Bethany I can't find anywhere to ask this question - but how do you figure out if an author is a Goodreads author? Is it if they are also a member? Is there always an asterisk by their name if they are? Help!

Goodreads authors are identified on their profile pages in the upper-right Janet Evanovich "Goodreads Author Profile"; after the author's name on a book profile High Five Janet Evanovich (Goodreads Author); or on your shelves after the author's name with an asterisk Janet Evanovich*

Task 10.8 -- Witch Got Your Tongue appears to be a book that exists only in ebook format. eBooks with no print version must be verified for length in the eBook verification thread.

Posting requirements for ebooks: If you claim a book in Completed Tasks that exists ONLY in ebook format, you MUST provide a reference to the ebook verification document when you post ex."Approved @ line #" or provide the post number in the ebook verification thread where it was approved ex. While it is a photography book, "A Year on Dartmore" does have essays included in it, much more than picture book text. Would that allow it to be counted?

Even though Deborah Cooke also writes as Claire Delacroix Cooke is not noted as a Goodreads Author. Pseudonyms not listed as Goodreads Authors will not receive a ticket.

How many pages are full text?

message 319: by Bekka (new)

Bekka (froydis) | 492 comments I took it back to the library a while ago, so I can't tell for sure. Its a big coffee-table book - some pages are full text, some are 1/2 page or less. Some are nothing but pictures, and double page picture spreads. I think in a normal book, the text alone would easily equal 100 pages of regular sized text. It took me about the same amount of time to read as I usually take to read a book of well over 100 pages.

Task 10.8 - Ebook pages are notoriously incorrect. The rules of the challenge state: If you read an ebook, or audiobook use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. The paperback version of Master of the Abyss has 314 pages. Therefore, it will not work for task 10.8.

After digging around some more, I don't see how the text could equal 100 pages of regular text. The book is only 128 pages long. According to the photographer's website, (http://www.orange-skies.com/book.html) it has over 100 panoramic pictures some spanning 2 pages and reviews consistently say "Be aware, there's very little text" and "each picture has a short well written sentence attached." The intro appears to be a full page, but all the others have only a small box of text. The photographic notes contain just a sentence or two as well.

This book will not work unless you read 372 more pages to add up to 500 pages.

Ok, I realized after I pposted it that most of the sytories were from the US, Please remove it from the task list. I read enough Canadian authors I should be able to find a substitue, hopefully a short one this late in the game. Sorry to cause trouble.

My apologies - I read this earlier on in the challenge but I didn't read the second book for this task til recently. I read an eARC (Netgalley) and book was due to be published as paperback on 1 Feb 2013 though I've just checked that it's been deferred to March.

Here's a link to Booktopia that has it listed as paperback: http://www.booktopia.com.au/a-ring-th...

Um, do let me know whether I still have to get ebook-only approval as paperback is not yet published?

Sorry & thanks!

Bethany, from your summary it looks like you are claiming Goodreads Author tickets- you must identify each author to claim a ticket. (Just like the Big Book ticket, add "This is a Goodreads Author") Please repost to claim the Goodreads Authors. You will need to include the post number, the tasks, and links
