Melissa Horton asked this question about Where'd You Go, Bernadette:
I loved this book, however I am confused as to Bernadette's final letter to Bee. When Bernadette's returning ship is searched they find the notepad 'on the desk'. However, once the letter is revealed it was clearly written from Palmer Station (after she had left the H&H Allegra). Is there a flaw in the eventual unraveling of the plot, or were there two letters?

I loved the book and so I'm willing to let it go but, yes, that was a pretty glaring oversight by the author. I kept waiting for an explanation as to how the pad of paper on which Bernadette wrote her letter ended up back in her cabin on the Allegra and it never came. So, I think it was a definite flaw in the narrative.

Also, several of the phrases that the forensic analyst supposedly deciphered never actually appeared in the letter. (Unless we're supposed to assume that the analyst incorrectly deciphered them.)(less)
