message 1663: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments I went for 3*, harsh but it just wasn't quite up to the standard of my other 4* books. However, I wouldn't argue that it wasn't worth the read.

Current Stats:

Team Books Read/Goal* % of Goal % of 2,013
Team A 1663/6409 = 25.9% 82.6%
Team B 1770/6385 = 27.7% 87.9%
Team C 1794/6321 = 28.3% 89.1%
Team D 1567/6375 = 24.5% 77.8%

Goal totals adjusted, subtracting people who never signed up, or never posted a book.

If your Team is on track, it would be at 24.6% of Goal as of today.

Note: Teams A & C’s adjusted totals have changed because people changed their personal goals (some up, some down). Interestingly, while Team B members also adjusted their goals, they all managed to still keep the same Team goal. Team D’s hasn’t changed b/c Captain Rebecca has been so on top of things, she has been notifying me of their updates as they happen.

message 1670: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments I finished reading Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks and Tiger Lily Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson today.

Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend would probably fit in the 10th category for April's mini challenge because the main character is abducted and his whereabouts is hidden, so that's a huge lie, especially by the perpetrator, and the perpetrator also cons others into thinking she is a trusted person, which she isn't.

Tiger Lily would fit into the 2nd category; it's the story of Peter Pan's first love, Tiger Lily, as told through the perspective of Tinkerbell.

I loved Tiger Lily. 5 stars.
Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend I gave 4.5 stars to but almost didn't continue reading it because of the beginning. I'm very glad I kept with it. What a surprising novel!

★ gwiz ★ (ggwiz) | 760 comments Hope wrote: "Can I read Warm Bodies, for the toxic earth?"

Hope, I think I'm the one to answer your question this month as Lisa Kay is busy (but we didn't really go into that part of the challenge details tho :D ). I would say that the Toxic Earth is suppose to be a cover and after looking at all the Warm Bodies covers (there's 3) I would say that it doesn't look like a toxic earth. One's a stylized brain, one is someone (R?) on a road with red fabric (?) flowing away, the the last is a couple looking at each other.

But, you can use it for #3 as Zombies are slobs and don't do housework. Good book hope you enjoy it :D

♥Robin's♥ March “C Us Win” Challenge

Duration: March 1st through 31st. Any book read since then counts!

1. Luck - All books with “luck” in the title, the series name, or a major theme, count.
2. Time - Time Change (since we do Spring forward an hour on March 10). So, Time
Travel books, or anything with a watch or clock on the cover, count.
3. Lion/Lamb: March is “in like a lion; out like a lamb.” We’ll count books with
an animal on cover, or one where an animal plays a pivotal role in the story-line.
4. Wind: March is usually windy so generally a good time to fly kites. All books with
bright colors, or diamond shapes, or is set in Chicago, (known as “The Windy City”)
    will count.
5. Women’s History Month: All books with a strong female character as a Main
Character or is book about a notable woman in history, count.
6. The Girl Scouts: Founded in March, 1912. So, count books with a character that
bakes, cooks, works with girls, or otherwise deserves a badge. Even a book that
has food that you could make cookies with on cover, as they are known for their
    cookies!
7. First & Third: March used to be the first month of the year! First in a series, or the
    third, will count.
8. Hylad Monath/Hraed Month: The Anglo Saxons used to call March by this
name, which means “stormy month” and “rugged month,” respectively. All books
with stormy/rainy weather on the cover or “rugged” man **sigh** count.
9. Summer Ending/Spring Coming: Some of us are experiencing the End of
Summer (Australia), some seeing the Coming of Spring (America). So, any titles with
“Summer” or “Spring” in them - or any covers that depict signs of them, count.

I didn't get to it until today (April 1) cuz got tied up in the Game of Thrones. Finished it and now have to wait for the next one that's suppose to come out in 2014. Waiting for the next book in a series just sucks.

Melissa (ladybug) | 1048 comments I finished quite a few books the last few days of March. I finished A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (The World's Best Reading) by Betty Smith Loved it and even though it has Anti-semitism running through out it, that was true to the times. I have also finished A Dead Red Heart, #2 in the Dead Red series by R.P. Dahlke but the grammar, spelling and sentence structures left a lot to be desired. Finished Ruthless Game (GhostWalkers, #9) by Christine Feehan I love most all her books and this series does not disappoint and The Loves of Judith A Novel by Meir Shalev which didn't make any sense. I kept being lost and trying to understand what exactly he was saying was a pain to say the least. This may have been because of the translation though. Last book elegable for this challenge was St. Patrick's Day Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery #14) by Leslie Meier . I am currently reading Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins and will be starting another William Shakespeare comedy as an audio selection. :D

★ gwiz ★ (ggwiz) | 760 comments All who are doing the April's Challenge. I do believe some of you have finished some books towards this challenge but there was some of March Challenge updates mixed in and I don’t know which one's go to the April's totals except for Skandia Dime Store Magic (and mine).

If you any books so far for April could you please repost and let me know what one's to put in my records for next week's update. I'll keep an eye out for any books to include after this post #1704.

Please put the book cover/s first at the top of your post for copy and pasting (like Lisa Kay had you do) then let me know what category each is in so I know that it is to be included in the challenge :D

Just so you know ahead of time in regards to this: I am way behind simply because I have been reading a lot of shorter books that do not meet the minimum page count as I needed them for challenges in my other groups. Sorry :( I should have some books coming up that I can add to my shelf here : ) A lot of the books I have been reading lately fall in the 100-150 page range which are the page requirements for challenges in two of my other groups LOL.

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1193 comments Well...I don't think Twice Tempted (Night Prince, #2) by Jeaniene Frost will fit the April challenge.
But, I just finished this book about suicide so it fits for the Blues!

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
