Hi :D I would like to ask you about your favourite animes and if any of them influenced your books? I am very excited about your new series. Can't wait.
Elise Kova
I LOVE anime! For how much I love anime I really should have a better answer to this question...
I'm not going to say that anime hasn't influenced my books, because that'd be silly. Art isn't created in a vacuum and everything I make is a product of the experiences I've had in some way, no matter if I'm twisting those experiences into something idealized or otherwise. So I'm sure anime has influenced my books in some way just as other books I've read, or various music, or the tea shop I write in, or the fashion I see on the street. Sometimes when I'm editing I can see all of these little things, and sometimes I can't. If anything, I think the lack of fantasy anime perhaps influenced me? I want more purely fantasy anime, and other than a few notable exceptions it's not a genre we see very often... Either way, I don't have an anime that I can say influenced me in XYZ way for ABC book.
That being said, favorite anime!
Some of my all-time favorites are... Revolutionary Girl Utena, Mawaru Penguindrum, Your Lie in April, 5cm Per Second, Howl's Moving Castle, Shirobako, Samurai X, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Hotarubi no Mori e, My Neighbors the Yamadas.... and a bunch more :3

Hi, Elise- another couple of questions :) 1) Where did you come up with the character names? They're really unique and I'm just curious about the origin. 2) In the books Vhalla is said to have dark brown hair but in the coverart it's light brown/blonde? 3) Do you ever go to anything like Geekycon or do appearances? I'd love to know how to get signed copies :)

Hi,I was wondering why all the nobles look down on common people, going back when prince called vhalla "worm"?why did he do it? She is educated and literal working girl. She doesn't live like a beggar, more like a middle class citizen. He should be like a father to his nation,if he is so smart he shoud know that "no farmers-no nobles"- logic so I don't understand where all this contempt is coming from?
