Just started “The Book of Entirety” by Feliks W. Kres - not translated to English and hardly ever will. I was told that Feliks Kres has created the world so cruel, that George R. R. Martin could learn a thing or two. :D First book is great so far.

I've been trying to read Dragon's Path. I read the first book of the Long Price Quartet and still haven't gotten to reading the rest of the series. I'm really trying to give Daniel Abraham the chance to wow me.

Ooo! Please tell me your thoughts when you read it! I'm a huge Marillier fan but I can't say that I loved Seer... I've been looking for someone to discuss it with me. I'm definitely going to read Flame when it comes out. (And I have Shadowfell on hold too...)

I read Divergent then noticed Insurgent on offer and bought it. I too, like to complete. I've not read Anne Bishop, what is she like, I keep seeing her name.

Very different! Kind of off-putting at first, definitely, but I found that she took some refreshing chances with the Black Jewels books. I recommend them if you're not squeamish ;)

I'll second the Anne Bishop recommendation, dark and with great characters. Very different from other fantasy books, not for everyone, but some of my favorites.

I'm kicking off the month with The Night Circus for my meets-in-real-life book club. Then I need to finish up re-reading Crown of Slaves and Shadow of Saganami so I can move on to Storm from the Shadows.

Then it's back to the next book club pick, What Alice Forgot.

IF I get to read anything of my own this month, it'll probably be finishing up Hobb's Ship of Destiny.

Hannah. I know what you mean about Seer of Sevenwaters. I think it's the changing of POV that makes it hard to read. I can't connect with the characters properly. Haven't finished it yet but it's awkward.

I'm reread the Liveship Traders as I did not enjoy them the first time, but now I'm loving it. The only bad thing is that I don't have the first book, so I started with the second book.

I'm in the mood for some solid high fantasy so I'm giving Legends of the Dragonrealm: Shade a try.



I'm not very far into it but so far it's good... lots of hints at the past, magic and some interesting characters already.

Finished Life of Pi last night. It was more intense and graphic than I expected, but still a good story.

Moving on to The Casual Vacancy now and soon to finish King of Thorns on my Kindle :)

Just completed "Fool Moon" by Jim Butcher- I'm told it takes a while for Harry Dresden to warm to you. "Fool Moon" certainly better than "Storm Front."

I have started reading "Sacrificial Magic" by Stacia Kane and "Twixt Firelight and Water" by Juliet Marilier.

Just started Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder and am loving it so far. Have to finish up so I can start in on Scent of Magic.

I finished reading Storm Front the other day and found it lacking, thanks for the tip Alannah. I'm currently reading Neuromancer and after that I'm going to read the books of the month. I'd like to read my new copy of The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi this month too. I read Pump Six and Other Stories by him and it was nuts.

I'm reading The Last Unicorn this month too! I read Stormdancer a few weeks ago... I found it slightly racist... not trying to colour your enjoyment just a heads up I guess :S

Hannah, out of curiosity, why do you say Stormdancer is slightly racist? A couple of my friends liked it enough to give it 4&5 star ratings, but don't mention that issue at all (not unusual, it tends to be more a personal issue for me so I mention it in my reviews).

Hannah, I'm actually reading it chapter by chapter with my best friend who moved to another city. After a while you run out of things to talk about, so we decided to read a book together, and Last Unicorn is one we've both been meaning to read forever!
I'm sad to hear what you have to say about Stormdancer. I'm still thrilled to read it, and I hope I don't feel any racism :(

This month: just finished Stephen Kings 2nd book in his Dark tower series. The drawing of the three. found it a lot more enjoyable then the gunslinger. look forward to seeing what his next books are like.

Currently reading Patrick Rothfuss: The name of the wind and am pleasantly surprised at how enthralled with it I am :)

The Gunslinger: I was like you kept picking it up and putting it down. I felt compelled to finish it. for some reason i just needed to get to the end but I felt like I just jumped into this world I knew nothing about and was reading about a character I knew nothing about. I finished the book and felt a bit dazed and confused more then anything but in the second book you really start finding a bit more about what is going on and its a pretty good read. not your typical fantasy but quite interesting... I have heard it really starts to pick up soon so I am keen to read on. :)

Rebecca and Shari Kay: I didn't enjoy the The Gunslinger either and left it while I was half way through.. then I got back to it a second time and glad I finished it. Book two was amazing, it really gave me the "wow this author has quite the imagination" (I haven't read anything by Stephen King before).. Now I'm currently reading the last book..

Hi Carol and Adrianna! I just thought Stormdancer was coming from a very euro-centric point of view; it was more what the author thought Japanese culture was like than what it is/was. That and the amazingly handsome love interest has sea-green eyes (I think that was how they were described it but I can't check because I returned it to the library) - and Yukiko keeps having dreams about his green eyes because they're so amazing and beautiful... and like a white person's. I read a review that put it really well by TheBookSmugglers

Currently halfway through The Shadow Rising and absolutely LOVING it :) I've been reading nonstop since the second half of the first book, can't believe I postponed reading WoT for so long!

Will be reading The Dirty Streets of Heaven for a book club once I'm done with Shadow Rising, quite intrigued by the crossover between fantasy and court scenes.

That'll probably be followed by The Fires of Heaven so I don't lose track of where everyone is or what's happened.

I stopped reading everything else in order to read some Louis McMaster Bujold, starting with Paladin of the Soul as I never have read anything by her.

I'm going to see her next weekend on the last stop of her tour, and I'm going to ask her if she would like to come in and join the group for a little question and answer session on Curse of the Chalion as it one of the club's book read for next month.
