If you like Anne of Green Gables, this summer I read The Blue Castle and it was written by the same author. I really enjoyed it.

No. They are from my list. when I joined Goodreads and took the Challenge; I wasn't a part of any Challenge group. I never participated in book clubs or read as many books until I joined Goodreads. Joining the Challenges has increased my book experience like I never would have imagined.

Where is the Goodreads 100 List?

Here is the list: http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/12...

This challenge is based on how many books you want to read from the Goodreads 100 list (:

Jack Hansen | 357 comments Thank you Adriana. I'll check it out and see how many I have read. :)

Jack Hansen | 357 comments I found 6 that I have read but never listed. That means I've read 31/100, fractionally speaking. However, all 31 were not read in 2013. My 31 is in my lifetime. I should do it over again and see how many I have read this year.

I have read 3 on the list this year. I found another I added to my list, Fight Club. 32 total in my lifetime.

I might need to reread that one. I read it when I as 11 or 12 and I found it boring. Maybe it's time to give it another try.

Jeri (GlitterQueen) | 141 comments Anne is a super spunky child and very imaginative, and I love that combo, I guess it kind of reminds me of myself. Anyway, so far I'm really enjoying it. It helps me remember what it was like to be a child.

Yeah I kind of like the tv shows and cartoon, some episode that is, when I was a kid, I didn't like the book much I can't tell why it's been over 15 years ago. Maybe I would have a different opinion on it now.

It's a good list and I'm sure I'll read some listed but probably not this year. I have my time set on writing and learning about writing a novel. The challenges with which I am already involved will keep me busy until the end of the year. I am always adding new books into which I just delve. Mark Levin's new book, the Liberty Amendments, is one I am itching to read. I am also administrating a closed group on FB where I vett potential members who post from all around the world; time consuming.

Chloé (fullmetalclo) | 573 comments I've wanted to read, 1984 of Georges Orwell for years, but it took me so much time just to go and get it and once I bought it, it took me a few months to read it. Now that I read it, I wonder why I waited so long. I loved it.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 169 comments I have not made any attempt to read any of the books on that list this year. I think I'll just have my name removed from the participants. I don't see myself getting a chance to read any of these before the year is over. Perhaps next year...

Thanks!

Thanks Jeri! You are well on your way to your goal! Almost there. If you are thinking of any I have read let me know which ones. I was really surprised by a few and disappointed by a few. It is a great challenge though because it forced me out of my regular reads and introduced me to books I probably never would have read.

Jodi (readinbooks) | 1971 comments Jeri wrote: "I haven't read Interpreter of Maladies and The Giver yet, they both seem really interesting.

I liked The Giver. It is a YA novel and is the first in a trilogy. I have only read the first one though. It is a short, quick read. I had been meaning to read it for years. It is often taught to grade 7 students and I am a teacher, so it was one I wanted to read.

Interpreter of Maladies was good too. It was a collection of short stories. I haven't read short stories since university and it was neat to start the next chapter and have a different story. All stories had characters who were Indian or Indian American. The stories were all different though. I didn't feel like I was reading the same story over and over again.

Chloé (fullmetalclo) | 573 comments The Great Gatsby is good, but I don't get the big fuss over it, over the years. But, maybe, I need a new perspective on it. I think I prefer the movie, not for the story, it's pretty much the same, but I like the period, so the visual made it more interesting. I liked that it's not a sweet romance, where everybody lives happily ever after. I was pretty annoyed with all the characters, actually despised most of them and I wanted to bitch slap everyone of them.

1. 1984 by George Orwell completed on September 26th 2013

2. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

3. The Da Vinci Code (Robert Langdon, #2) by Dan Brown

Yeah the visual is the only reason I like the movie more. I found both the book and movie ok.

message 298: by Jeri (new)

Jeri (GlitterQueen) | 141 comments I agree. I read this a long time ago in college as well as watching whatever version of the movie was out then, and I really didn't care for it. I think I would enjoy the new movie just for the visuals, but I don't think I liked any of the characters in the book and couldn't relate to any of them either. Someday maybe I'll have to re-read it to see why people thought it was so great.

Harry Potter is a nice, easy read. I can't say it is the best written book of all time, but it flows easily and it's like there some drug on the pages, I couldn't put it down, the first is the setting , he others are better.

I didn't want to read when I was a teenager because of its popularity. But I kind of been push into it by the boyfriend of the time. And now It one of my favorite series! I can't count how many time I read it.
