I don't know where to start. There is so much I loved about this book. It was gut wrenching, heart breaking and beautiful all at the same time. I haven't felt this sad about finishing a book in a while. I miss all of them already.

Thats exactly how I felt Marcella, I just kept re-reading parts because I didn't want to move on and leave them behind. So where do you want to start the discussion? My first question is, why did she really stop talking? Why was is so hard for her to tell her parents and/or the police who he was, and what happened?

Well to answer your question Shanna I think the reason why she stopped talking was because she didn't want to have to lie to people about anything. I remember her telling Josh that she's not good at lying and it would be too much trouble to keep up with them all. As far as her telling her parents and the cops who he was, I believe she wanted to have her revenge on him for "killing" her.

Is it horrible that I felt bad for Adrian? I don't think he was evil. He just got dealt a crap hand. I am not sure wat I would have felt if it were me who found my brother dead and from suicide no less. It doesn'texcuse what he did but as Josh said at least it's a reason, albeit not a good one. I just empathize with Adrian. Poor kid...what a thing to see at 16.

I kinda felt bad for him too, and I'm really happy that he turned himself in, I wonder though if we would've done it had she not recognized him. I thought that the fact that painted her hand, but never tried to seek justice wasn't cool though, he knew what he did, he was supposed to step forward. But I was really happy with the fact that Nastya/Emilia/Sunshine was able to forgive him, and let it go.

I think he feelt like he got a second chance whenno one came after him. He tried to heal himself through his art. I don't understand the whole painting her hand with the pearl button. The only thing I can think of is that he told her that he remembers pieces of what happened and he has that vision of the hand but didn't understand its meaning. He may not even remember that it had something to do with the attack. He didn't strike me as someone whi is cruel, so I don't think he would have painted it to mock or torment.

I do like the fact that Emilia brought the same chocolate cake she made the first time she went to the Leighton's the first time she went back as Emilia. And I especially loved how Josh didn't even know she would be there. I am a little disappointed that him seeing her there didn't have more of an emotional reunion.

Well I thought the author just didn't focus on what happened, and instead focused on what it meant that she came back as Emilia. What did you think of the very last scene, I thought it was absolutely beautiful.

I loved that scene. I expected it to happen but still it was so beautiful. They saved each other and that is a rare relationship. Kindred spirits. I don't think Josh would haved loved the Emilia she used to be. I think she was wrong when she said that was like everyone else and wanted her to be how she was before. I think he saw her pain and didn't know how to take it away. But he fell in love with the girl that didn't talk, not Brighton's Piano Girl.

Thats true, and I think that was part of the reason why she spoke to him. That and the fact that she saw his garage in her sea of tranquility. I really enjoyed this book, I can't think of one that had this much emotional drama that I liked this much in a really long time.

Same here Shanna. There was so much emotion in this book. It just pulled me in and kept me engrossed in the book. I felt like I was there with the characters in the book as their stories unfolded.

The part that killed me most in this book is the look on Drew's face when he walked in Kevin's room. I felt his turmoil and guilt about he thought happened or could have happened to Emilia. I really think that is the moment he truly lost his innocence.

And is it me or is there something seriously f*cked up about Emilia giving herself a Russian name when she moves with her aunt? That is seriously messed up.

Well its the name Adrian called her, when he first got her, he called her Nastya, and a whore, thats why she began dressing like a whore as well.

Yeah I think Drew was incredibly torn up about the whole thing, in a way that I think surprised both him and Josh. He realized how badly that could've gone, and what could've happened not just to him and Nastya, but his relationship with his best fried as well.

I'm so glad you liked it, Marcella and Shanna! I really ended up liking Drew.

I know it is the name he called her, which is why it seriously disturbed me she used it.

I have to say that one of my favorite moments in the book was when they were at her parent's house the night she turned up. Josh and Drew werein her room like they were guarding her. And when Drew told her mother that she eas family. That is one of the most beautiful moments I have ever read.

I just loved this book so much. I can't say enough about. I am seriously sad that it is over.

One thing I wanted to ask because I don't remember them being specific about Emilia's injuries other than her hand and scars. Am I the only one that got the impression that she can never have children?

I assume that he took a knife to her, and prolly stabbed her if not then the kicks that he gave her were then really really intense, and managed to do some extreme damage, but I think it was a knife or something sharp at least that he took to her stomach, the scar on her face was from her hair being pulled that it broke the scalp im guessing. Not too sure about that one.

I know he had a knife but I don't remember any mention of him using it on her. All I remember reading was him kicking her repeatedly. I thought the scars were from surgery to repair whatever damage his blows did to her.

Well I don't think her whole experience was described just a part of it.

One of my favorite moments, that pail of pennies and making wishes in the fountains, it was so romantic for him to do that.

Oh and buying her every flavor of ice cream

Those are beautiful moments, Shanna! The pennies was my favorite moment... amazing!

My favorite Josh/Emilia moment was when they were laying in the bed of his truck and they cuddled. Another favorite of mine was the first time Emilia spent the night at Josh's house in his bed and she reaches out to him and they hold hands. They are just so beautiful.

The one thing I wish that would have loved to have happened is for Emilia to speak to Clay. I think he would have been someone who would have kept her secret.

Yeah, is it just a wedding no reception? I do weddings on the weekend with my MIL so we have some Friday night weddings but not many during the week unless it's just a wedding, no reception.

Um well its 12.12.12, so I guess its the appeal, and also its a holiday here on thursday, but its the entire wedding it starts at 4, so I don't know what time its going to end, so I want to start early.

Well I can see why people would want their wedding on 12/12/12.

Ok guys im on page 67 (about 15% in) and I have to say with this much baggage so early in the book, I'm wondering where this is going to go.

Well, its getting heavier, like what I thought it was in the beginning I'm starting to realize it's more...

But yeah I think he's gonna have to work hard

However, I am into the book so far.
