Finished my free space book! 7/30/12 3 stars. It was an OK end to the trilogy, I wish the romance would have been played out better between Roiben and Kaye. As it was it felt like he was all remote, started telling her how much he loved her, and then was all remote again. I could never truly by into the romance as genuine. I did like the appearance of Val and Ravus though!

Much better than the previous installments. I just can't seem to decide whether I hate the fact that djinns can kick Jo's ass or like it that she manages to do fine, even when she has limits. On to the next one!

Review: I really enjoyed the third book in the Parasol Protectorate series, better than the second in my opinion. The setting in an alternative Victorian London works very well and I feel is what makes the books about Alexia great. How the vampires and werewolves were incorporated into society but not in other countries, the visit to Italy providing a good contrast and new ways for Alexia and her friends to get in trouble :-)

Review: Fund this an unusual idea for a book, it is Urban Fantasy but there is no paranormal in there - it's all about "highcaps" people with special powers. In other series these would be the Psychics or something. In Justine's world the Highcaps are feared for what they can do, well if people even believe they exist. As a hypochondriac what could Justine have to do with this world? She is drawn into the "disillusionist" world and all it's dangers. Well worth a read but don't expect vampires or werewolves!
