This is a popular sci fi series about teens dealing with a horrible virus. Not obvious from the cover, but the MC is half African American.

Also dystopian, some heavier themes about sexism, sexual exploitation of girls in society, etc. There is discussion of rape in the book, but nothing graphic.....

I was also tempted to mention "The Summer Prince" since it is so thought provoking, set in Brazil, heavily dystopian with lots of relevant social themes, but it is is also *way* inappropriate for 10/11 year old girls. The sexual themes would just be too much, at least with that level of description. I mention it in case you ever do a group for older girls, like 14+, it would be a good choice!

This may be a bit too mature/about a controversial topic. I read it in 6th grade and the book itself is fine, no scenes or information that scared or confused me. It offers plenty to be discussed and questioned on both a personal and societal level. It is sci-fi. I found it to be an empowering book that I really connected with.
