What time is it and what are you doing?
12:56 PM. About 45 minutes left of our three hour drive to go kayaking and fishing. Mark is driving, so I've been reading and I finished my book. I brought the fourth book in the series, so I've already started it. Hope we don't get into contact with gators because they are out here, plus snakes! Ewwwww!!!
Kathryn I hope you both have a great time and don't have to frantically paddle away from Gators. Good luck. Stay away from anything that looks like drift wood.:-)
3:52 p.m. EDT Again I slept way too long, although I was woken a couple times by howling cats demanding things. I guess it's just I haven't been feeling well so my body is demanding rest. Back to editing tomorrow, but really psyched as it's a "new" client, an author whose stuff I really, REALLY like. It'll be awesome. Meanwhile, back to reading!
10:14 p.m. Had a wonderful weekend with Jeff during our "vacation". Can't exactly call it a vacation because we didn't go anywhere except a hotel with a hot tub and pool, but it was a much needed break and I caught up on some sleep. Very relaxing and I had some quiet time away from the madness for a couple of days. Plan on reading for an hour or two tonight and then bed.
10:18pm ET. Short work week for me. Taking off 8th thru the 13th. I am hoping to read, garden and read.. that is it!! ,....now... time to read.. :D

Cindy, my first ex-husband and I used to do that periodically, rent a hotel room and just spend a weekend relaxing. It was fun; we'd just go downtown, but...10:53 p.m. EDT Tiger is howling. Dmitry just came back with their food, so I suppose he's saying he's hungry. It's back to editing tomorrow, but I'll at least start another book for now.
Katy, have you read Swan Song? We're currently reading this in my other group and it is some real scary stuff right from the beginning.
By McCammon? Oh, yeah. LOVED it. It still haunts me. Definitely want to re-read it once I manage to find where I stashed it.

I have never read it and my group voted for it as the read of the month. I almost didn't join in because it is so long and I've got six other books going, but I'm so glad I decided to read it. Not very far into it, but hooked from the first sentence.

It is pretty crazy by the end, and some of the military stuff can be a little long-winded, but it all is totally worth it.
Thanks Katy. Definitely making it and Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three top priorities right now. Both are excellent.
12:17 a.m. and I'm off to bed. Hope it is slow at work tomorrow. Taking four books with me and plan to read at least a little from all of them.
Swan Song is one of the few books Mark has read and he loves. He keeps telling me to read it. I will get to it at some point in time. Lol
11:19 PM. Cooking is a quick dinner. We got home about twenty minutes ago and got showers. Now, it's time to relax, eat dinner, do a little reading, then sleep very well tonight. We kayaked six miles, did some fishing, and then headed home. Beautiful state park. I think it's my new favorite of the ten we've been to. The furry babies are soooo happy we are home, and I can't say I blame them. I'm happy to be home with them after a beautiful, fun, nice day with The Boy.

Cindy glad you had a nice mini vacay! You so deserved it. It is always nice to be able to take a little time no matter where you go.
Alondra enjoy the time you have for yourself coming up in the next few days. You certainly deserve it!
Swan Song is an incredible read and I wish every reader could experience this book. I have read it twice so far and I am sure I will read it again sometime in the future!
1:09 p.m. EDT I told you last night I planned to just start that book and go to bed? Umm, no. I sat here and read that bad boy straight through without stopping. I finished it about 2:30 in the morning and just felt like crying 'cause it was over. I both love and hate when a book does that to me. I love it because it means it was a really engaging book, but I hate it 'cause I planned to go to BED durn it; I had editing to do today. Plus I had to go right out and buy the rest of the darn trilogy so I could read the rest of the stupid thing... *huff* Anyway, the book I couldn't put down is free on Amazon and Smashwords in e-book format if y'all are interested. It's Entangled. But I'll warn ya... once you pick it up, you ain't puttin' it down 'til it's DONE. I started the second one this morning after a frustrating hour where I tried to come in here and clear out my notifications but lovely Alice in her chair kept showing up, so I finally gave up. What, was every person in the world but me on Goodreads at 3 a.m. Eastern time?? *sigh* Anyway, I really do need to start my editing, so I'll be rushing through the rest of my notifications and then on to it.
4:25 p.m. and I plan on reading for a couple of hours before I do my errands tonight. Got just a little bit read from each of the four books I took to work with me. Ahhh!! I keep saying - ONE AT A TIME! Never works out that way. Have seven going now. LOL
6:24 p.m. EDT Took a break from editing to clear my e-mail and then was stuck watching the "(My) Immortal" webseries on YouTube. Oh, man, it's hilarious. It's based on a really bad Harry Potter fan-fic (slash, I think) and they're basically parodying it in this series. I've seen the first three, but had to tear myself away and finish e-mail so I can go back to work!
Have to leave now. So much for getting a lot of reading done. I did make some decent progress in Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three, but I've received nine phone calls the last two hours. Oh well, such is life. If I'm not too tired, I will read some when I get home. After only four hours sleep last night, that is up in the air.
6:24 PM. Just finished a great run, took a shower, Dad called, and now I'm settling down to read until Mark gets home. Kind of hungry for dinner, but I'll wait a little bit first, though.

1:03 a.m. EDT That book was awesome. I love editing stuff like that, stuff that makes me excited to have been a part of the process, y'know? Now time to clear out e-mail, maybe read for awhile, and then crash HARD... LOL
12:42 AM. I've had some distractions, but for the most part, I've gotten some reading done tonight. Dinner was easy and yummy, had my run earlier, and the kitties have been good. Mark sent me a text saying he won't be home until 2 AM. :/ I don't think I can stay up that long. Going to read a few more pages before sleeping. Good night, GR....

So now checking i..."You are not alone, I started that book over 3 times myself just trying to keep the massive amount of characters straight. I wasn't a big fan of it so didn't continue with the series. I wanted to like it, but it wasn't for me.
9:20AM Working, and wishing I was home with my family. I'm having one of those days where I just miss them so much like they have been gone for a long time. I know I will see them later today but I miss my wife and kids. Got sidetracked on my reading, I got a bunch of new comics and like a child, I have been focused on those.
11:49 AM. Mark didn't get home until after 2, so I'm glad I went to sleep way before that. Not sure when Mark is going to work, but I need to go to the grocery store, workout, and then I'm going to read. I'd like to get all of it done early so I can just read without having to go do anything.

It is just getting motivated to go out and do it I have an issue with. :-)

Chuck it is mainly this style of writing. Yes distractions do play a small role but that is not all of it. Just seems like so much to take in, makes the read a little less relaxing for me too.
4:07 p.m. EDT When I finally crashed, I crashed fairly hard. Wasn't planning to leave bed today, but I guess I'm awake now, so I'll start on the third book of this trilogy, which I hope will conclude the series in the style it deserves. Then back to reviewing things for which, y'know, I actually owe a review! But I love to occasionally rub my detractors' noses in the fact that yes, I do, in fact, buy books and read and review them positively even though receiving additional books to review isn't even on the freakin' table...

Sometimes when switch we to a new author it takes a while to digest the news style--I know you know this, though. Good reading!
5:02 PM. Going for my hour run, then getting a shower, heading to the store, and getting home as quickly as I can so I can read!
6:39pm EDT. Just finished dinner (chicken sandwich from Wendy's--too dizzy to cook tonight) and getting ready to watch Reds baseball. I'm reminded from reading all the posts how personal reading taste is. I happen to love ASOIAF--the whole series--and was disappointed in the last Stephen King I read. Finished an outstanding book today (& Sons), but I know it wouldn't be to everyone's taste. Different strokes for different folks--trite but true, I guess. Ready to settle in for a nice quiet evening.
6:58 p.m. and I'm in reading mode now. Will check back on GR's every 30 minutes or so when I take a short breather.
6:15pm at a book signing of Julia Heaberlin, author of "Playing Dead" and "Lie Still." Local author and you can get her books on Amazon or Barnes & Noble! I'm excited!
7:24 p.m. Home from work, washing a load of clothes, heating up last night's beef stew, sipping on rum & coke, and reading some of the posts on GR
Ack, Terri, do I ever know about being dizzy! I hope it passes soon. Have I mentioned to you that meclizine, which you can buy fairly inexpensively from a pharmacist without a prescription, does help with this? I once had a doctor write me a prescription for the stuff and it was $40; next time I went to fill it, the pharmacist told me, "Just buy the generic without the prescription, it's the same thing" and 100 pills was only $5.7:27 p.m. EDT Suddenly so tired. Going to take a nap once I've cleared out e-mail. Earlier right after I first logged in my computer just shut itself off without warning. So annoying...

Chuck for me I feel it is more because of the genre, I have tried fantasy in the past and struggled with it, I wanted to see if it would be different now, and well, it really is not. LOL

I, too, had to re-read a lot of stuff in that book, as often happens when I switch to a new style of writing. Unfortunately, in this case, it never got any better for me. That's why I asked.
But, you know, I still ain't done with the fantasy genre. There are a few series I've been eying. I was thinking about the WHEEL OF TIME series by Robert Jordan, THE KINGKILLER CHRONICLE by Patrick Rothfuss, and a couple of others I can't remember at the moment.
8:49pm ET. Watching Catfish.... i need therapy. These people cannot be this dumb... can they?? 1 more day and then off to the mountains. I will be offline for 3 glorious days! Woot-Woot!!

At the same time though, I'm also often surprised that we like so much of the same stuff for the most part. I mean, think about it. I'm a 39-year-old male from Texas. There quite a world between us. 8:10 PM. Waiting for dinner to get done, so I'm checking in on GR and my lovely friends. Guys, I have to be honest with you all....Mark is at work, and I really miss him. I can't wait for his night shifts to be over. It's a good thing I have two cats, books, and GR to keep me company, because already, I'm missing the other half of my heart. :''( It was weird to go to bed without him last night, but he did wake me up giving me a back rub to let me know he was home. Anyways, going to read, read, read. :) Alondra, I'm going to miss you!!!!!! I love the mountains!!!!

1:16 p.m. EDT Was up for awhile in the middle of the night reading, but didn't log in. Hubby had to work a double today. Going to try to meet my cousin's friend again tomorrow for lunch, hopefully will be able to make it this time! Reading today until I finish this book, then I need to do some work on a MS for week after next, prep stuff.
