I just got Among Others by Jo Walton in the mail. Really looking forward to getting started on it!Also re-reading An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa, 1942-1943 and The Day of Battle: The War in Sicily and Italy, 1943-1944 in anticipation of the third and final volume in this absolutely wonderful history of WWII.
Finished Unspoken, which was truly enjoyable, and started Knife Sworn, the second by Mazarkis Williams.
Finished Shoggoths in Bloom and other stories and Pirate Cinema.Shoggoths was amazing and beautiful, which is how I feel about most of Elizibeth Bear's stories. Pirate Cinema was a little to YA-y and didactic for me, but it was a fast and easy read and I can pass it on to my sister as part of her Christmas present.
Moving on to Alif the Unseen next, about which I have heard good things and have high hopes.
Finished Ship of Destiny. You can read my review here is you are so inclined.
Now I'm trying to squeeze in Memoria. A Corporation of Lies before Cold Days comes out next week.

Finished The Dirty Streets of Heaven and The Blinding Knife. Started World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and The Hobbit.
Michael wrote: "I'm currently reading 'To Ride Hell's Chasm' by Janny Wurts. Good so far!"So let me get this straight, you're reading "To Ride Hell's Chasm?"
Just finished the first two books of The Long Price Quartet, very enjoyable, I have three days left in my Thanksgiving break and I can track down he last two I'll knock em out
Finishing up Revelation Space. It started off rather slow, but really started to pick up during the last half of the book. Can't wait to find out how it ends.
Tamahome wrote: "Reading Lee Child's One Shot, soon to be a Tom Cruise Movie. It's starts off good (pg 92/485)."Can't believe they got Cruise to play Reacher, if there's an actor who's the physical opposite of Reacher it's Cruise. Part of Reacher's deal is that his size make people underestimate him, but when action is called for can move faster and stronger than people expect.
Reacher - 6'6"
Cruise - 3'2"
Finished reading Starting Hamilton's Judas Unchained

Cruise is at least 4'.

That's true. I should only read the beginnings of books.
I read Captain Vorpatril's Alliance this week, to finish out the Vorkosigan saga. Lesser Bujold is still lots of fun to read. I'm listening to Dodger on audible. I avoided any reviews, so hadn't realized this is a non-Discworld book, instead set in Dickensian London. I don't like the audio narrator too much.
Just finished The Fires of Heaven and you can check out my review hereI meant to read something else between each WoT book, but with that ending... yeah, I'm reading Lord of Chaos right away!
I meant to read The Hunger Games after The Fires of Heaven, guess I'll try reading both at the same time and seeing how that goes. Never really tried reading more than one thing at a time in fear that I'd start confusing both, but I suppose they're different enough for that not to be an issue!
Poison Study by Maria Snyder. Having a hard time believing the world she created and the characters are kind of flat.
Listened to the Stephanie Plum book, Notorious Nineteen always a fun time. Went on to listen to Wicked Appetite now listening to Wicked Business. Having a Janet Evanovich weekend.
I'm reading Jet by Russell Blake. I usually only read fantasy but I grabbed it when he did a free promo. It's really good so far.
Finished The Hobbit and World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War on the beach during vacation. Starting Zero Day: A Novel on Kindle and How to Be Black on Audible. Last one is not very SFF but Baratunde is funny.
Finished listening to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Normally I only listen during my rather short commute or while doing chores around the house, but the end is such that it was hard to stop listening, so I marathoned the ending.
I'll likely continue with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince tomorrow morning.

I can't decide if I liked Alif the Unseen a lot, or if I just found it an easy read. Either way it didn't have a huge effect on me, but it was interesting to see something different, even if it just reconfirmed that I have massive difficulty making an imaginative leap to a theistic worldview.Moving on to Some Kind Of Fairy Tale tonight, Coode Street podcast have been talking it up all year so I'm hoping for good things.
I finished Memoria. A Corporation of Lies that I came across from a promotion in the group. You can read my Review if you're inclined.
I'm in a bit of a holding pattern for now, waiting for Cold Days on Tuesday. I'll likely hold myself over by reading the first four chapters that have been posted online tomorrow.

Finished Joe Abercrombie's The Heroes.My Review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Starting the Audible version of Sanderson's 3rd Mistborn book The Hero of Ages
After listening to Lois McMaster Bujold's new book Captain Vorpatril's Alliance earlier this month, actually ended up listening to it twice a week or so apart, decided to revisit more of her Vorkosigan books. Didn't want to listen to the whole series, just some of my favorites in the series. Barrayar, The Warrior's Apprentice, Memory, Komarr, A Civil Campaign: A Comedy of Biology and Manners.Really just in a holding pattern waiting for the new Dresden book tomorrow, and none of my books in my waiting list interested me right now.
Finished The Dirty Streets of Heavenand am just over a quarter of the way through The Year's Best Science Fiction: Twenty-Ninth Annual Collection Just started Outlaw
Finished (and enjoyed) Knife Sworn and started Warriors of the Steppes: The Complete Cossack Adventures, Volume Two by Harold Lamb, which technically is historical adventure rather than fantasy, but without Lamb there likely would've been no Robert E. Howard, at least not as we know him today.
Cold Days are here!!!!
I started last night with the 4 chapters online and will be spending as much time after work tonight reading as I can..

Just got The Dirty Streets of Heaven from the library the other day, and trying to finish it before the end of the month. If I do, it will be my first BOM here I have managed to read while it's the club pick, instead of months later.
Tamahome wrote: "That's true. It's supposed to snow today."I wish it would snow here. Our summer starts in December.
I'm bored to tears by The Algebraist so I'm setting it aside. I've started Gardens in the Dunes and Passage.
I just finished Ringworld by Larry Niven. I didn't like it as much as I hoped. There was so much potential, but it just fell flat for me. I've moved on to City of Ember - a YA novel. I saw the movie a few years ago and thought I'd read the book. Honestly, I wanted something like The Maze Runner or Across the Universe, but those books were too expensive at the used book store (yes, I still buy real books from a brick and mortar used book store). Sorry, I would put the links in the book title names, but I'm not sure how to do it without opening new windows and copying the links over...too much work for a quick comment. Edited to fix the links as Tamahome explained to do.
Just finished Red Country and it was great, it is another excellent entry in the First Law series by Joe Abercrombie. I really love Joe's characters and I've enjoyed how he always brings characters back from his previous books in some way. You just get so much more out of the book if you've read his previous books, which isn't to say you wouldn't enjoy it if you haven't read his previous stuff, only that there is so much here that you would miss without that knowledge.Immediately after finishing it I started Cold Days but I'm only a few chapters in at this point and can't give a good opinion yet.
Really love reading the books from both of these series, the First Law series and The Dresden Files are my two favorite series and new books from both these series coming out in the same month makes for some late nights.
I've got Cold Days, and Trapped. After those I'll either continue with Robin Hobb, or give the Kate daniels series a try.

Gave up on Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder. I couldn't get into the world or the character. Can't decide if I'm going to read The Hobbit or not so I'm jumping into Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey.
