I'm debating between

But of course I started a completely different book for the shelf already

For the Catch Up shelf I'll be double dipping with the Dance Challenge and reading

Title/Author: The Ideal Wife (Dark Angel, #5) by Mary Balogh
Read for shelf: *Series Catch-up
Date finished: Oct 16
Rating: ★★½
There wasn't much to this improbable story - hero proposes marriage to heroine within 10 minutes of meeting her for really crazy and stupid reasons. Marriage was such a serious business back then - with no way out if it didn't work - that you could never imagine somebody taking such a step without at least knowing the bride's first name. Of course, it works beautifully for them. How unlikely!
Whatever conflicts there were came because of the heroine's impulsiveness. Balogh has been known to have a zany heroine here and there but this one wasn't that likeable because she was just so crazy. I couldn't believe that with all the crazy shit she was doing, that the hero would just laugh at her schemes.
The last two books in the series look more promising but I'm not sure you really need to read this one to get the background.

Completed: October 15th, 2012
Shelf: catch up
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★
Review: As with the first book in this series...AWESOME! I love the characters in this series and this book is just another fun peek into their lives. Oberon is also the greatest dog character ever written, hands down! :) I enjoyed this story in part for all the great mythological background that the writer hands over but also for a bit of development in the relationship/past of The Morrigan. Fun stuff and I am continuing on with the series as I write this since I moved right on to read

So we are only one review in the Favorite Author shelf and two away from the Free Space and UF shelves.

I know Sherri was done with a couple of books but she still needs to post the reviews.

Finished A Sliver of Darkness last night and I can't wait to read A Trace of Moonlight. It was SO good and it ended on a cliff hanger! I'm so glad I can read the next one right now and not have to wait for it. :-)

my review
I really liked this book. The time travel dilemmas were covered well, the battle scenes were authentic and gripping, the love scenes were compelling, the various relationships of the character's were realistic and kept me interested throughout the book. I fell in love with numerous character's and felt the plot was believable, exciting, enthralling, and written very well.
The only downside was the length, this should have been split into 2 books.

It would give your team the Free Space stamp :)

Title/Author: Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews
Read for shelf: demons
Date finished: Oct 23
Rating: ★★★★
I started this book a while back in print and stopped reading it - Kate just got on my nerves. So I'm really glad I gave it a chance in audio. I enjoyed it a lot after I got past the first few chapters.
The world building was intricate and very frightening! I was scared to death and disgusted in lots of the scenes. This supernaturals are not all beautiful and shiny! Needless to say that I really liked Curran. I sort of imagine him looking like Daniel Craig. ;)
Thankfully I got all the audios available so I should be able to start the next one soon. Hopefully when the next shelf is called!

Back to work

Review: Let's pretend a moment. It's almost summer and you're watching your favorite show. The climax builds and builds and suddenly TO BE CONTINUED flashes on a fade to black screen. What's going to happen next?!!? You can hardly stand to wait for the new season to start so you can find out all those answers.
Hmmm. Yeah. That's not this book.
The middle dragged instead of steadily building excitement toward the end. I even found myself doing something I never, ever do. I read ahead 10 pages, then 25, then 50 to see if the pace was going to pick back up. I did go back and read all the meh stuff; I just really wanted to know if it was worth continuing. Then, when it finished ... my first reaction was not "I have to read the next book, immediately!" Rather it was more along the line of "Really? I have to go through this all over again if I want to know what's really going on? Twice to finish the trilogy?" Note to authors: If you're going to write a cliffhanger, it better be preceded by by one spectacular story.
Maybe I'm being harsh. I seem to have a little smart aleck going on at the moment. But I'm disappointed with this book. I usually enjoy Armstrong's books. I just wish I'd skipped this particular one and spent the time rereading Elena & Clay's story instead. I seriously doubt I will be reading the other two books in the trilogy.

I have the first book in the 'Downside Ghosts' series and now I saw that it's available on Audible for $6.95. My friend Regina think I won't like the series but I want to try the books because I like the author. I'm just not sure I should fork the money for the audio! Are you reading or listening, Daffodil?

Believe it or not, that's the shortest book in the whole series. They get progressively longer as the series move along!
That Fiery Cross! I think it was over 50 hours on audio.

I still have to read #7 but I'm waiting until #8 is published. I'm not used to being caught up with this series!
The worst part is that even though #6 was so long, I wanted to start the next as soon as I finished it. :)

And Terrible is totally worth the read. LOL.

my review
The third book in the twilight series - the best so far. I was really pleased to be back in this fantasy world of vampires and werewolves, I love the escapism. The love triangle of Jacob, Edward and Bella was covered very well, the emotions of all were very real. The outcome of this was the desired one but I will always feel for Jacob. The battle scenes were cool without being too gruesome. The plot was as entertaining as the first two books and ended with me wanting to start the next book very soon.
There is nothing majorly clever or on the scale of a literary masterpiece but it is a very good, light, easy to read series that is excellent for taking you away from whatever real-life problems you are having at the time.

I love these books and always have! I though, am a sick girl who doesn't let the length get in the way...because I just inform my family that I am checking out of my life when a new book comes out. I'm unstable and I actually plan for it. Whenever Kim Harrison, Jim Butcher, or Diana Gabaldon puts out a new book I just hand over the key card to life and say, "See you all on the flip side!" Then I spend 18 straight hours reading An Echo in The Bone. :) Oh yeah, I'm all sorts of healthy. Hhhhmmmmmm.
On the flip side D.G., you did a good thing by not reading #7 yet. It ranks in my top three for the, "You have absolutely got to be $h!tt!ng me!!!!! You are ending it there?!?" Award. It would have been great to have #8 in hand for that to be sure. I'm so excited for her to finally put that dang book out, sheesh! :)
