Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog Welcome to the Group Read for "Why Straight Women Love Gay Romance", by Geoffrey Knight.

This has been a burning question for me, and I know many, many others for quite a while now. I'm anxious to read this and then really hash it out. Join In. Don't hold back. Everybody's Welcome.

THE BLURB:

It’s one of the world’s biggest secrets, and it’s about to come out … Why do straight women love gay romance?

What is it that attracts straight women to the idea of two men falling in love? Is it the muscles? The mystery of the male mind? The idea of true love overcoming all odds? How has it changed who these women are and how they see the world? And how powerful is this once-silent army of readers in the fight for equality?

32 women across 9 countries and 4 continents – from the world’s best selling romance authors to the biggest female fans of Gay Male Romance — are about to reveal — Why Straight Women Love Gay Romance

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog I know I'm a little premature with this, since the book isn't even due out for another week or so but I thought I'd go ahead an put this up so we can discuss when we want to read it and get all of our ducks in a row.

Once I have a little more information I'll link to the books page on MLR Press and also at Amazon.

So far, I've had about 25 positive responses from friends interested in reading this together. Please feel free to invite anyone to join us. The more the merrier.

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog We could get this ball rolling by saying how we got to this point.

For me that is the point of complete distraction and obsession. I've forsaken everything else in my life for M/M romance. My children, husband, housework, bill paying, general health, etc...Okay not typically all at once but depending on what I'm reading at the moment I've definitely let things go.

So, I got here by way of J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood and specifically Qhuinn and Blay. I know I'm not alone. After reading about them I had to find out if there was more and THANK GOODNESS, there IS! A whole world of sexy, gay men ranging from smart, strong, globe-trotters to young, innocent and amorous to broken, dangerous and SEXY...and on and on.

So, yeah, that's how I got here and I should just say that my husband HAS NOT SUFFERED from my obsession. Not at all.

Monique Same here Lisa, BDB - Qhuinn and Blay - Desperate for them to be together - Frustration - pulling hair out in frustration - looking for relief in another direction - Whoa...M/M genre - Happy girl - still dying with the anticipation of Qhuinn and Blay finally getting together - best be good!!! There you have it....:)

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog LOL Monique, that was...frantic! Which is how I feel about Qhuinn and Blay most of the time anyways :D

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog Erin, nope no "group membership" required. I just started this thread right on the book's "description" page. Since all my GR friends that showed interest didn't seem to belong to any one group that I could have hosted the group read on, I just went this way. You might want to bookmark this thread to make it easy to check back. GR's notice updates aren't always the most reliable.

You're story is really interesting. I'm sorry you've had so many health issues to deal with. It sounds like you have a great attitude to use that as a path to new understanding...or to just have an excuse to discover sexy, sexy men, LOL!

I can get a little frustrated with others who judge me for reading m/m because they're not comfortable with it but you're right, it's just different. No judgement required.

So glad you're joining us. Welcome.

Ilhem Hi!
So, how did I get there?
I read m/f fanfictions for a long time and stumbled across m/m fics. I didn't read many but I liked some of them and one thing leading to another, I found a blog with great long fics I loved. The blogger also recommended books....And here I am a few years later!

message 8: by Baba (new)

Baba I joined GR in December 2010 and I never thought that I would read--and actually enjoy--a M/M novel. It's no secret at all 'cause I did it out of pure curiosity. Seems pretty lame to me but that's it. Honestly, I didn't have any soul-searching motives. Well, maybe I told myself that I could broaden my horizon. And basically I am woman who is very open-minded, and I have this creed "live and let live". To each their own. :-))

I love men and I seriously doubt that I will take the plunge into the F/F genre. I mean I'm straight as they come and I just prefer to look at hot men. So, yeah, M/M lovin' is freakin' hot and I love it. But. Besides the hot sex I really enjoy a good plot as well. I want both...good men lovin' combined with a good plot. I popped my M/M cherry last year when I was reading Zero at the Bone, and in hindsight I am so darn glad I did it. Frankly, men lovin' is my favorite genre at the moment. My very favorite M/M novels are:

Rough Canvas
Hot Head
Special Forces - Soldiers

For quite some time now I have read much more great M/M novels than M/F. Quite often M/M love is very intense and emotional and the main protagonists have to deal with difficult and/or other interesting issues. And most of the time the stories are well-written. So, I am hooked and I want more!

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog You know, Ilhem, I NEVER read fanfic before Qhuay. Then I read everything I could find. Now they're gone. Ho Hum. Luckily, I've been able to keep plenty busy with some really fantastic writing. GR's has been good to me, I've been able to find things I never would have come across otherwise.

**That's not entirely true. I read all the fanfic for Numair and Daine (Tamora Pierce)years ago. Sexy Numair.

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog Oh Damn Baba, that's beautiful. Thanks for sharing. It's hard to type...I can't...con...cen..trate.

I've got to get to Rough Canvas, I've heard lots of good about it.

I certainly didn't have expectations about M/M, I didn't think it could affect me so much. I mean, after-all, I was a dedicated PNR'r. I liked a good raunchy romance as much as the next woman. I could suck down a good mystery. BUT none of that has grabbed me like this genre.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I'm here because frankly, two cocks are better than one.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish My husband is a self righteous, full fledged card carrying (or would be if there was one) homophobe. Seriously. When our new neighbors moved in and it turned out they're gay, he got pale when I told him to go introduce himself. I asked, "What is it you're afraid of? That they'll be attracted to you? Or that you'll be attracted to them?"

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Oh, he went and introduced himself, but was still pale when he got back. He really is horrible about it.

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog LOLOL. Well, good for him then. At least he persevered.

Alex is The Romance Fox I have always been one of those mad for Mills & Boon HEAs, where a man and a woman fall madly in love and everything works out for them at the end. I have read a huge number of books in different genres but obviously there had to be some romance in the stories. I started reading erotic romance about three years ago and never did I feel the inclination or desire to read romance in the m/m sub-genre – not because I had anything against it, but just that it never grabbed me!
Discovering an exciting author and series like JR Ward’s BDB Series blew me away!!!! I fell in love with Qhuinn and could not get my head to think of him and a man having a HEA….And then – I join GR last year and a new reading world opens up for me - I joined the BDB Group and shoosh…………what an exciting experience…I must stress that it took a lot of time for those members to sway me…but in the end – yes of course I wanted Q for me….but I can deal with Blay taking him away!!!!!

Lisa – you got me going girl…….after devouring many good and not so good m/m romance books in the past few months I come to the conclusion that: I love romance and it makes no difference if it’s between m/f or m/m or f/f – and as long as it’s well written and there’s love, sex of course….that’s what matters. I have to be honest and say that two men doing it does not make me hot and turned on – I’m more inclined towards the m/m/f or m/f/m or m/f/f subgenre…that’s more of a turn on for me….but hey I can still appreciate and enjoy and even love a m/m love story like Dark Soul Series (my absolute loved and favourite), and even Ty & Zane from Cut & Run Series….and am sure am going to love the whole QHUAY hea……

There are so many incredible, talented and amazing authors writing m/m books that somehow are not given praise for their fantastic writing, which is a real shame and hopefully they will be given the opportunity to reach out to mainstream readers – writers like Aleksandr Voinov, Abigail Roux, Zathyn Priest and so many more.

I know am going to love this Group Discussion….read different viewpoints and more….and Lisa….thanks a million……boy have u being patient with me, with all my qhuay angst…..i know the truth is that we have the Iberian connection which has us pushing forward.
Sorry about the long long ramble….i promise I will keep my future posts short and “readable friendly”!!!!

ps ps ...i am not going to preview..just going to post this, because if I do I probably delete it ..so here goes!!!

message 20: by Tesa (last edited Aug 28, 2012 03:33PM) (new)

Tesa Hello everyone, and thanks for the invite Lisa! I'm so very happy to find more like-minded readers when it comes to this genre. I barely have fellow friends who read romance, let alone m/m. The transition was so smooth that I don't know why I waited so long to try m/m novels, but the root of my interest goes back to Suzanne Brockmann, but mostly Ward's BDB series. I happened to find characters I loved so much and who had such great chemistry that I did not care that they were both men.

Brockmann's character Jules was one of the first gay characters I've been exposed to in a romance series that ended up with his own story and HEA. I'm sure all of us have experienced that gay male sidekick friend who can become somewhat of a stock character offering up pithy comments and universal truths to the hero/heroine so that they can find THEIR HEA. Jules certainly seemed to be going in that direction in Brockmann's Troubleshooters series...and then came Robin. They kissed and it was HOT. More importantly they had baggage which turned into the makings of an interesting relationship dynamic that ended happily for both. BUT, the door to their bedroom, their fantasies about each other, stayed closed. I felt a bit let down by that, but still encouraged by their continued prominent presence as a couple in this series.

Blaylock and Qhuinn from BDB were the real game changers, mostly because I found myself looking forward to new installations from Ward just for glimpses of these two! I got restless waiting for their book (and had to do something besides rereading the same bookmarked passages) so I read Marie Sexton's Promises and loved it. Now I have burned through so many books I regret reading so fast, but I admit to STILL rereading those Blay/Qhuinn passages in the BDB books.

Favorites:
Adrien English series
Cut and Run series
PsyCop series
A Matter of Time series (pretty much all things Mary Calmes)
Zero At the Bone
Shades of Gray
Hot Head
Promises
Keeping Promise Rock
Rough Canvas (Joey Hill is great at writing period)
I'll Be Your Drill...Soldier (hokey name, great book)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Finding Zach by Rowan Speedwell is a great m/m story. Heartbreaking, but hopeful, too.

I'm now trying to read the Special Forces series but found the beginning somewhat difficult to get past (if you know what I mean). Does it get better or is this one of those reads that's difficult--in a good way---all the way through?

message 23: by Tangy (new) - added it

Tangy Hi guys :)
What got me started reading M/M?

Maybe just a little over a year ago, I only ever read paranormal romance. I mean I would go to Barnes & Noble and only go to that section. I have a floor to ceiling to bookshelf with the entire first four shelves dedicated to that genre. I was a serious fan.

I remember one day though when I was sick and heavily medicated(Robitussin is NO joke), I was playing on my then new IPAD. Learning how everything works, seeing what I could do on it, blah blah. I ended up illegally downloading this book just to see how cool it would look on the screen. Somewhere between flipping the IPAD in every direction and messing with the color and size of the font, I actually started reading it. It happened to be Finding Home by Cameron Dane, and for the most part I was just skimming, not really paying attention to the words. I was all 'Who cares when I got a new toy ?'. Then out of nowhere I read a line about some guys dick inside some other guys ass and I literally make this very girly squeak/strangled noise and threw my IPAD on the other side of the couch. Now I SWEAR I'm not a homophobe, it was just the most graphic thing I had every really read at that point and it scared the shit out of me. Not even 5 minutes later I crawled to the other side of the coach, -all stealth mode and shit like the book was gonna leap of the screen and bite me- and scrolled about 10 pages down and started slowly(like turtle slow) reading backward to the part I was at. I had one of my hands over my eyes and was picking through my fingers to read the anal sex part and surprised myself when I slowly lowered my hand -told myself to be a big fucking girl- and started reading faster to find out if the two guys would get a HEA. My bravado lasted up until the one of the guys started licking the other guys ass and I instantly went back to the peeking through hand bit. But I finished it and LOVED it and instantly started looking for more.
Well first I called this gay guy, Jason, from school who really only gave me his number to help with his homework and bombarded him with questions about lube, and dildos. What is felt like to have a finger in your ass, what a prostate felt like and if girls had one, did anal sex totally hurt cause the shit sounded painful, if something could tear if the guy was very well endowed, if he was the top or the bottom in his relationship, what a twink was,if licking someone's ass was really pleasurable cause the shit sounded gross, if he groomed his man parts because hair would totally add to the grossness, if a guy cuming in his ass felt as hot as it sounded. And on and on.
His response? "you do know I'm a virgin right?" lol
*shrugs* we were 18 at the time I figured gay guys moved faster than girls. I was wrong. lol. Soo he was no help whatsoever. But I totally made a best friend that day and He maintains that one of my best qualities is how I forget manners, propriety and my sometime shyness in the face of my own curiosity :)

Anywho, From then it was all I read. I probably bought about 40 M/M books in the period of 6 months and that number increased greatly as time went on. I now can only read a M/F when it's really good or highly recommended. I think a lot of the appeal comes from the fact that I will never be a gay guy, therefore it's something completely foreign to me and adds to the intrigue. Plus the vulnerability that is shown between two men is incredible beautiful and not something you get to see much anywhere else. Oh and the sex. The sex totally helps ;)

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog @Alex, I've said this before; You've Come a Long Way Baby! For a time I was worried that you were "against" m/m love but that's not it at all. You just prefer m/f, nothing wrong with that. BUT, overriding that is your love for romance, in any form. Which to me, is what it's all about anyways. I've just found the intensity of m/m to completely wrap me up.

@Tesa, I'm so glad you listed your favorites. That way I can find what I didn't know I was missing. It'll also be interesting to see who is drawn to what, if we all do that.

@Dhes, I haven't even seen that before, how can that be? Especially when all my GR friends seem to have read it :P Thanks for letting me/us know.

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog Tesa, SF is all about it's highs and lows. It'll bring you all the way up and slam you down. Just so ya know. For me, I LOVE IT!

Baba, that pic... just yum seriously, i'm supposed to be working and now... yeah I don't see any work getting done today!! lol

message 28: by Mercedes (new)

Mercedes Thanks for the invite. I came to MMromance via the TV show Sherlock. I just really loved the show and started following the tags on Tumblr. Then I started reading a lot of Sherlock fanfic and I found that I really loved reading this type of romance. A lot of the fanfic is very porny but there are also some good ones and also some very funny ones.
I belong to a message board where book recommendations are shared. Someone dropped the topic of MM romance and someone suggested the Cut & Run series to me. This was at the beginning of the summer and well I have not looked back.
I was never very big in F/M romance. It just really drives me mostly crazy. I like strong female leads and a lot of the books I have tried to read do not have that. And well, now that I have been introduced to MM romance the f/m sex scenes are just plain freacking boring to me, lol! I really can't see my self picking up very many more m/f romance books anymore.

I love romantic MM novels but also hot and sexy. Some of my faves are: Rough Draft, Faith and Fidelity (book 1 and 3), Driftwood, Cut & Run series, Hot Head.

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog Mercedes and Nathalie, so glad you're both here. After Qhuay I got Netflix just so I could watch "Queer as Folk" and "Brokeback Mountain". Loved 'em both but neither even comes close to the connection I've had with some of these reads. I'd LOVE to see Dante and Griff or Ty & Zane on screen (although Hollywood wouldn't get it right). I think I will be able to recall m/m couples much easier than m/f couples. They've just gotten to me more.

message 30: by Jena (new)

Jena *wondering if I can stop ROFLOLOL at Rae's post long enough to type my own*

I'm new in the m-m romance genre, as of ten days ago. "Hot Head" was my first read, and I fell in love with Griff and Dante. I chose that book, because so many people on Goodreads were just raving about it. From there, I went to Jack and D in "Zero at the Bone" and found more characters to love. Then I found some free short stories on GR, and I discovered some amazing authors! I'm also a Black Dagger Brotherhood fangirl, and it made me mad that Butch and V didn't get together. (I haven't gotten to Qhuinn and Blay yet.) I'm quickly discovering that for me to give a book five stars, I have to connect with the hearts of the characters. (HAWT sex doesn't hurt my feelings either.) But if you can make me CARE about your characters, then it's almost a sure bet your book is getting five stars.

As a blind reader/writer, books in general suffered from extreme limited availability for me until just a couple of years ago. So now that Kindles and IPhones have given me the world bookwise, I intend to see it all, if that makes sense. M-M or F-F romances wouldn't even have been an option back then, and now that they're available, I'm going to read them just as avidly as I've read F-M romances in the past.

I guess I'm just a romantic, because to me, love is beautiful, whether it's between two men, two women, or man and woman. And if it's love that's driving the sex, . . is there anything hotter?

Also for me as a reader, "forbidden love" has always brought with it an intensity that you don't find in other romances. From "Romeo and Juliet" on, when two people have to overcome so much just to express an emotion that others take for granted, it adds a shading of bittersweetness and poignancy to the story that just takes it to another level. Somebody mentioned in a previous post that two men showing such vulnerability is beautiful, and I want to second that!

I have read a few f-f romances, and discovered one author who puts as much into character development as some of my favorite m-m authors. But as I read more and more, I'll be interessted to see if there are differences and similarities in the ways in which authors write m-m, vs. f-f, vs. f-m stories.

So that's where I'm at, m-m romancewise, and I'm glad to be a part of such an interesting thread.

message 31: by Geoffrey (new)

Geoffrey Knight Lisa, WOW! What a great idea starting this discussion! I think the world is going to love this book. Suz Brockmann wrote the most amazing introduction that nearly had me in tears before making me jump up and cheer with pride! And all the other women in the book are nothing short of incredible! Their answers are diverse and honest and eye-opening as we discussed sex, marriage, family, religion, society, culture, discrimination and everything in between! Oh, and of course... HOT MEN!

And I love that Damon's Hot Head has had such an amazing impact. I went two-step dancing with Damon in New York last year. Have you guys ever two-stepped? It's real chest-against-chest, balls-on-thighs dancing...at least that's the gay version. And let me tell ya, Damon can DANCE! He promised me a book on the subject!

OkayKim This is weird. I recently was discussing with a friend about how much I've giving up on het romance in favor of M/M romance.
Was telling her that I was once asked by a gay man "why women love gay romance"?
I told her, at the time, I couldn't answer him.
Still can't really, except for, there's some things that I can relate too.
Curious to see if this book even comes close to what I've came up with as to why I'm so into gay romance. Lol

message 33: by Ilhem (last edited Aug 29, 2012 01:36AM) (new)

Ilhem Of course, the sex scenes in m/m romance are hot and feed voyeurist fantasies I didn't know I had. But since I also loved books with zero sex, there must be something else, too. M/F romance is quite fossilized : same story all around with few variants, stereotyped characters and relationships. Mostly, the male beats his pecs and the female swoons and that's it!
I love men and I am very touched by men in love : with a woman or a man. M/m romance gives me more of that, more of their vulnerability, more of I don't what that I find irresistible in men.
Mostly, I want well written stories and I find more of them in m/m romance than in m/f romance.
I will try to read f/f romance : the hot scenes will certainly not feed my kinks but there could be stories that could touch me and make me think.

Please can I pop in? Geoff was kind enough to include some of my crazed ramblings in the book, so hope it's okay - I'm soooo looking forward to reading it and so pleased this group exists! And I TOTALLY agree with whoever said Zero at the Bone is amazing - I loved it!! Have you read Clare London's novel Freeman - that's wonderful. A kind of crime noir feel with a great pair of heroes and a real page turner.

I think I've always been fascinated by m/m relationships, even when young - I used to read all the great classics - Jane Austen, the Brontes etc - and in my head the m/f pairing was actually an m/m one - is that weird?? I think it's because in my head men have more power and more exciting lives, but that probably just shows me as a child of the 60s and 70s, doesn't it!...

Definitely agree with the two cocks thing too :))

Richard is talking about his lover with his friend and..."Richard could feel Tina's eyes on him from the passenger seat, and he looked at her briefly. she had that unnerving, womanly gaze her mother, and for that matter, his mother always got when they watched a boy-child make what they perceived to be some sort of progress"
One other clue?

message 37: by Lara (new)

Lara Firstly, thanks Lisa for the invite to this book discussion. I saw the book pop up on my GR feeds a few days ago and have had a few comment sessions on it already. I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it or not, because honestly even though I know why I love m/m, the more I try to explain it to those who don't it seems the less they understand. Maybe this book will be the key to enlightenment world wide!

Second, holy shit Rae-I am in tears from laughing so hard at your post. Man, that was some good stuff.

Third, Dhes is totally correct. Two cocks (or three or four) are most definitely better than one. That there is just simple math.

Now, the story of my m/m journey. I came by it through the BDB as well (wonder if Ward knows the amount of women she has converted). I should have realized years ago when I first read Butch's and then Vishous' story and I was way more interested in their bromance then I was in the actual story. To me, they just belonged together plain and simple. It didn't actually click until I was living book after book for more story on Qhuinn and Blay though. I got so frustrated waiting for more on these two that I gave up on Ward's BDB world and read my first fanfic: Lovers Destined. Therefore, in my mind Qhuay has already happened. Don't know if I'll go back and read their 'official' story or not (that's a complete lie, I totally will because I just won't be able to resist).

From there, I read Faith & Fidelity and was totally hooked. Could not put it down. Could not go to bed. Told my husband what I was reading, and found it turned him on that I was so turned on by it. That only made it even more awesome. It has totally infused our sex life with a new level of openness. For over a year I've read nothing but m/m (obsessed much?). It all just finally made sense. I love men who love men. I love the drama and angst that the stories naturally have. I love that the sex is rough and raw and loving and natural all at the same time. Why do I love gay romance? I think the better question is why doesn't everybody? I love it because love between two men is just So. Damn. Good.

Rachel, I was just talking about this with someone. While we love reading and *seeing* hawt sex it's the emotional connection that really does it. It the different between romance and porn. The EMOTION. I like my porn as much as the next girl (and Geoffrey, I wouldn't have said that in print a year ago) but I want more. I often search for porn with more "feeling" *snort. Why don't they do that? They have the moves alright, how about the words. I'd think it'd be a whole new market for those poor, struggling producers. :/

Also, I'm so glad that you are able to join us Rachel and that technology has opened up this world for you. Knowing that, give me a little more hope for our future. When technology and humanity combine, it's a beautiful thing.

Geoffrey, you really honor us by jumping in here, thank you. As you can see, we're all very interested in what you have to tell us about, us. I personally think your genius is showing by addressing this subject. Timing is everything and not only did you nail that, but you also seem to want to recognize our (straight women's) role in advancing equality through reading, and understanding, gay romance. Genius.

NOW, if you'll just pop in every now and then with more about "chest to chest" and "balls on thighs" I think we'll all be f5'ing constantly.

Btw, Damon is a doll. Sexy as hell too. Now I have this vision of you two, two-stepping and I have to take a few deep breaths to calm. Thanks! I'll should refrain from shipping but I'm seeing KnightSuede or something like that.

I agree 100% with the difference between erotic fiction and porn - I really do want to have a good understanding of the emotional intimacy between characters - that's what does it for me. I already know what goes where(!) - what matters is how this changes the men involved and how they feel/think about it. :)

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog @Okay Kim, I'm dying to know too.

@Ilhem, you said "the male beats his pecs and the female swoons." Yeah, that doesn't happen in m/m, does it. Although, a swooning male could definitely get my heart rate up! When a man shows "that" much vulnerability, I'm swooning with him.

@Anne, it's great that you're here. I think having input from any of the actual "subjects" in the book is fantastic. I'm very interested that you switched classic characters to m/m. That has never occurred to me and probably why I read and don't write. Very cool.

Ooh, a bit of swooning never comes amiss ... And thanks for the welcome, Lisa - great to be here!

Not sure how cool it felt to always be switching m/f to m/m at the time, to be honest - I felt like a huge outsider for a long time, and it was only relatively recently that I realised it's simply an important part of me and something to be proud of indeed! That male voice in my head, Gawd bless 'im, has a lot to answer for, tee hee :))

Me too. As Alice said, "curiouser and curiouser." Was that Alice or that damn cat? o_o

Lara said, "Maybe this book will be the key to enlightenment world wide!

I have a hard time explaining it too and so often, I want to shout to the world, READ THIS.

I love that your husband is with you on this. Mine doesn't get it or me but he's very, very happy to 'accept' the residual effects. For god's sakes though, I've watched f/f porn with him you'd think he'd get what this is about but alas, no. Still, he's awfully forgiving about my book buying obsession :D

Dreamer
I am just turned on by m/m especially with some BDSM thrown in. I find m/f yucky unless the female is a ball-breaker, m/m/f is more acceptable. It would be interesting to have some statistics amongst Goodreads straight female readers. Anyone know how to initiate a poll?

Sun I'm a M/M addict because of LisaT & Barb. :)

Funny, I grew up super sheltered about gay relationships and then moved to SF and became more open minded. BUT, I've never actually CRAVED the details until I started reading M/M romance. It is so FREAKING HOT! Ha!

And, honestly, I was coming to find that a lot of "traditional" romance books had such annoying and weak female lead characters. I was getting frustrated. At least with M/M, I can have my PICK (one, the other, or both!) of who I drool over.

Is it wrong that I imagine myself the "wife" to all of my fav M/M couples? Party of 3 please. :)

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog Dreamer, would this do?

I would love to have numbers. Great idea!

Yeah, I'll give it a go..

Lisa Arbitrary - AttentionIsArbitrary M/M Blog Geeeez, you guys, my imagination is way under-active. Susan imagining herself as the "wife" is hilarious. Party of 3, hell may as well make it party of 5, right?

I didn't know I had so many questions about the physical aspect either, but then I've seen threads where people (women)ask how this works or that and I need to know more. We just had a discussion on one thread where two fantastic guys shared their descriptions of a male orgasm. They were both very vivid and descriptive and that was great. Now, I know most of these women wouldn't go up to a guy in RL and ask, so thank goodness for GR and m/m romance because this shit is important to understand.
