I'm glad to hear it Danielle. Although I enjoyed the last one, I still didn't think it was the best in the series.

I wonder if Suzanne will write Lopez story. I hope Dave is in Lopez story. I love how Lopez calls Dave, Dr. Malkoff. He has respect for the man.

I also wonder if Suzanne will write Jazz's story.

She better not hook either man up with Beth.

My baby Sam didn't appear to be the Sam that I know in Hot Pursuit. Alyssa was off as well. I don't know if it's parenthood that made them this way, but the way that man was talking in the front of Sam. The old Sam would have hurt him the first time, he opened his mouth.

Plus, Alyssa's character seem off, especially, when she was focused more on her work than Ash.

I love how Sam bonded with Ash. In Into The Fire, we see the bonding too. I figure that's Suzanne way of giving Sam the father/son experienced he'd missed out on.

Chaeya | 454 comments I'm reading "Dracula, My Love" by Syrie James which I picked up at the RT, and met and spoke with the author who was dressed in a kicking Victorian black velvet dress. This covers the secret journals of Mina Harker, the story of Dracula told through her POV. I can't put this bugger down because I've always loved the story Dracula. I've been stealing moments to read it and I'm halfway through this almost 500-page book. It's well written, no sex so far and I don't think there will be much, it's just a good old fashioned compelling read. It's available in print and on Kindle. This book is definitely a keeper, especially for those rainy days where you like to sit with a cup of tea hearing the pitter patter of the ran on the window.

I just finished Smooth Play by Regina Hart and I really enjoyed it. I liked the characters. They were down to earth and realistic in their flaws. I loved the grace that Andrea shows. She has made mistakes in the past, and learned from them. Troy was actually a really nice guy, with some vulnerabilities that tempered his tendency to be unforgiving. I'm not a sports person, but I actually loved the basketball aspects of this story. Very well done. I recommend it.

Theodora Taylor (theodorat) I'm reading Colters' Woman -- about to give up on it. Too much sex and too little story with ridiculous characters.

message 88: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir | 1456 comments Right now I am reading Chimera (Chimera, #1) by Rob Thurman by Rob Thurman. I love her Cal Leandros series. This one is more science-fiction, less Urban Fantasy. But it is chock full of her trademark dark, biting humor and the Korsak bros are just as dedicated to each other as Cal & Niko from the other series.

I'll probably be doing Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane next for a buddy/group read for another GR group.

Empi Baryeh (empibaryeh) | 41 comments I'm reading The Things We Do For Love (Harlequin Superromance) by Margot Early . It's one of several books I bought like two years ago that I never got to read cos I had to relocate for work and couldn't take all the books (so I've finally cracked - I'm getting me a Kindle for Christmas). I just started the book so I'll keep you posted

Shadowlight (Kyndred, #1) by Lynn Viehl and Dreamveil (Kyndred, #2) by Lynn Viehl and Frostfire (Kyndred, #3) by Lynn Viehl . Still have to get the fourth one,.

But I decided to go lighter and I am now reading Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson, #1) by Molly Harper which is funny as heck.

Gwen, what did you think of Fever? I heard it has some objectionable content as far as racism.

message 96: by Gwen (new)

Gwen (gwenk) | 201 comments @Lady Danielle. Yes it does. I'm still reading, but what I've come across so far, I don't like at all. When I first read it, I was like oh no, please tell me this person is not like that. I won't say who it was, so as not to spoil anything. In fact, it had started to grate on my nerves really bad the further I kept reading. Then she explained the reason for it as far as one of the characters was concerned, which did make sense. There was no hope as far as the other character was concerned. There wasn't an ounce of care for other human beings that was of a different race in him. I totally disliked him the more and more I read, because I knew everytime he opened his mouth it would be something racially insensitive coming out.

I've never read anything by her before. It is a well written novel. Good story, good plot, a few mysteries, lots of suspense, and a complex hero and heroine if you can get over the racial undertones.

Thanks for the information, Gwen! I might give it a try one day, with an awareness of those issues.

message 98: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir | 1456 comments I finally decided to try reading a Kristen Ashley book. So far I have read Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley - This is a 3 star mainly because the hero just bugged.

And Wild Man (Dream Man, #2) by Kristen Ashley which was seriously wonderful a high 4-star.

I am now reading Law Man (Dream Man, #3) by Kristen Ashley which is the third in the 'Dream Man' series.

I must say even though the writing needs some polish and I can see places where the books could use some editing, the author's voice and storytelling is just great. I am totally sucked in. And I love how nobody is rich, just regular middle-class folks. The heroine in the book I am reading now is a mattress salesperson. I am getting a kick out of that!

If you really dig over-alpha heroes, this author serves them up. Way up.
