Brenda Yes, it absolutely is. Jenna Evans Welch comes from a strong Christian background, so there's lots of wholesomeness here, but she doesn't bring religion into the story. There is no moral preachiness to be found. It is just simply clean, wistful fun.
M♡ I would say yes. There is some romance but nothing over the top. It's a good book and I think some grade 7s would really enjoy.
Taffie Schmidt Yes! My 6th grader loved it and so did I.
Talah Should i read the book or watch the movie first?

Brooke Yes. I, in fact, read this book in grade seven at the age of twelve. It depends on what he/she enjoys. If they like what you'd expect most seventh-graders to like (fast romances, a light inner conflict, exploration through a new place, comparative humor) then this book is your girl. However, I, myself, who especially fancied a tear-inducing emotional conflict at the time (I was in a state of depression at the time and wished to relate to something), found that Evans Welch did not elaborate enough on Lena's grief for there to be much of a true conflict. But if your child is a light-hearted, neurotypical kid, shoot for it. That had to do completely with my own issues.
