Alyssia, this is a bit of a stretch, but if you like Ender's Game, the third book in the series is a good 'X' book (Xenocide) and I liked it a lot, it had a very compelling representation of Chinese culture in addition to the sci fi stuff. But you could never read it before Speaker for the Dead that would be just wrong.

My 'X' book is Dawn because it is book one in the Xenogenesis series, and Sheri's rules for this challenge allow series names.

I think I should only count one of Grafton's alphabet books though. I've read most of them since January, but that hardly seems fair since they would automatically cover A-W....

I don't know about "fair" but I don't think I would eliminate books for the alphabet challenge just because... well, just because they happen to be the perfect books for an alphabet challenge!

Too bad she hasn't "finished" the series yet, though. Reading Grafton A-Z would be a great year project!
