Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Lol! Didn't you say you 'accidentally' finished it? Weren't you supposed to be grading papers or something?

I read through chapter 18 tonight. Oh my God I was laughing so hard! I loved the part with Timmie and her mom and then Francesca...hilarious!
Hmmm…what to say? Cat and Bones are definitely hot together.

Compare to say ... Vlad? I mean, yes, we always find things to like in our stoic male lead who seduces the lady with his strange self-assuredness.
But Bones is not terribly stoic. He's FUN.
He's like Hazael as a sexy, accented vampire man.
oooh. hmmm.
back to grading with me.
The narrator is ok. Bones's voice is not want I would what I invisioned. The voice she uses doesn't ooze sexuality.

I like Bones's comment "Orgasm for the Eyes" about Cat. Sheri, you beat me. I listened up to Chapter 16.

Thena I'm planning on starting "the iron druid " series so we can gab all about that as well! I'll write my thoughts when I actually stop reading:)

Yay! I haven't had a lot of people to talk about them with so that will be awesome!
Okay, so today I blew off all of my 'responsibility' and finished this book instead. I did not feel like cleaning. It was just dishes and laundry…ugh. Maybe some homework, too. Guess I'll have to do it this afternoon.
So I really liked this book. It was a bit different from what I was expecting. I guess I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but Cat was much more…innocent, naive, human maybe, than I had thought. I'm sure Bones will be changing that :) I wonder what Bones is going to think about her working with the government. Nothing good can come of that, I'm sure. I cannot wait to get to the next book now. I seriously love books that make me laugh. Twice this morning I laughed out loud and scared the poor dog (Leigh) who was laying with me, and then my daughter wanted to know what was so funny – she's 4, so I didn't explain to her about stuffing the vampire in the closet. I didn't want to give her nightmares :)
Oh how I hate Cat's mother. She just needs to die and get it over with. Poor Cat, living with all that guilt of something that was never her fault. Cat just needs to tell her off once and for all and be done with it. I'm glad she finally had the balls to yell at her and make her realize it was partly her fault for encouraging Cat go after the vamps in the first place…
I thought it was interesting when her mom brought up the point of Bone's possibly wanting to change Cat. I had not even thought about that, I guess because Cat is already half vamp. Don't tell me if she gets changed later or not…but maybe if she keeps drinking his blood she would stay young?? Oh yeah, and Bones showed a lot more emotions than the tough alpha male usually does in these types of books. I'm not sure if I liked that or not.

I was so angry at Cat's mother by the end of the book! I wanted to smack her and shake her. Ugh.
Are we buddy reading the whole series, or just this book? I want to read these again so bad now that I might have to blow off my December pick it for me challenge book. ;-)

I agree with that. It seems there's always a 'why' behind the actions. Though I've only read the first book so don't have a deep understanding of Bones yet, he seems just to take his own advice...he accepts himself and doesn't apologize for it.
I wouldn't mind going through the whole series. What do you guys think? We talked about doing the whole series, but nothing was ever decided. Leigh, how many of the series have you read already? Or are you re-reading?

Lol! Something else I noticed...Stupid, but hey...Cat had to use the bathroom. Seriously, have you guys ever noticed in books with all this action happening and the people are nonstop on the go, and no one ever has to stop to use the bathroom? They must have bladders the size of Rhode Island! If it were me, we would be in the middle of a high speed chase down the interstate after vampires who had just kidnapped a young girl to drain her blood, with werewolves chasing after us trying to eat us, and I'd be like, hey can you pull over at the next rest stop? No trees for me!

LMBO!

I would be re-reading and happy to do so. Already have the second on the ipod. I read all of them but this time around I will be listening to them.

I can't wait for the next installment of Vlad. I really enjoyed Once Burned.

Sheri, you beat me. I'm not finished yet but will finish tomorrow. When do we want to start the next one?

I think I'll read it then since you liked it :) I was afraid it was just going to be more of her wining.
Alyssia said she has read the second one already, right? I have it so whenever Clare is ready we can start it.

I am ready when y'all are.
I liked Love Unrehearsed more than the first one. I am interested to hear what you think.

Cat is not weak or innocent anymore. I like the kick-ass herione she is now. I really can't stand Cat's mom. Cat is still trying to protect her even though the woman is a hateful bitch.

That would be hazardous if my eyes light up because I have been listening in the car. I could blind approaching cars. LOL
It is interesting listening to "Hot" scenes in the grocery store trying to maintain my composure. People wonder why you have that goofy grin on your face.

I also can't stand Cat's mother! She says the vamp that raped her & all vampires in general are monsters, I'm surprised that when she looks in a mirror she doesn't see the creature that she is. I sympathize for the unfairness she endured w/small town idiocy as far as single parenting, & labeling. That doesn't chance the fact that she has been terrible.filling her head with all her [Cat's mothers] ridiculous crazy.
I'm looking forward to barreling forth onto the next one :) just tell me when we start. I'm in the middle of reading a book that I have to review but I'm wrapping that up.
Is the book by J.Frost that's called "Night Huntress 1.5 " have anything do do w/the series we're reading?
HEA = Happily Ever After
We don't read the 0.5, 1.5, etc. necessarily, but go ahead :) I usually don't because I'm usually disappointed in them. I had read them all for the Sookie Stackhouse series but stopped because they never had anything to do with the story and were usually just...bleh.
Do you guys think we should make a new thread for each book or just keep it all in this one?

Clare, I just started with audible but I do listen to a lot of audio books. I get the audio books from the library. Whisper synch is using Kinle books having an audible feature. I have a Nook so I can't use it but it sounds cool.
Sheri, I think we need to start a new thread that way whoever might want to join will know what book we are reading.

Sheri- i totally agree with those mini books or novellas from the Sookie books, along w/ a few other series I read.
I know we have agreed to finish this series but do y'all want to read Soulless? I can get it from the library.
