David Kummer | 115 comments I'm looking to give away free review copies for my new book, Until We Burn: A Psychological Thriller. I can do any format.

Is this the best one I've written? Glad you asked. Yes it is.

I could go on and on, but there's no need. Read the description, and you'll see for yourself why it's so captivating :) I really would love to give any of you a free copy that you could review on Amazon or Goodreads. I love the people I've met here.

You'll never see the ending coming.

"Cyrus Street never forgot about his home. It was always in the back of his mind, with the memories, the nightmares. Alluring, always pulling him back. There were so many questions unanswered. Something he left behind.

When he finally returns, he's drawn back into a world even worse than he remembers. Werifesteria, with its dark secrets and murky past, never changed. It remains a cesspool, a danger. There's something about the town unnerving, yet enticing. It isn't normal. It isn't sane.

As soon as Cyrus steps back into it, the murders begin. He's the only one can catch this madman, if he can only control his mind.

Everybody remembers the fire. Everybody remembers him. But there's a darkness he's buried inside his own head. And unless he can remember, the entire town will burn."

Jeff McMahon | 3 comments Hi - I'd love to get some reviews of my children's illustrated poetry collection Running to the Sun. I have a new book coming out so I'm trying to build some traction. I have it in PDF and .mobi formats, but the PDF is large due to the illustrations so I would send a Dropbox link to anyone interested. It's nice light reading that you can read all at once, or take it a bit at a time. Here's a quick blurb:

In the spirit of the wonderful books by Shel Silverstein, these beautifully illustrated verses and story-poems come to life with memorable characters and messages that will appeal to youngsters, parents, grandparents, adults, teens, and basically children of all ages. This poetry collection will become a favorite that you will turn to again and again, for bedtime reading, family time, or if you just need a smile to brighten your day.

If interested, email me at jeffmcmahon13@gmail.com with your preferred format..

Justin Lincoln (greatlitrpg) | 1 comments Hi Goodreads! This is my first book, so I would love if you guys gave it some honest feedback! The synopsis is below and you can contact me at

J.lincoln1174@yahoo.com

Synopsis:

After being approached by the military with a contract he couldn't refuse, JAMES winds up uploaded into a virtual reality game as a beta tester. Waking up in the Great Savanna, James struggles with a less-than-useful interface before he comes across two creatures locked in battle. The shoulder high grass allows him glimpses of a lion-esque creature fending off a torrent of scales and claws. Sneaking up to steal a better look at the surreal situation, James discovers two things.

1. Getting hurt in the game.... well hurts!

2. This noble race of lion-men, named Martyrs, have almost been decimated by the scaled lizard creatures.

By unwillingly saving the life of a Martyr cub, James is adopted into their village. He grows to love the beauty of the Great Savanna and his adopted game brother, whose life he saved... That is until PATRICK arrives, and the tranquility of the game is shattered.

James embarks on a mission for answers to his steadily increasing list of questions. On the top of that list,

"What the hell happened to the human race, and where is my damn brother!?"

Blurb:

I am a cheat.

And I know what I am doing is wrong. I feel sick to my stomach all the time and have difficulty breathing just thinking about it. Sicker still at the thought of getting caught!
I want to stop, but more than that I want to carry on because I believe something can become of this.

I am the girl most girlfriends worry about, but hope doesn't exist.

I am who he is meeting when he tells you 'he can't see you tonight because he's having dinner with Gran'.

It's me making him sweaty on Sunday and not 'footy with the lads', they think he’s hurt his hand, given him time off for injury. It works just fine when he’s stripping off my clothes and running his palm up and down my skin.

I am cheating.

It's immoral and something I swore I could never do. Would never do. "Never say never" because never has just come. I am cheating with him, but not only that, I am cheating myself. I deserve better than sly meetings quickly arranged when its convenient for both of us and no one is around for us to get caught.

8 months ago, I said I would quit.

End things before I invested more time and emotion into 'a relationship' that was likely to cause nothing but pain.

I am addicted.

Just can't get enough of him. It's bordering on obsession. I see his face when I am making love to my boyfriend. Feel disappointed when i get a phone call and the voice on the other end is not his. I am an addict and want to quit, but when all is said and done I'm stuck on the high. I am addicted and worse still I think he knows. Calls me just when I am about ready to walk away. Reels me back in when my confidence is wavering, and I feel cheap, because a couple of whispered sweet nothings and I am right back in there. Once again tricked into thinking he's worth it.

That together we're worth it.

That the 'girlfriend code' means nothing because I could possibly have a future with him. All those adolescent promises, 'chicks over dicks', 'hoes over bros' and 'sisters over misters' were simply clichés.

Was I meant to pick my best friend who I had already dedicated 22 years of my life to, over the possibility of dedicating the rest of my life to the man of my dreams?
The one guy who had managed to bring the words "I Love You" to the tip of my tongue. So that at the beginning, middle and end of every conversation a battle of words ensued in my mouth. I couldn't begin to tell you how many times I'd said 'I...i...i...L...l.l.l....like you' in response to his numerous declarations of love. I whole heartedly put both my hands and feet into this 'relationship' (and every other body part since we were intimate) but I didn't want to commit my heart as well as my soul!

He was the dream guy.

When I was eleven I had planned my life out so well. I knew for sure that when I was older I would be Beautiful, Rich and Famous. I'd have the car that everyone wanted. More girls would hate me than like me, because I'd be perfect. And I'd have the perfect dream man.
I never would have guessed that the dream man I was so hooked on wasn't my dream but my best friend's.

Seems like I'm cheating on everyone.

Jamie | 1 comments Hello,

"Wrong Fu" is a non-fiction collection of essays written for a lay audience, although there is a clear target towards people interested in the martial arts to some degree. I provide critical thinking commentary on the subculture of martial arts more so than anything technical and I think readers with a passing interest in human society and culture would be intrigued. Please see below description from the Amazon page and link to the e-book:

"This unique collection of essays, provides a prequel to Jamie Clubb’s multi-volume work, 'Bullshitsu and the Fight to Make Martial Arts Work'.

Turning the critical eye inwards, Jamie asks vital questions that highlights how far irrational thought has permeated the martial arts subculture. Other essays focus on logical fallacies that are often used to promote individual styles or schools, the dangers of narrow-mindedness, the many mistakes of martial arts documentaries, the cult of many so-called reality-based combat systems and finally the power of embracing one’s mistakes when training in martial arts."

If you are interested, I will be delighted to send you a review copy.

Please email me via Reddit or on jamie@clubbchimera.com

For years now, the Lower Kingdom has been ruled by fear. Most people barely scraped by, and their Fae neighbors did their best to destroy everything human - they enslaved mortals, imposed death sentences for the slightest infractions, and outlawed human magic, depriving mankind of its best means of defense.

Lia's old life is gone. Along with her home. Her friends. Her family.

But Lia won't be beaten down. She won't be silenced.

No matter what it costs her, Lia won't rest until she gets her revenge.

The summer stretched well into October that year which was longer than usual. (meaning the year was longer than usual? how?)

Alexa Padgett | 2 comments Hi, all! I have a murder mystery launching 8/14/18. I'm looking for honest reviews to add. My email is alexa@alexapadgett.com

They murdered her sister. They threatened her church. But their day of reckoning will cost her everything...

When Cici Gurule finds the dead body of a parishioner in the nearby Santa Fe National Forest, she's horrified to realize the victim bears the same stab wounds that ended her twin sister's life one year earlier.

Now, as a freewheeling, progressive reverend who'll stop at nothing to protect her flock, she'll need to join forces with her detective friend and loyal pair of Great Pyrenees to hunt down the killer before she's forced to officiate another funeral.

Soon, however, Cici discovers her sister was on the trail of a deep-rooted criminal operation, and her death was no random act of violence. With the criminals out for Cici's blood, she needs to catch the wolf by the tail…before it goes in for the kill.

Alexandra McCann | 2 comments Hi, please let me know if anyone would like to review my book in exchange for a free copy. The book will be released soon and is called Angels Can't Swim. Here is a synopsis:

Three college juniors. A swim team. A manipulative coach. Unexpected life circumstances. A girl struggling with her sexuality. A story that you will not forget.

Angels Can’t Swim is a novella that captures so many elements of the life of a student-athlete, from mental health to sexuality to relationships. While partially a story about swimming, it is also the story of finding yourself, finding your voice, and figuring out who you want to be. Focusing on college students and those around them but dealing with issues that cross the lifespan, readers from young adult all the way up will all enjoy this book and find something in one of the characters that sounds a little bit like them.

Kurt Smith (kurtguy9782) | 4 comments Hi everyone,

I have an epic fantasy that I am seeking honest reviews in exchange for a free copy. Let me know if you're interested!

It is called The Descendants Book One: The Broken Scroll and is the first a planned trilogy. The 2nd volume is nearing completion as well.

Here's a quick synopsis:

The Ancient race destroyed itself in the War of Purity a thousand years ago. None survived, or so it is thought. However, two Descendants of this race emerge at a time when the land needs them most….

Two rulers in the land, a king and an army commander, conspire to search for a powerful artifact that could reunite those left in the world with Descendant blood. Davin of Lemirre, a young man who isolates him from most his community, finds out he is Descendant of this same supposedly extinct race of beings about the same time as another Descendant escapes the clutches the kingdom’s army.

Davin must learn to find his way in a world that he has ignored and learn Driocht, a magic that merges dark matter and the Ancients' great intelligence to harness elemental powers. He sets off with the others – all having flaws of their own – on a journey to find the long lost item.

In the end, the true threat will be someone they never expected, connected to the Descendants' violent past, with power they never could have imagined.

Asteroid Fever
Asteroid Fever by Robert Zwilling

It's Earth 2037, where people eat genetically medicated food or sip insect plasma laced with Martian microbes. Mining asteroid dust has revitalized civilization providing unlimited energy and resources. Asteroid Fever has replaced gold fever, with murder, plundered mining ships, treasures awarded by musical chairs, and detectives who can see the past imprinted on solid surfaces when they feel like it. Everyone is gaming the system but only those who don't play are winning this time around. Prezz Gredloy’s dream of conquering Free Space collides head on with the Queen of Sippers clandestine plans for a one way trip to the stars. Will the mysterious Streamers, tourists’ brains hijacked by wayward medical nanobots, be able to tip the balance of power? The seemingly unrelated events all have one thing in common, nothing is what it seems to be. It's all covered by the highly entertaining Dreaming News which also sells dreams for a restful night's sleep. In this surrealistic novel everyone is going for the same slice of pie leaving the other pieces untouched.

Airi Magdalene (airimagdalene) | 1 comments I independently published a book called Victim. It's kind of profane and violent. It's written from the perspective of a 20 year old girl whose sister falls victim to a serial killer massacring young women in her town. She's determined to kill the killer for selfish reasons, but things take an unusual turn. She thinks she's found the guy, but they get along. It kind of touches on how human connection can be difficult and there's a lot of commentary on social media and modern society. It's the first book in a trilogy.

I would like to send you a digital copy (in any format you want - even Microsoft Office if you prefer) for your review consideration. You can say whatever you want about it, even if your final opinion is that I'm an idiot for writing it. I don't want to tell you at all what your opinion should be. My email is cmo2904@gmail.com.

***
The dream had been troubling her for as long as she could remember. In it, she’s holding a glass, she drinks from it, then she falls down, and that’s the end of her life… her former life.

When It’s Murder is a paranormal-thriller/suspense about a girl, Emilia, who has a recurrent dream, in which she drinks from a glass and dies. She sees a fortune teller who tells her about reincarnation. Emilia doesn’t believe at first, but later finds herself obsessed with the notion, an obsession that lands her in Texas, in the house of Samuel Lake.

Emilia believes that she was born the day Samuel Lake’s wife, Michelle died seventeen years ago, and she has come back for reason, which she doesn’t know. But how would she be able to convince Samuel and his son Kevin to believe her story and to help her find her purpose without sounding crazy?

I'm curious - why state 'it's KIND OF profane...'? It's either profane or not - if you're going to go full-on with profanity [and I assume you understand the ramifications of that by your use of this phrase] then just say so.

While I avoid profanity [reading or writing], I actually applaud your upfront disclosure - it saves me the trouble of having to research it to avoid it.

I've never understood the fascination for including explicit profanity or sex scenes [I'm old school - I still call 'nudity' in movies 'porn'], when most authors doing so KNOW that they are cutting off 10-20% of their potential audience... is your audience so large [or small] that you can afford to offend that many potential readers? I've researched this and I've never seen where it works the other way [that is - gaining an EXTRA 10-20% readers, because you've lost that much to start with].

It's a topic that's been hashed out elsewhere [to the proverbial zero sum], and I only bring it up to encourage you to stick to your convictions rather than dipping your toe into them. If you're going to use 4-letter words [and soft or hardcore porn], then say so proudly. Those of us who avoid that sort of thing will respect you more for your honesty - and you will avoid frustrated reviews from readers who weren't expecting it that spent money they never would. I consider warning labels a form of honesty.

Good luck with your venture!

Eugenia Chu | 38 comments Hi! Anyone here interested in children's books? I'm always looking for reviews for my book, Brandon Makes Jiǎo Zi (餃子), which has a little Mandarin Chinese in the story. If you're interested, please email me at chueugenia@yahoo.com and I will gladly send you a free pdf of my book.

The story is about a young boy named Brandon who gets a surprise visit from his grandma from China, Pó Po (婆婆). While Brandon and Pó Po (婆婆) are making Chinese dumplings, called jiǎo zi (餃子), Brandon makes a mess and he and Pó Po (婆婆) have a good laugh! They chat and bond over the experience. Then Brandon eats and eats and eats and makes a surprise at the end that delights the whole family! This story includes some conversational Mandarin Chinese (including Pinyin – pronunciation). Elena Hearty | 1 comments Hi there! I'm excited to re-release my first novel, Donor, which was originally published in 2011 under Samhain Publishing's horror line.

Please note: This book lies somewhere between light horror and dark comedy, and is intended to be more fun than frightening.

Description: Richard is a modern vampire who likes to eat in. That's why he always keeps a fresh victim trapped in his home. All of his captives eventually die; Lenore hopes to be the first to escape.

Life at Richard's is short but never dull. Not with Richard's vampire friend, Paul, constantly popping in. Paul loves toying with Richard's victims before they die. But is Paul getting too attached to his plaything? His human servant, Charles, certainly thinks so. Charles is next in line to be turned and wants to eliminate the competition.

If Charles's schemes don't kill Lenore, then Richard's hunger surely will. Lenore has a plan to survive, but someone will have to die in her place. She now has something terrible in common with her captor: she must kill in order to live.

The book will be free on Amazon this afternoon and all of tomorrow.

The Crow - a poignant tale of misunderstanding, dying, blame and bitterness.
The Crow (A Red Grouse Tale) by Leslie W.P. Garland This story, which centres on our almost desperate desire to leave something to mark our lives upon this earth, is told as a history recounted by Dave, of the time when he, as a child, was taken by his mother to a hospice where he met a dying and embittered old Irish priest known as Mad Father Patrick, who told him about the school days and subsequent rise of a local councillor, Reginald Monday, and of his (Monday's) involvement in the construction of a dam which flooded a valley. Father Patrick's increasingly mad tale is told with a blend of biblical quotations, philosophical musings and wild fantasy, but how does it end and just why is he so bitter?
An adult fantasy story for those who like to think about what they are reading.

Also available at the same time, though at the bargain price of $£0.99 are:-
The White Hart

The Bat

All 3 are available FREE at any time on Kindle Unlimited.
Reviews on Goodreads and Amazon would be appreciated.
Enjoy!
