She volunteered as a child victim’s advocate for nearly a decade and was the Enough Abuse Campaign Coordinator at The Safe Center on Long Island, New York.

She is the associate editor of Total Nutrition: The Only Guide You'll Ever Need, and author of the "Medical Nutritional Therapy for Anemia" chapter in Krause's Food; Nutrition Therapy, 13th Edition.

Her personal achievements include summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa, rescuing Binah, her now ten-year-old Havanese, and Bella, her two-year-old Aussie doodle, and publishing her award-winning debut novel, The Ropes That Bind. Her second novel, My Brother Javi: A Dog’s Tale, just won its fourth book award.
