Daffodil (Daffodil--RIPCranberry) | 2098 comments I've been thinking about team names and haven't been able to come up with anything particularly clever.

Do we want to use 4 in the the name? All I could come up with was a play on four/force -- Driving FOURce (I'm not remotely attached to this, it's just all I could think of at the moment.)

Or a play on dead/read? Such as Read to the World? (Has this been used?)

Or just a general name? I got nothing.

Hmmm! My brain's just not working at the moment. Maybe I'll have some more ideas after lunch.

message 11: by D.G. (last edited Sep 16, 2012 09:24AM) (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments Wow! The first team I checked turned out to be mine. :)

Hi Daffodil! Hi Adele! Hi everybody else! Nice to meet you all. :)

I see some familiar faces but here's the rundown:

I'm 36 and live in NYC. I'm married - no children - and reading is my main hobby.

Oh I can be the captain if you guys want. I created a spreadsheet for the last one that really makes it easy to keep track of everything and I can do it for this one as well. :)

For some reason the name that came to my head was Four Non Blondes (like the band.) Of course, we are more than 4 and we may have some blondes in the mix, LOL!

Another with 4:
4 elements
4 Noble Truths

There are lots of words that start with For or Fore:
The Unforgettables
Something with Foreplay!
- Wicked Foreplay?
- Experts in Foreplay?
- Naughty Foreplay?
- Sexy Foreplay? LOL!)
Foreshadow (this is literary so it could work if we can find how to use it)
hotness aforethought
fortune tellers
seers of fortune
sirens of fortune

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) | 83 comments DG I am happy for you to be captain, I am captain over at CCC, I don't have any ideas for team names.

message 13: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (Daffodil--RIPCranberry) | 2098 comments Heteronyms makes life confusing. It only took me a couple hours to realize Read to the World could come across as an eighties fundraising song take-off rather than a clever play on the word dead. LOL.

More 4 thoughts:
Irresistible Force
Forces of Nature

I like D.G.'s Unforgettables.

Good Luck This Round!

Skandia (SFGirl) | 566 comments So that the Sultry-gang would be complete :)- Good luck D.G. and to your team also, have fun and read tons of good books!

message 19: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments Thanks Sultries! :)

Hopefully we'll hear from Nici, Dana and Sherri today so we can decide on a name and get rolling.

I need to start checking out the books for the Free Space Read!

message 20: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (Daffodil--RIPCranberry) | 2098 comments I was thinking that over, too. I want to have my Free Space book ready to start as soon as the game begins. I have a list and I can't make up my mind which one to go with.

Killing Rocks (The Bloodhound Files #3) by D.D. Barant Black Night (Black Wings, #2) by Christina Henry Summoning the Night (Arcadia Bell, #2) by Jenn Bennett are at the top of the list, unless I can track down a copy of Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels World, #1) by Ilona Andrews.

message 21: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments Wow! Except for the Kate Daniels, I don't know any of those.

I'm thinking of these ones:
Assassin's Honor (Order of the Sicari, #1) by Monica Burns Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2) by Carolyn Crane Urban Shaman (Walker Papers, #1) by C.E. Murphy Succubus on Top (Georgina Kincaid, #2) by Richelle Mead At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3) by Jeaniene Frost Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward

I've stalled in a lot of popular series and I need to decide whether I'll continue or just abandon them. So probably I'll pick one of those up.

message 22: by Daffodil (last edited Sep 13, 2012 10:16AM) (new)

Daffodil (Daffodil--RIPCranberry) | 2098 comments I know what you mean. There are actually a lot more books on the SOS shelves (that are on mine at home), but they are first in series. I'm going to try and catch-up some neglected series over the next couple of months and the Free Shelf is a perfect opportunity.

You've actually made it farther in the Ward series than I did. I quit reading after book 3 even though I continued buying the next few books. I may have even started 4 and put it away for later, I just don't remember clearly anymore. LOL. My RRRC PIFM partner chose book 4 from my TBR for me, but at this point I feel like I need to go back and reread the first three to remind myself of events.

message 23: by Adele (new)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) | 83 comments I take it the free space book has to be a series book, yes?

message 24: by D.G. (last edited Sep 13, 2012 11:11AM) (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments A Free Space book can be any book currently in the group's bookshelf. There are two other criteria but that's the broadest one...let me see if I find it.

message 25: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (Daffodil--RIPCranberry) | 2098 comments It can also be a SOS book of the month selection, past or current. And third, any book found in any of the new release threads in the current folder or the archived folder.

message 26: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (Daffodil--RIPCranberry) | 2098 comments Am I the only one that keeps wanting to go to my old team #10, instead of here on #4???

Kerstin (under_moonlit_skies) | 862 comments Hey there Daffodil, my old team #10 team-mate! I'm the same with wanting to go back to the old team number instead of my new one. Probably because I've only ever been on team #10 since I started playing a couple of rounds ago.
Good luck to you guys!

message 28: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments Daffodil wrote: "Am I the only one that keeps wanting to go to my old team #10, instead of here on #4???"

LOL, Daffodil! I've checked 17 a couple of times by mistake. :)

message 29: by Adele (new)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) | 83 comments Thanks guys I have chosen a book from the bookshelf and ordered it so it should arrive sometime in the next couple of weeks. I will read it as soon as it arrives so that we can cover the free space early on.

message 30: by Dana (new)

Dana (Erato) | 922 comments Hey there ladies! This is awesome that we are getting started again so quickly. I love it-good stuff.

I'm in for D.G. to captain if you want it girlie!

BTW, I am 39, married, have 3 kiddos, and work for the library. I live in Vancouver, WA right off the Columbia River and I love it here! Almost as much as I love to read. ;)

message 31: by Dana (new)

Dana (Erato) | 922 comments I am soooooo happy that this book is finally out! It took all my strength this week to keep from reading it...and I still have more waiting! I'll read this for my free space book. Yeah!

The Blinding Knife (Lightbringer, #2) by Brent Weeks

message 32: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments Hey Dana! Great to be teamies again!

I still need to read that first book in the Lightbringer series...maybe I'll try to get it for the challenge. :)

D.G. | 2624 comments I'll send Nici and Sherri a PM as a reminder...I see they did some updates after the teams were assigned some maybe they forgot to check!

message 35: by Adele (new)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) | 83 comments I will be reading Outlander for the free space. I have ordered it from Amazon. Been on my tbr for ages.

Hi Dana good to meet you.

message 36: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments Outlander is quite an undertaking. Good luck, Adele!

I've still yet to listen to book 7 (I started the series in audio and now can't consume it any other way.)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) | 83 comments Is there something else you would suggest D G ?

message 38: by Nici (new)

Nici (queennici102) | 627 comments good morning ladies! I am Nici from Iowa. Work full time and homeschool my two boys, 10 and 7. Reading is my biggest hobby. can't say its a hobby really though cuz i need books like i need air, its just not optional lol! I am down with DG being the captain and i like unforgettables, but maybe we can spell it unFOURgettables? lol i have no idea about what i will pick for the free space, but like Daffodil i am trying very hard to finish up some series. Checking out my fictfact list i realize i have 75 active series. That needs to be cut way down! So i am trying to fill those up in any ways I can.
Adele have you played here before? One thing i found different between these group bingo's is that in this team the category being called are shelves, where as in CCC they seem to be calling lists. Anyway, good to see all of you, can't wait to kick some bingo butt with you!

message 39: by D.G. (last edited Sep 14, 2012 06:35AM) (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments Adele wrote: "Is there something else you would suggest D G ?"

Oh I think it's a good choice. :) And perfect for Free Space because you can take your time reading it. :)

But if you want other suggestions, I can give you one or a million! There are almost 2,000 books in the group bookshelf so there are plenty of good choices. :)

message 45: by Sherri (new)

Sherri | 781 comments Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA. Have a bad case of food poisoning. :(

Thanks D.G. For volunteering to be captain.

I kinda like seers of fortune, but since we are readers would readers of fortune make more sense? otherwise un4getables would be good

message 46: by Dana (new)

Dana (Erato) | 922 comments Outlander is awesome! I know you will love it Adele.

I like unforgetables as well. UnFOURgetables? Un4getables?

message 47: by Adele (new)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) | 83 comments Hi Dana and Sherri,

Outlander isn't going to arrive until Oct 18th apparently, that is a long time to wait.

message 48: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments Hi Sherri! Glad to see you around and glad you're feeling better. :)

I'm OK with The Unforgettables but not sure I like the 4 in the middle or putting four in caps. Do we want to vote on the spelling or just tell Steph this is it? :)

message 49: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2624 comments BTW...I'm sure you're all dying to see the spreadsheet (LOL!) so here's the link for all those interested. :)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/c...

All I need to do is fill out the title and book ID (that's a GR thing) for each person and the page where you post your review and the comment # plus date and rating. All that links to a second page where it creates the link for me and I just have to copy and paste it in the thread. :)

It sounds more complicated than it is but it's really simple. :)

message 50: by Adele (new)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) | 83 comments Can't access the spreadsheet I had to send you a request through google doc to give me access.
