Terry I caught that too, and it was one of a handful of things that bothered me. I listened to the book, and the letter reading took over 30 minutes - that's an AWFUL lot of words to fit on the three pages in length the analyst said the letter was...
Kristin I'm so glad someone else picked up on this! I loved the book and so I'm willing to let it go but, yes, that was a pretty glaring oversight by the author. I kept waiting for an explanation as to how the pad of paper on which Bernadette wrote her letter ended up back in her cabin on the Allegra and it never came. So, I think it was a definite flaw in the narrative.

Also, several of the phrases that the forensic analyst supposedly deciphered never actually appeared in the letter. (Unless we're supposed to assume that the analyst incorrectly deciphered them.)
Isabel C. YES! I think it's a flaw, i also loved it but that made no sense.
Latika Rani Relieved I am not the only one with that question. I think it was a flaw.
Beth Gallaspy That drove me crazy and was a huge flaw! I blame the editors as much as the author.
Aseel Almolliyeh I’m glad I’m not the only one confused about this
Jessica Benzing I came looking for this answer as well. I’m glad there are others just as confused as I am!
