Goodreads asked Bernard L. Dillard:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Bernard L. Dillard I stop. I don't fight against myself. I take it as a sign that there is no more writing for the day. I don't fight it because it will lead to output that's forced. During that time away, I just begin observing my surroundings again and eavesdropping on unsuspecting conversations to see if something can spark my interest (a phrase, a word, a smell, etc). From there, I start again with renewed vigor and direction.
