This book is bit old (circa 1990s) so probably some of its info is outdated and has since been disproven or modified. I believe the author is a physicist, but I read this when I was 16, so probably any lay person can understand it.

Some lit. guy's dissertation-turned-into a-book. His whole thesis is how art and science had a reciprocal dialog during the modernist era. There's a neat chapter on time where the author claims that scientific/mathematical breakthroughs on time where influenced by artists and writers, who were already conceiving of time as "relative."
