Tee27 | 96 comments It's 10:30 AM, and I've just finished watching an awesome, uplifting sermon by Joel Osteen!

Terri, even though I like staying in, I feel so much better--more refreshed--when I go outside for a bit. Enjoy your day :-).

Janie, did you experience reading withdrawals the last few days, or did you feel okay taking a little break...?

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 10:18 AM. About to keep on working on cleaning my house and then re-organize my closet and workout. Then, I have to go to buy pantyhose and go to the grocery store. Been a busy weekend getting new clothes for my new job. It feels so great to say that, y'all. :) GOOD MORNING, GR! And, I have really missed my GR friends these last few days. And, as a side note, I am REALLY behind on my reading! :)

Janie-THANK YOU! I am so excited!

Rachel the Book Harlot 3:34pm. I'm not feeling well today. Have a slight migraine and feel a little nauseous. Ugh, just took an Advil so hopefully it will take effect within the next 30 minutes.

Jordan, congrats on your placement!

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 345 comments 3:47 p.m just got done doing my laundry at the laundromat. Ugh. Annoying. Like half the machines are always out of order, and the change machine only works maybe once every couple of months. So gotta go to the convenience store and hope they'll let you change in for quarters. New owners took over, and they've slowly been working on improving, put in a new wall of dryers, but now they need to fix the washers, only like 6 in the whole place work out of 20. Pain in the butt.
Now I'm catching up on everyone's comments in groups, and just messing around.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 8:50 PM. Have been so busy today: about seven loads of laundry I STILL need to finish, three loads of dishes (did lots of Sunday cooking. :)), grocery shopping, cleaned kitty litter box, football, re-organized my closet, cleaned our bedroom, set-up new work email, swept the house, and I'm about to get back to laundry. Yay...go me....

10:28 p.m. EST I slept ALL DAY LONG, which was bad 'cause I meant to go sit in the sun for awhile, since it was supposed to be low 60s today. Anyway, I guess I needed the sleep. Finished the 2nd Lovecraft Middle School book, and now have to go through all the e-mail that accumulated while I slept the day away... O.O

11:29PM Checking GR and getting in some much needed reading. Will be crawling into bed soon I hope.

Wow Kathryn, busy day for you.

Tee I hate when I can't read, it drives me insane, but sometimes life gets in the way. On the otherhand taking breaks is important too I think. This time though I really wanted to read. LOL Grandbaby is here though this weekend so it has been hard to get read time in.

Braces suck, I had them in high school and I remember the pain that came with every adjustment, or appliance they put in my mouth. I don't envy you at all, but do remember that it is temporary for the most part. I got mine out a year and a half later when I was in college and I ate so many caramel apples I almost made myself sick. Good luck, and take the opportunity to enjoy soups on days they get adjusted. Hope you have a better day Jordan.

8:35 PM--I was in a reading slump for most of the day for some reason, so I did something I rarely do--watched hours of TV! I even went back to watching a few cooking shows. (I happen to love them by the way!)
Now, I'm about to crack open my book again and read a few pages.

Alondra Miller 9:11pm ET. My eyes are grainy and i am whooped....

HINT: If you are a patient and you must take prescription medicine for ANY thing. Do not wait until you have none, before calling your doctor!! I mean it!! Don't call with an attitude, because you forgot to call for a refill.

Secondly, don't think that just because you are out of refills that your doctor needs to refill your medication. You must keep your appointments, take the medication as directed and keep up with your labs as well.....

patients irritate me with their non-compliance!! Do what you are supposed to do!

****That concludes this local rant*** :/

I mostly agree with this, but did have a problem with a doctor a few years back refusing to refill my ASTHMA INHALER because I could not afford her $120 office-visit bill and didn't have insurance. I mean, come ON... When I had last seen her, she had told me to "come back in a year" and then when I needed more medication for my asthma, it was "sorry, you need to come in first..." *sigh* I can understand my pain-management doctor insisting on seeing me every month to refill narcotic pain meds, but... ASTHMA INHALER? Sorta important. I ended up in the ER unable to breathe. And since I didn't have insurance OR the money to pay, that was NOT a fun thing...

Anway, 1:02 a.m. EST, have not been able to sleep properly all day and I'm SO TIRED but have this long manuscript to edit and can't be laying here trying anymore. Just clearing out some e-mail before I buckle down for a few hours.

Our healthcare system is such a mess! I am an RN who has been disabled for 10 years, so I see the system from the point of view of both professional and patient. And let me tell you, being a patient in general SUCKS!

message 1189: by [deleted user] (new)

A sleepless night. It's 3:11am and I'm glad I have GR to check out to help the night go by. The puppy just crawled off my lap and is now asleep next to me on the couch. (I call him a puppy because he's only 6 months old, but he weighs 39 pounds and is already a good-sized dog.) I've got a really good book going so I will go back to that shortly. Watching replays of a lot of the Inauguration coverage. I love watching the President and the First Lady dance! Michelle looks gorgeous, as she and her daughters have all day. It's been a great day to be a proud American!

message 1191: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 12:25 p.m. EST had to knock myself out this morning with melatonin as I had not been sleeping well, so now I'm all blurry. Still, at least I had a few hours' sleep, so I feel better and overall more alert. Have some e-mail to go through, and then editing.

Terri, I agree about the healthcare system. The situation I outlined above was a particularly frustrating one because even though I'd been seeing that doctor for several years, she absolutely refused to compromise. She would not let me make payments for my visit. She would not give me a low-income discount, since I had lost my job and my insurance. And she sure as hell would not so much as give me a sample so I had a bloody inhaler. It was infuriating! My current doctor is old-fashioned, bless his heart, and his starting office visit fee is only $40, and he will actually spend a decent amount of time with you, talking and making sure you're okay. I adore him. We need more like him, but I fear he's a dying breed. The only time I had more than 5 minutes at the pain clinic was the time I remarked off-hand that if the pain didn't lessen soon, I would kill myself. THAT got their attention for a few minutes and I had to convince them I didn't really mean it, at least not at the moment, etc. etc. However, I was right at the damn edge right then, as I'd had 3 months already of 8 to 10 on a pain scale and was ready to just have it STOP, you know? Anyway... it's something I've been ranting about with a couple other people on Facebook lately, so it's in my brain... I hope you ended up sleeping a bit. And dogs are puppies until they're at least 3, from my understanding of their psyche... :-)

needed meds should never be denied unless a patient is non-compliant by choice. that is different than no insurance, high cost meds. i am talking specifically about those that think they never have to come in and should get meds handed over freely. I bend over backwards for every patient, not just the paying ones. everyone has a job, and i am just trying to do mine without getting cussed out because someone called after missing meds for 3 days then think i should jump through hoops due to their own negligence... really??
