I'm halfway through Dirty Magic and really enjoying it. I enjoy when authors play around with their genres a bit and Jaye Wells is certainly doing that by mixing police procedural and urban fantasy. Much like I enjoyed Kelley Armstrong's mixing of mystery and urban fantasy in Omens. It wasn't the WotO nor should it have been just like Dirty Magic isn't the Sabina Kane series. New stories to tell, new characters to get to know. I look forward to finishing it and reading the next.

I had never heard of them but seeing how you devoured so many in a short time I think I should check it out lol

There seems to be some styles I love and others not so much I cannot quite figure it out.
Let me know what you think of the Iron Duke I have owned that book for a few years and never picked it up
LastBreath, I have a so-so appreciation of Steam Punk. I quite liked The Iron Duke but haven't bothered to read the rest of them at this point, though I do own a couple more books. I did really enjoy The Parasol Protectorate Series, first book, SoullessDawn, don't know if I was just in the mood for this type of book or not. Sorta reminds me of the Breed series.

Oh joy I like Breeds and New Species so that could work well
Dawn, that's the feel of Skin Walkers, Breeds & New Species, though they haven't come out to the rest of us, there is a malevolent bunch hunting them.On to February reading and going for something dark to start the month off
Definitely got the creep factor going.
Dawn wrote: "Sooooo Sara what did you think about Up From the Grave??"I thought it was a good ending to the series. I don't think there will be any outrage like there was for the ending of the Sookie Stackhouse series.
My favorite parts involved Ian, Spade & Denise, and Vlad.
I'm odd in that I read the first book of the series, all of the spinoffs, most of the short stories that appeared in anthologies, and then the last book of the series. Even without reading the in-between books the plot was easy to follow.

I love the Nightside series.
was SOOOO GOOD. I highly enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading more books by this author. Now I'm onto
(also for my Birthstone colour challenge) and have to say so far its looking good!
Mike wrote: "...I love the Nightside series. "The first one felt awkward does it pick up as the series goes on?

Good!! Totally glad to hear it
I've nearly finished Something from the Nightside and I've gotta say, I loved the 60's Coke and the casual mention of the 5 Tracy brothers and comments like "the plaque rats go around in pairs cause they're frightened."It really reminds me of Kolchak: The Night Stalker TV show, from way back. The action is very TV episode-like as well, like it'd fit between ad breaks.
It does pick up as it goes. I remember reading the first one and feeling like I had been thrown into the deep end of the pool, but long running plots and relationships start to emerge fairly quickly in the series.
I've finished it and I can see what you mean Mike. Plots and relationships will keep me reading the series.
Sandra wrote: "Started
and couldn't stop reading, till I realised it was 3.30am and thought I'd better go to bed. LOL."Ok that's weired cuz
used to be the first book in that series. I've read it and have what used to be number two Leto. Looks like she changed the order??? Or does GR just have them marked wrong?
Nope Alisa, the author is writing the books out of order. There are a couple more to be done before Conn, according to her website, but she's writing York & Gauge at the moment which follow Monroe. Also you'll like Something From the Nightside series, nice and dark.
Mike wrote: "It does pick up as it goes. I remember reading the first one and feeling like I had been thrown into the deep end of the pool, but long running plots and relationships start to emerge fairly quickl..."Good to know I always meant to read the next one it felt like first book syndrome
I haven't been on in awhile but I've been reading a lot. I read
, I also read
which was a free book on my kindle. That was actually pretty good. I just finished
which I really liked. And now I'm reading
. I've been a busy reader ever since my husband bought me my kindle lol.
I just finished Afterlight. I can't say I was overly impressed with it. The whole thing was just a little flat for me. Next on the list I have Up From the Grave, but I have to finish a couple from my backlist challenge so Mrs. Dalloway is technically next.
After some much need sleep, I'll be starting Wild Things, book 9 in the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill! Yay!! I only discovered this series in December or November and I'm so in love with Ethan. He's tied for my heart with Eric from those super stupid Sookie books. I'm guessing Ethan will win since he still has another book or two to keep working on my heart and CH has tarnished Eric forever.
LastBreath wrote: "Taking a break from The Iron Duke to pursue a new favourite of mine Working for the Devil"If you read the sequel let me know. I haven't read it but have been wanting to.

Lisarenee wrote: "I am reading:

in paperback,
on my kindle app,
on the car stereo, and
on my nook.
I have read
which was wonderfully creepy
which was cute but it needs a bit of work in my opinion. Now reading
Sandra wrote: "Yay! What a good husband!! LOL." Yes I was really excited to get the kindle :). And it's probably one of my favorite gifts he's ever bought me. Finished
which was okay but I liked the first one better. Now I'm back to a real book for a bit with
because I didn't see the point in buying a book on my kindle that I already owned in actual book form. And I needed a Cat and Bones fix.
Erica wrote: "Finished

Dawn wrote: "I was one of the rare people who really liked the second book. The next one, #3 was one of my favorites too.

For me though that made it unique you know normally in a book they seem to find a way around it instead she is outed like a bit of a freak.
Dawn wrote: "That totally sucked to be called out like that and on television no less. Especially loved the quip of calling out to Ben, her lawyer.

Really they were so cute
Karena wrote: "I'm in the middle of Wild Things, but trying to drag it out since it'll be awhile until the next."Does that one start off right after Biting Bad or is there like a few months??
Dawn wrote: "Karena wrote: "I just finished Afterlight. I can't say I was overly impressed with it. The whole thing was just a little flat for me.
