Is Family Bones any good? Sounds creepy, but as I have a copy from the author I need to read it.

I wasn't terribly impressed with it. The writing style was good but I didn't feel that the plot developed sufficiently, it wasn't scary or particularly spooky and I felt it had no resolved ending ! I'll be interested to know what you think if you decide to read it.

I've been a reading demon the past few days - I stayed up to the wee hours to finish the Harry Potter book last night and should have been able to sleep late this morn, but no such luck, so I worked outside for a couple of hours in the cool weather, then back to some short stories.

The Nalini Singh story was a novella in The Magical Christmas Cat anthology - it was a sweet Christmas story that IMO didn't live up to the possibilities she established at the beginning, probably because of the short-story setting, which is why I seldom read anthologies. I got this one from the library and was so glad I didn't spend money on it. I was told by several readers that I really should read the NS novella before Angels' Blood - otherwise I probably would have skipped it. But at least I was smart enough to work it into a couple of challenges!

I was very good at writing reviews for a while, but lately I've gotten lazy about it **hangs head in shame**. In fact, some books are still on my 'currently-reading' list altho I finished them awhile ago - they're waiting for their review. So I hereby promise **raises hand in solemn vow** that I will try to write a timely review for every book. (Did you notice how I weaseled out of making a binding vow?!)
I do usually show stars by my books to indicate how much I liked it, but it appears that I've become inconsistent in that as well, so I'll go back in this thread and add stars to my latest book listing (post #695)
Edited: I added ratings to post 695

currently reading Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder. This is the first full-sized fictional novel (not a novella or children's book) that I've started reading since my brother's death.
