Either disappointed by a good idea with poor execution, or ruined by problematic content. I don’t think the book should be recommended. 3 - Good. I enjoyed it, but it didn’t particularly stand out for me. I think other people may find it a worthwhile read! Books in this category may have dragged, or had some repetitive or derivative content, but overall the author did a solid job. Just because a book isn’t a favorite doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good time. 4 - Great! I really had an enjoyable time with this one. I might spend a lot of time thinking about it. It’s not a favorite necessarily, but sometimes it might be! Only one or two issues with it (killed my favorite character, for example). I might read it again. Sometimes I might specify “high 4 or low 4” to demonstrate just how close it was to a 5. 5 - I will be accepting no notes on these books. I lived in them. I cried with them. There might be very minor things I’d change about the story but overall, perfection. I can’t wait to lose my memory of them so I can read them again as if it were the first time....more
