This is listed as YA but I truly think it's more adult historical fiction. About two members of the British ATA, one of whom is a spy, but the book is mostly about their friendship and about how Britain's social order was changing during WWII. It does give some details about Nazi torture, so you may want to check it out ahead of time.

One world is the 1930s, another world is under water, another world is in the future, etc. Not sure if that would be something but it sort of blends historical with futuristic and different cultures. No sex at all. No religion that I'm aware of and not gory violence.
