The shelf announcement should be in about 8-10 hrs.

I'm OK with The Unforgettables but not sure I like the 4 in the middle or putting four in caps. Do we want to vote on the spell..."
When you figure out how you want it, just post something here. :D

Just a suggestion for 'quirk' with the spelling. :) I think everyone has voted yes for Unforgettables spelled normally now so I say tell Steph it's a go. :)

Week one and a fun one to start with! I feel really good about this round. I sense 4 and 5 star books coming my way this whole round. I'm starting with something to make me laugh -

Have you ever noticed how making the decision to read a book never actually makes your TBR smaller? Or is that just me? ;P

LOL, Dana. I thought the same thing so I'll just tell Steph that we'll go with that. :)

This book was currently on my TBR and I just opened it and started reading it. I wish I could pick most books so easy!

BTW - I'm computerless for now (except for at work) until I can get my laptop back from my mom. She borrowed it for a project and my desktop unit bit the big one Saturday night. After unsuccessfully trying to resurrect it on Sunday I took it to the computer repair shop. Nothing for 2 days and so far $79 poorer.

Review: These stories are starting to get a little more 'crass' than I would like but honestly they are funny and dragons are my fav-sups of all time! Vigholf and Rhona's story had a much needed element that most of the others lacked - craftsmen. :) I had started to wonder if all the dragons were just magicians, warriors, or warrior magicians. It's nice to see one that does something else. I also loved that Vigholf was supportive and helped Rhona stand up for what she wanted when she needed to break out of the family mold. Most of the males in these stories have been uber-machismo-thickheaded but Vigholf was surprisingly 'partner-like' and WOW...is that a change for this setting.
Lots of fun and I will definitely continue with the series. I, in fact, finished the next book this morning!

I'm barely 1/4 of the way through my book. It's going well, it's just that my reading has gone soo slow lately!

Rating: 4 stars
Review: Tybalt's small role in Book 3, An Artificial Night, was a major drawback for me, so I was definitely happy to see more of the Cait Sidhe King in this book. What didn't make me happy was the love triangle possibilities surrounding Toby, Tybalt and Connor. Toby may have had a relationship with Connor in the past, but I don't really feel the connection between them in the here and now.
Toby's friends are being poisoned and her life is on the line; she must prove who the real culprit is before she's condemned for the crime herself. Toby's investigation once again leads her to separate herself from Tybalt, Quentin, etc in order to protect them and others. However, unlike in the last book, I don't find it as jarring. This time, her journey doesn't come across as a solitary one.
Hints about Toby's family have been revealed throughout the first 3 books and in the latest one, Tybalt came right out and said someone had been lying to her. Important information about Toby's past/heritage is finally revealed in this book and I'm eager to read the next book and see how it affects her life and interactions with others.
I'm definitely going to be reading the next book, One Salt Sea.

finished 20 Sep 2012 I gave it 4/5 stars
My Review
I really liked this book, the bond between Lissa and Rose is an aspect of the book which I find links the whole together and makes their relationship so much stronger.
The character's are easily identifiable with in many different ways, there are people you will love to hate, people you care deeply about what happens to them, people you fall in love with and a mix of other people who will have milder more normal emotions towards.
It is written very well and flows nicely, it leaves you with the desire to read more and start the next in the series but I still wouldn't say it was one of my favourite books. I really liked it rather than loved it so I give this book 4/5 stars.

I hope to have my first book read by tomorrow. I've been so slow this time around! Hopefully I'll get better next week.

Title/Author: The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
Read for shelf: kick-ass heroine
Date finished: Sep 22
Rating: ★★★½
The Girl of Fire and Thorns has a very interesting premise: an insecure girl finds her path to greatness. Chosen by God, she's supposed to deliver her people from evil but she doesn't know how. The book deals with her transformation from pastry obsessed girl to secure leader.
But the story left me emotionally untouched. Lots of bad things happened but I didn't seem to care for them, maybe because they were a bit whitewhashed. Sometimes it seemed to me there was more discussion of food than real emotion.
The book will clearly have a sequel but it seems forced to me. The end of this book left things pretty much settled so I don't know why there's a need for a book 2. Not sure if I'll be reading it.

Review: Good God could this series get any better? This book was just amazing! The developments in the characters that you would consider the villains were spectacular and the protagonist developments were indescribable! I was pleased to see that some mental/physical development was scheduled for Kip in addition to seeing all he would be learning to do magically as time passed. Seeing more of the inner workings of the Chromeria was great and helped with some of the political aspects of the story. All I can say is, "Andross Guile? Are you kidding me?!?"
Overall, at the end, this installment in the series left me with that Empire Strikes Back feeling where I know it will all get better, but dang! Does it have to suck so much for the good guys? They just froze Han Solo in carbonite?!? What?!?
I'll definitely read more...like in a decade when more comes out..........yeeeeeeeeeeaaaars from now. *sniff*

This is not a GR shelf, just pick a book from one of your personal favorite authors and enjoy.

Sounds like a good book, glad you enjoyed it. I've not read any Brent Weeks yet, but I've been thinking about trying out his Night Angel series.

I'll wait until Tuesday to see if

If not, then I'll read

Saying that, I've got the first Lightbringer but haven't ventured there yet, but I will eventually.

Is this author one who does strong plot, great setting...and the worlds least memorable characters? If so, that's a bummer for you. I had heard similar from library patrons as well.
I think all authors need to realize that no matter how great your 'story' is, if the characters are crappy the story is doomed. Would you like to do exciting things your whole life but always surrounded by dull lifeless people. Orrrrr, would you like a moderate or even dull life that was full of entertaining, smart, and funny people? Well, DUH, the answer is B! You can't have
a dull life if it is stuffed with interesting and funny peeps! C=

Awww crud! I should have put that whole Han Solo thing in a (view spoiler)
The Night Angel books are super BTW. I read the first two a year or two ago but have decided to reread them so I can really enjoy reading the last of the trilogy. Soooooo, since I am already started, I'll use the last of the trilogy as my book this week.
For favorite author I will be reading
