This brings my total to 345 points, I believe. I'm highly looking forward to reading something much better now. :-)

message 3509: by Rory M. (last edited Apr 03, 2009 06:22AM) (new)

Rory M. Sylvia Engdahl (author of Enchantress of the Stars) is on GoodReads - you can actually add her as a friend so you could probably send her a message & ask her about the revisions. I would love to know if she responds & what she says. I loved those books too!

Someone posted about The Sevenwaters Trilogy, Book 1 Daughter of the Forest, The Sevenwaters Trilogy, Book 2 Son of the Shadows, and The Sevenwaters Trilogy, by Book 3 Child of the Prophecy by Juliet Marillier - I wanted to give my endorsement. These books are the kinds that you get so caught up in that you feel utterly disappointed when you finish them.

Oh...there's a 4th book now too...Heir to Sevenwaters.

Bonnie | 271 comments 25 Points
8. Two Young Adult Novels: Cindy Ella by Robin Palmer and Nobody's Princess by Esther Freisner.

Now, I'm a big fan of YA. But these were two fairly lackluster additions to the genre. Nobody's Princess, about a young Helen of Sparta, was especially not so good. Cindy Ella did at least hit the spot for fluffy romantic high school book, which is good enough.

Total Points: 295

message 3515: by Elizabeth (Alaska) (last edited Apr 03, 2009 09:11AM) (new)

Elizabeth (Alaska) Uh, Librarians, That Old School link takes you to Macbeth. Momentarily confused, was I, since I'm pretty sure Shakespeare didn't (but could have) won any of our awards, but more particularly that Julie wasn't born in 1606. OK, got my first laugh of the morning!

message 3516: by Leah (new)

Leah Point update:
Finished The Notebook for 15 point task #4 (Spring Break location novel - North Carolina). Can I say I stand corrected? I have tended to be very dismissive of Nicholas Sparks, but I sell so much of his stuff, that I thought I'd give it another shot. That, and the only place I've been for Spring Break this year and last year is North Carolina, and I knew that was a preferred setting for him. It was actually pretty good. Hadn't seen the movie, so I didn't know the premise at all - and was pleasantly surprised. Plus, I'm a sucker for a story celebrating a good marriage!

Then I picked up Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult, for 10 point task #4, March, April or May b-day author. (May 19, 1966). This was the first book of hers that I read, years ago, so this was a re-read, but just as good the second time around.

Total points these tasks = 25
Total points to date = 300

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Maggie, I don't think those would count as rhyming words.. I think to count it would have to be bitten and smitten, or written, or kitten, etc.

I'm pretty sure Cynthia has mentioned something like that before, but I can't find it. (Too many posts!)

10. March, April, and May are the 3rd, 4th, and 5th months of the year
- Read the third, fourth and fifth books of one series OR
- Read 3 books with the numbers 3/4/5- three/four/five in the titles (books do not have to come from the same series in this instance)
Around The Way Girls 3, 4 & 5

These are urban fiction books and nothing to scream over. A friend got me interested awhile back and some are pretty darn good, the first one of this series was good, didn't read the second, and these were just plain okay.

Nicole | 155 comments The library was missing some books, which caused me to rearrange a bit (nothing I already claimed points for) so I'm going to use Three Cups of Tea One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time by Greg for 25.9 - Sara's 12 word task.

Total points 150

I'm a sagitarius so I read Drive: The Story of my Life by Larry Bird. Slow read. He repeats himself alot and jumps around even more, but, he is a basketball player and not a writer. It took me longer than I would have liked but I'm glad I read it.

I'm on disc 6 of 8 still.... It's interesting, and I keep meaning to listen.... but I haven't in a while. I need to hurry up and finish already!

But in the meantime, I just listened to discs 2 through 10 of The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, and I can't stop grinning.... I really needed a fantastically, wonderfully happy ending! (After reading The Book Thief and Tell Me If the Lovers Are Losers...)

I read The Goose Girl for the first half of Task 25.1 ('G' book). No points yet. I just wanted to gush. :)
