but im reading the hardcover of this one...its always to remind myself where my love for books started
It took me a a couple of years after they came out to convert over to the ereader - thought I would miss the smell and feel of my pages. I have never looked back and would have to be in a desperate spot to read a physical book these days, lol.
I have a kindle fire and I love it but i will always prefer hard copies of books. The thing with kindle or other ereaders is the uncertainty of one's ownership of the books, the possibility of losing all the books you have bought and losing your money terrifies me and apparently it has happened to a number of ereader owners.
I love reading from a hardcover. I love the written word on paper. I love my library. I am working on building a nice library full of hard copies. I also love looking at my library which I have set up in a spare bedroom. They are easy to loan out and I like having the physical book in my hand.
would have loved the hardcover; however my pocketbook was screaming "e-reader for $12.99" lol. I might still buy & add to my library later.
I'm old-fashioned. I prefer hard and soft cover. I still don't own an iPad yet, but know they're here to stay and will probably end up getting one. But there's nothing that compares to reading a book, touching the pages, turning back the pages to review something you read the day before. This is the way books have been meant to be read.
I love the hardcopy (paperback or hard cover) because I like the feel of turning the pages of a book in my hands. In this technological age that's probably considered old-fashioned....but I prefer to call it classic.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, three kindles ( as a matter of fact I bought everyone in my family a kindle fire Hd for Christmas, total of six ). But, I am constantly in the book store, ordering from Amazon....because the feel, smell, and sound of the pages turning pull me into that far away place, where I feel comfortable & relaxed. Remember the days when you were little and went to the book fairs at the school, all excited over that Curious George book or Nancy Drew....aww those were the days. But of course the e-reader is convenient and slim, good for the airplane, bus, cruise ship, or train.

I like that I can hold the e-reader in one hand and change the page and stir my spaghetti sauce with the other!
e-reader is handy and progressive yes, but there is nothing like the feel of that hard copy in my hand. I will not give that up until they ban hard copy books.
Kelly, love that I can hold the reader and nurse at the same time, hard to do with a book. Also I don't lose my place because the little one thinks it is fun to take my book mark out of my book.
I love books, paperback being my favorite. I can get lost in a book store. There is nothing like going to the beach with my favorite paperback or sitting on the porchswing at home with the pages folded down.

Hands down, no contest, hardcover or paperback. Much easier on the eyes.I like to share my books and actually own them where I can see them at home.
Love my ereader. I have the 2nd kindle, I was going to change it for the fire; but I like the texture of the screen and that it's black and white like a real book.
One thing I love about my kindle is that it doesn't get heavier, no matter how many books I pile in there! Moving next time will be so much easier, haha. But I do love the feeling of holding and moving through a physical book. That's where the library comes in too!
I love my Kindle, but I still check books out of the library every now and then. What can I say...:)
At first I had a hard time getting used to my e-reader, but now that I have, I prefer my Kindle Fire. I can take it everywhere with me and I never ever leave home without it! I have hundreds of books on it and I always have my favorite selections available at my fingertips. Can't go wrong with that!
Kelly wrote: "e-reader is on my wish list - for those that have one do u all miss holding a book?"No, I don't miss holding a book. Once you get used to the flat screen of the e-reader, you will love it, and you will love the portability and that fact that your entire book collection is always with you.
E-Reader! So happy to not have the book clutter at home and the ability to bring everything I'm reading with me without breaking my back!
A year ago I would have said nothing beats a hardcover. However, I got a Nook Tablet for my birthday and I love it!
I have a Nook and a Kindle and I borrow books from my local library and download directly onto my ereader.
First, there is no such thing as "book clutter". That said, my mother gave me a kindle as an early Xmas gift and I surprisingly love it, use it every day. Some books are more accessible as e books, and who minds instant gratification? At the end of the day, my Hattie is a hardback and that is what my heart belongs to. My hands, and shoulder bag beg for the kindle...
I never thought I would say this, but my kindle fire. It took a while to get used go but I love being able to look up words and download books immediately. From anywhere!
Kindle fire for sure!!! I love reading.g in bed with the lights off and watching the snow fly outside my window.Reminds me of when I use to sneak the flashlight to read after bedtime when I was a kid!!!!
I tend to read fast, so when one is done, I like to have the next one there ready to go and I don't like to wait for it. So, these days it's easier to read on my Nook. I can carry lots of books at one time and they don't take up physical space which is at a premium in my apartment. However, I do lose my willpower every now and again and buy hardcovers and paperbacks when I see them for a really good price. I'm not really picky about it; the e-reader is just more convenient.

I have three bookshelves full of books - started reading this one on my new iPad (Christmas gift, lucky me). Definitely a different experience. I'm more tempted to skip on with the tablet. Don't think it'll stop me buying books but I download a lot of info and it opens up the world for sure.
I agree with you on the e-reader, tablet, Ipad stuff. I love all of my gagets and I think of the one thing that really makes me feel good about them. They are easy to dust. Yes I have been following this discussion from the begining it fasinates me. pltdc
I love my Hardcover books. The floorboards in my bedroom are starting to buckle from the weight of them, but I love my Hardcovers.
