Robin (robinlayne) | 72 comments It's 9:16 p.m., and I'm turning into a zombie. I want to finish rinsing the dishes so I can turn on the dishwasher, but I'm too tired. Don't want to go to bed because it's so early for me, but maybe I need it.

J.S.: Yes, I understood that the miscarriage was your Bad Time. I was just concerned about your running out of heat in your home, so I was thinking that if it got very cold there that would be a pretty bad time in a different way.

HAHA, It is definitely appreciated!! My husband fortunately works at a hospital as a speech pathologist, so he's seen a LOT of unpleasant things and said stuff like that didn't bother him. Well, one day, he went to the store, and he asked me if I needed anything. I said sure, and told him what I needed. Let's just say, he didn't want to call me because he wanted to prove he could do it on his own. I have to say, I was impressed: He got exactly what I wanted. Now, when he made the mistake..ONE TIME...of asking if I had pms while we were dating....He learned from that, and has NEVER said it again. We've be married for over two and a half years. ;)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 23 comments LMAO!!!

I tend to go out to get that stuff for my wife, and I am so skittish getting it I have to buy like a soda or candy bar to go with it. It is as if I went in for candy and just decided to pick it up. I think that is worse than being slightly embarrassed. I must look like a deer in headlights trying to find the right thing for her.

Carrion Comfort is thrilling to read, but sometimes i feel like a need a shower because of the cruel, filthy behavior of our bad guy(s)... I have had 2 cups of coffee, eggs, toast and fed the cat at the end of the bed. ...why won't she leave?

Hi, J.S!

First and foremost, I just wanted to express my condolences for your loss. How very awful...:(

Secondly, I think you write beautifully. Always listen to that inner voice and never give up. I believe that God put you on this earth to write, so that your words might inspire others. I know you've been an encouragement to me.

message 84: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinlayne) | 72 comments It's 12:36 a.m., and, thanks to this conversation, I'm drinking one of those chocolate shakes that are supposed to help you lose weight--only it's years old and tastes kind of funny. Speaking of funny, I have laughed a great deal reading this thread tonight. I had never heard the term "the crimson wave" before, and I wondered how you guessed. Speaking of this crimson wave, it inspired me Saturday during my writers' salon to write about my female vampire character waking up to a very difficult morning, low on iron and feeling like she's starving. It is the first step to her doing something even she swore she would never do... and hence leads to a great turning point in my novel. I still have to decide the details, or enough of them that it works for me. Since my vampire isn't a POV character in this story, handling this turning point will be tricky. I have more mundane details to work out in earlier parts, though.

I have been thinking things about Christine. The fact that she doesn't eat candy or chocolate adds to these thoughts. Of course these things are not good for Christine. Christine runs on gasoline! Hey, it even rhymes. Maybe I could think of a poem about her.
(No offense intended, Christine. It's just that we have more than one Stephen King fan here. Feel free to joke about my name as well.)

So what is Carrion Comfort about, and who wrote it? How DO you comfort carrion? Or is the carrion comforting to something or someone else?

I would like to add that I spent most of the day going through the guide to Wordstock, a book fair in my area, and trying to decide which events to attend. So many good things to choose from! You should all live by Portland, Oregon, so you could get in for the whole weekend for only $10! Aren't you jealous? You would be if you read the schedule. Now if only I felt I could afford the workshop on writing a series.

Alondra Miller ... *sighs*... it is 10:12am ET. I am on Ch. 48 and am completely stressed and anxiety-ridden with this book. I am so engrossed and actually left bed at 12:42am to go read in my reading corner....

I am sipping coffee, making a mental grocery list and contemplating a marathon read to finish this book.

*sigh*

Coffee and reading sounds good...Maybe I'll join you! hahahaha!!! I would love to finish this book this weekend because I gotta know what happens!! I think I am going slow on it so I can visualize everything going on. Simmons did a great job describing everything, I feel like I have the places all mapped out in my head.

Robin (robinlayne) | 72 comments Hi, everyone! It's 10:36 a.m., and I finally made another post on my blog because I found something I wanted to talk about--mainly Wordstock! And I am trying to get my bird to wolf whistle again like he did while I was catching up on reading this thread. Now he just wants to eat, it seems.
Oh, and I went ahead and paid for the workshop, after all. If I starve this winter, I starve. If I freeze, I freeze. I'm taking the risk because I want to start this book series right. It's not as expensive as I thought it was, but it does add up. I will probably pack lunches for Saturday, saving me money and time that I can spend enjoying it all. You can eat your lunch while listening to speakers there.
