Irene (reniemarie) | 3 comments I like either reading a regular book while I'm out or reading from my computer screen while laying in bed at home.

True.

message 453: by Vickie (new)

Vickie Greenway | 1 comments Hi! I am Vickie. I enjoy reading from all three, my Kindle, paperbacks, and hardbacks. I love holding books and feeling the essence of them throughout the story. I also love physically seeing the covers. At the same time, the ease and technology of the Kindle works very well for my schedule. I travel often and the Kindle is light and easy to carry in my purse. I can start reading anytime, even from my phone Kindle app, if necessary. I can gather information like highlighting and notes quickly on the Kindle and share it with others for research and discussion. It is quite appealing to connect quickly and be so efficient with my reading.

message 454: by Willett (new)

Willett Thomas | 7 comments I'm very old school. I prefer paper. I like the feel. I also, when it's shared, like reading about the font choice and any other geeky things about book's printing. But for travel, a tablet's the way I do it. It's certainly better than lugging a tote bag filled with books and mags through airport security.

message 455: by J.M.K. (new)

J.M.K. Walkow | 7 comments Author's advice, how to read Blazing Night on Google Play: buy the novel, set a large monitor in front of a window with a great view, select your favorite equipment in front, jump on it, read and exercise 20 minutes every day.

message 456: by Austin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Austin Jackson | 2 comments Hardcover!

message 457: by Karl (new)

Karl Drobnic | 66 comments I find reading on a computer screen easier and easier since I can set the font size where it's comfortable for me for whatever situation I'm in.

message 458: by [deleted user] (new)

I prefer paper. Hardcover gets too big and heavy for me but paperbacks are perfect. There is just something about holding a paperback and reading that way that is just right. Unless someone wants to gift me an e-reader so that I can make a proper comparison??????

message 459: by DeAngela (new)

DeAngela (mizzde) | 2 comments I prefer e-reader, but only because it is easier to travel with and I can make sure I dont duplicate. In the last month I have added the majority of my books here and what I have learned is that I have quite a few duplicates. So as I start to get rid of them, can move to my kindle and save some space in my home.

I like reading an actual book as well, but I find myself reading even more with the e-reader since it's easier to hold and keep my place. I can just throw it in my bag and be on my way!!

message 461: by Richard (new)

Richard Andrei (richard_dgreat) | 1 comments i really prefer softbound but it can get a little costly buying every now and then so yeah, im reading on my tablet.

Carolyn (carly1967) | 3 comments paperback is my preference

message 463: by Sofia (new) - added it

Sofia | 1 comments Nothing compares to the touch and smell of a book!

message 464: by A. (new)

A. Micheaux (noliacrown) | 3 comments Still have tons of HC but e-readers make it so convenient to carry tons of books!

message 465: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Kimbrough (Shrimper) Audio Books

message 466: by Teena (new)

Teena (teenacor) | 2 comments I love hardcover, softcover and audio books. I suspect for travel I will use my tablet for the ease of not packing several books with me, but the feel and smell of a 'real' book is magic....

message 467: by Teena (new)

Teena (teenacor) | 2 comments Hi. I am an avid reader of many genres. I am currently working on writing my first fiction book. I now have an even greater respect for the works that have already been produced by others. Have a wonderful day filled with imagination and story, Teena

message 468: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Sastroredjo (lievedebs) | 1 comments I love reading and I will read everywhere I can get it. Love books, the feel, the smell, everything, but I will read a book any way I can

message 469: by EVON R. (new) - added it

EVON R. (ehalladay01) I like the hardcover mostly, cause that how I grew up reading books. But I am learning to read the other ways too. It just takes time...... I was out of typing for awhile my phone keyboard wouldn't work and the main computer was down but I am back now....

Rachel Frank (rachelfrank) Kathryn wrote: "I prefer to read hardcover (the smell of books is amazing!) but often read off my e-reader for connivence"

My husband often gives me strange looks when I smell my paperbacks lol. So I'm glad to know there are others like me ;) The past couple years I have been reading more and more on my kindle. This has been for convenience, lower price of the books, access to indie books, and my dog discovered as a puppy that he loves to eat anything made of paper week!

message 471: by Tri Ahmad Irfan (new)

Tri Ahmad Irfan (irfan3) | 1 comments Hard Cover, then E-Reader. :)

message 472: by Austin (new)

Austin Kit | 2 comments Living overseas makes paper books difficult. They are hard to find, weigh more. Having the on my iPad is so much easier. I do like paperback and try to read them on the beach or over the summer when I'm back in the states..

message 473: by Alcqueline (new) - added it

Alcqueline (goodreadscomarchelans) | 1 comments I am a big fan of e-reading. I do not have to carry several books or magazines around with me. However, the one drawback to e-reading is recharging them after hours of reading. I become impatient while reading with a cord attached. It makes me feel bound to the physical space I am reading in. I still love reading more technical material from an actual book, every now and then.

message 474: by Kitty (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kitty Johnson | 2 comments I love hardcover but if I had ereader, I would use. I would have room for my books.

message 475: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Wie | 3 comments OBC 2.0 wrote: "We want to know how you're reading The Twelve Tribes of Hattie. What's your preference?"
I like the feel of a book in my hands.

message 476: by Marcy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Marcy Cahill | 1 comments I used to prefer a real book but since my babies were born, my kindle is more practical, as it's not as easy to tear pages out of an e-reader.

message 477: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinjoslyn) | 1 comments I love holding my book. There's something about smelling and turning the pages of a book that makes it feel like a book. Never tried an e-reader or kindle before so not sure whether I would or wouldn't like it.

message 478: by Martina (last edited May 18, 2013 12:14PM) (new)

Martina Leslie | 2 comments Although my home is covered in Hardcoverd books (nothing beats the smell) I find myself mostly reading on my iPhone. So I'd have to say e.reader

message 479: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Campbell (elliecampbell) | 2 comments E reader on holiday and in the car. Paperback by my bed

message 480: by Esha (new)

Esha Patel | 1 comments Given I'm constantly switched on to technology at work and at home by way of phone, computer, tv it's great to switch off and turn the pages of a hardback/paperback. Haven't succumbed to the e reader and don't intend to!

message 481: by Christa (new) - added it

Christa | 1 comments Still love hardcover, but my last five books have been from the Kindle Fire

message 482: by Sarah (new) - rated it 5 stars

message 484: by Karen (new)

Karen Boyce (goodreadcomkarenkellyboycecom) | 2 comments I am an older person and have always loved the feel, the smell, the very weight of a good hardcover book. However, since I got both a Sony Reader and a Kindle I am hooked. I throw it in my purse, read whenever I get the chance, order books instantly, and find that I have doubled my reading! I wonder if in ancient days the people cried for papaya rolls. When I love - love a book I order it just have it on my shelve. e-books are not only the future, but the present! I agree completely, Patrice! I use technology for so much, but there's still nothing to me like the feel of the book pages in my hand, and the ability to read a scene and then sometimes turn quickly to the cover to see something in an image there that now makes perfect sense. I especially think hard copy books are vital for children's books. That tactile experience can't be matched with a click.

Lisa (lwilson8899aolcom) | 1 comments I love to use my e-reader!

message 487: by C.J. (new)

C.J. Heck (cjheck62) Reading on a Kindle, tablet, or Nook device are certainly the new rage and I have tried them ... but for me, nothing can compare with reading a physical book.

I don't know, there's just something special about a book -- the weight of it in my hands, the anticipation of what will happen next as I'm turning a real page, the smell of the paper and ink, and more importantly, a book creates a personal relationship with the author. As I hold the book, I can feel the weight of their words and characters and the story between its covers.

Oh, and batteries are not required ...

Well said, CJ! I agree wholeheartedly. There's a sensual experience you just can't get with a kindle etc.

message 489: by J.M.K. (new)

J.M.K. Walkow | 7 comments I love to read text of a living author, check her web page, see what she is up to now, how she looks, then back to reading, must use many devices at the same time

message 490: by Janice (new)

Janice (jgcappell) | 2 comments I love the written word, on paper in a book for me please! I love owning hardcovers, purchasing them used. Used books from libraries is the best. I have them from all around the USA and some from Canada as well. I hope that printed books are always available for those like me that enjoy reading an actual book!

message 491: by Grace (new) - added it

Grace | 1 comments I have to admit I love my ereader. It is very light and you can carry loads of books on it. I commute to work and this is when I do most of my reading so it's very convenient.

Diamond Drake (diamondthewriter) I still prefer hardcover but I do love the convenience of having a kindle app on my computer.

message 496: by Jessie (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jessie Sagers | 1 comments I prefer e reader because I like being able to have multiple books on it instead of caring around the actual books. But I do still enjoy hardcover books.

message 497: by Kelly (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kelly | 1 comments I love my e-reader, especially when travelling

message 498: by Kassandra (new)
