Just finished my first book for this challenge. Year 2011 - "Train of Small Mercies" by David Rowell. Good writing and I enjoyed how the different stories were woven together with the common theme of Kennedy's funeral train. However, there was no real ending, just an end. My review would be 3.5 stars. Worth reading
Cool. I will not attempt to do mine in order, either.Oh, and for now my Goodreads Challenge goal is set at 40 books, since I have never managed to make 50 and I would actually like to complete the Challenge this year! I'll raise it later on if I look like I'm going to read a lot more this year.

Thought this challenge sounded...well, challenging! And fun! So I will be starting from 1979, the year I was born. So that's what? 35 books? But since I've already started it, I will begin with the 2006 novel The Road by Cormac McCarthy. And I'll fill in the years around it as I can. :-)
Hi, here is my list. I am starting with 1983 (the year of my birth). This should make it 30 books, but as some of the them are 100-200 pages long, I will have two entries for some years to make it up (around 47-50 books in total).1983: Flying to Nowhere and Life & Times of Michael K

Yes, Debra - I am on the "old" side too. I picked 1990 - the year I first became an aunt. :)

At least by going back to 1987 I feel like I can complete this challenge...my birth year would have been a real challenge!
I just finished my pick for 2007 - "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. This book was entertaining. It felt like a mixture of Eragon and Harry Potter, just a tad darker. While I appreciated the world the author created, the book was long, and I truly hated the dusk-jacket description. Worth reading and good enough that I will read the 2nd book, I'm just not going to rush out and read it now. 4 stars. 2/31
I think this is probably my favourite yearly challenge, I just wish I was older so it'd be more challenging. Actually, if I finish these years easily I might just go back to another important year before I was born if that's okay. :)So far I've got:

I have really enjoyed all of these books. I guess that is why it is good to join some of these challenges. I probably would not have picked any of these to read otherwise.
Just finished my selection for 2012 - "Fobbit" by David Abrams. I enjoyed the snark throughout this book, which was the vehicle for relaying not only the mismanagement of the Iraqi War but also the inherent vulnerability of the supposed commanders of the Army. The only reason I gave the book three stars instead of 3.5 is that the ending seemed disjointed for the rest of the book. Worth reading. 3 stars.3/31

Just finished my selection for 1981 - "The Countess Below Stairs" by Eva Ibbotson. Sweet, simple love story. Historically not very accurate and the characters were very simply constructed, but the book was entertaining. Good beach/vacation read. 3 stars.
