. I didn't mind the fact that nothing was happening, it actually made it feel more real. All the day-to-day happenings interspersed with all the supernatural stuff.
Thanks Sandra! Yeah, if I started I would likely read them back-to-back. I'm going to try to read them soon, glad you enjoyed them :)

Go, Sandra! I'm still listening to #12, but have #13 lined up once I'm finished.I've been reading
for BSB. While it has some similarities to some of the other post-apoc zombie books I've read (and liked), I am really liking it. The characters feel real and some (MC included) are definitely some I'd love to have around if something like that ever happened. Thanks, guys. I'm going to take your advise and dump
. This book is so not for me. I'll take a look at the reviews after I come up with something for mine. My first DNF for NetGalley, but I'm sure they see it occasionally.
Sandra wrote: "Reading

Steph I have had that book (Taking on the Dead) on my kindle for almost a year now. I need to get to it.I am listening to
-- it is fun and very Hollywood (so while not deep it is fast moving).I just finished
and loved it! I love this author.I am starting

I love the Lupi series too. Eagerly waiting for Ritual Magic -the next book out in September.

I need to get back into World of Lupi too. Don't remember why, but I stopped around book 4 or so. Hope you like Taking on the Dead, Regina. I did, but had some issues (shared them in my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/..., if you're interested). I'll be continuing on with the trilogy b/c I really like the world she's created and how it all plays out.
I really enjoyed 5th Wave. Glad you are too.
I bailed on The Silver Chain, posted a modest nonreview at NetGalley, and happily deleted it from my Kindle. Phew.
Just about to wrap up the audio of Deadlocked and start Dead Ever After.
I may have been a bit critical, but I did enjoy it. And, I'll be reading the rest of the trilogy. I did like the world and the characters. Review is up.
Oh, sorry. LOL! Actually, I'm liking it. It's not the best of the bunch, but definitely not the worst. A solid 3-stars, at this point. It's been a trip trying to keep the book and TV show characters separated in my head as I am reading this one while watching the show every week. Really makes me realize how much is different in the show. I read book #11 in 2011, so it's been awhile since I've spent time in Charlaine's Bon Temps.
Finished
and loved it! Darynda never fails to make me LOL. And this one even brought tears to my eyes. *sigh* The book just wasn't long enough. These books should come with a warning: Do not read in public, unless you're cool with *snaughling.

and I am so facking pissed...so now I don't know if I will be currently reading the next one or just starting on some other book that wont make me want to throw it into the wall...

and it is waiting for me at work (the bookstore) and yet I still can't help but feel betrayed, Jean. I don't care how she fixes this, she still took away my trust (much like Ethan does with Merit...wonder where that character trait comes from...) I am still going to read it, but I am pissed for this night lol
Ellese wrote: "I have ordered Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) and it is waiting for me at work (the bookstore) and yet I still can't help but feel betrayed, Jean."You're totally justified in your pissed-off-ness. I was unfortunate (or maybe fortunate) enough to already know the big spoiler before I read that book (I was really pissed about that slip-up though - stupid Facebook needs spoiler tags), so it probably helped me deal with it. Maybe you need a humorous book next...
