Ariel (arielnicole) Currently reading The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden. Definitely A LOT better than I thought it would be! If you like YA with a twist... read this book!

message 853: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Has finished Bloodstone - The Guardian's Curse - J. Michael Radcliffe Was a good story. Liked the characters and the way it moved along. Loved the 3 small short stories as well. Now I am going to read Falling - Cecilia Gray.

I love The Book Thief. One of my very favorite books I read last year.

message 856: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I just finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I had it on hold on the library and had to read it now because I know it'll be reserved forever. Can I just say "wow". Talk about an emotional roller coaster. I do recommend it. I'm going to start Divergent by Veronica Roth.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth

HZar Worth | 66 comments Good evening everyone, if anybody wants to add our breakthrough novella The Canarsie Flash to their list, we would be honored. It's $.99 on regular kindle and free borrow with amazon prime. We spent 10 years writing it and edited it 3 times. Best wishes, Hunter and Osa. Also we are always looking to add new friends here.

What did u think of the silver linings playbook?"

i ma not sure. it wasn't what i thought it would be. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters in the book. i felt it lacked a lot of insight on how Pat was the way he was and I feel that that should of been a bigger focus in the book. one little paragraph about what had happened to him was not enough for me. I think there should have been more interaction with his "ex" wife. I also think that Pat was a bit childish considering he was a teacher, i know that brain injuries can cause this behavior but the story didn't develop enough to show that. i heard the movie was very different and it sound like i will like the movie more than the book which for me will be a huge change.

i loved Gone Girl except for the ending. i feel that she rushed the ending. i have Divergent on hold now.

In my opinion, it's better than the Hunger Games (no one beat me up for that lol) ... and Insurgent is even better! Enjoy reading :)

The hunger games were published first and as I have said many times I love the first book published when theme books flood the market after a hit. I mean look there was Twilight then all kinds of vampire novels came out. Same thing here Hunger games then Divergent. It is a cycle. However in this case I will admit both books are well written and entertaining but I couldn't choose between them. I don't think one is better than the other

message 868: by Marian (new)

Marian Ruiz I really envy you guys. :/
You can read all the books that you want on ebook, or buy the books on bookstores.. and it is unfortunate for me, because im living in somewhat a small town, and books are really expensive (for me). I dont have a tab or an app on my phone too. The books that you're recommending just makes me so jealous oh God T_T

message 869: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 2 comments Significance series by Shelly Crane I highly recommend them :) They are making it into a movie! Jeremy Sumpter is going to play Caleb!!!! Yay

message 870: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I've finished Falling - Cecilia Gray. I loved the characters that are like gods. How 1 person fell in love with an immortal (that she never knew), finding out her sister is a witch. Loved the Paranormal Romance style of it as well. I am listening to Great Expectations - Charles Dickens (my audio for the month) and reading Men at Work: Quick Read - Mike Gayle (A Quick Read) that hubby didn't fancy reading.

I am also reading Poetical Works: Tennyson.

The related book recommendation is “Reading in the Brain: The Science and Evolution of a Human Invention” by author Stanislas Dehaene.

Fascinating stuff for science lovers and non-scientists alike!

message 874: by Dan (new)

Dan Lutts (dan_lutts) I'm currently reading Rick Riordan's The Mark of Athena. It's good, but I don't like it as much as the other two. I think a little bit of Coach Hedge goes a loooong way. :-)

Shannon | 18 comments Just finished The Fall. Very good book. I would recommend it to anyone that likes a SCARY vampire novel. Its definitely not Twilight material.
Now im diving into Gone Girl. Ive been hearing amazing things about this book and im beyond excited to read it:)

Angel Lepire | 14 comments Last night I started reading The Afterlife of Billy Fingers How My Bad-Boy Brother Proved to Me There's Life After Death by Annie Kagan and it is an excellent book. I would recommend going into it with a very open mind. If you liked anything like A Course in Miracles or Conversations with God, you will love it. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, give it a try anyway. Not a religious book. Just a very easy read and it makes you think!

I really enjoyed this book too. I thought it was witty and entertaining. I'm waiting on the next book to arrive in my letterbox. Really looking forward to it.

Last night I read Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee and just loved it. Well written and subtle, leaves you curious about characters and backstory rather than telling you everything in a big rush. Intelligent writing.

I was wondering, has anyone read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet? Or should I push it down my to-read list?"

I just read it for a book club. It's one of those slow-to-get-going books that surprises you in the end with its emotional intensity - if you can make it that far...sweet coming-of-age love story set in Seattle against historical background of Japanese internment camps. I liked it - but reviews on GoodReads are very mixed.

message 887: by Emily (new)

Emily (emkathh) I'm currently reading Linger. Not sure if I'm gonna like it though; I finished Shiver yesterday and the characters was almost unbearably boring and I didn't really see what the point of the whole book was. But hopefully, Linger will be better! If you have read it, did you like it? Did you think it was better than Shiver?

message 892: by Libby (new)

Libby Broadbent Just read "The Book" by Jessica Bell. It's a novella, read it in under two hours and LOVED IT! Reminiscent of "The Room", and "Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time." Well done, made me teary eyed at the end, not what you expect. Highly recommended! http://www.amazon.com/The-Book-ebook/...

message 893: by Libby (new)

Libby Broadbent Aaargh! Just want to say I am overwhelmed with books! I want to read every single title mentioned here! Except maybe for the Kafka, just because I read it way back when the earth was cooling during my university days. Delicious, but I want "Gone Girl" next! Just finished "Left Early, Took my Dog" and really enjoyed it but I got confused with the characters sometimes. That may just be my life intruding though. Oh, to read with no distractions! Keep listing titles, my dears... my kindle is limitless! :)

Tee I just finished reading The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. What a tremendously heavy story. But so well told. It's shaken me to the core.
Now, I'm about to start The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Another heavy story, as I've been told.
