Brian Keene:
What was your inspiration for The Thirteen? Why did you decide to connect them and the Labyrinth throughout your various novels and short stories? A lot of my fellow fans are curious about what motivated you to create this unique mythology.
Brian Keene
I think it was my early influences -- Marvel and DC Comics and the fact that their stories all took place in a shared universe where events in one book impacted events in another. Also, Stephen King's Dark Tower series (the first 2 volumes of which I read as a teenager). But I knew from the very first story that all of this tied together.

When are you going to write another zombie..... LOL, I can't ask you that question with a serious face. No seriously my real question is about your second self published short story collection called "All Dark, All of the Time: The Complete Short Fiction of Brian Keene vol 2." I notice you made Adam Senft's dog in Dark Hollow timid and afraid of his own shadow. Also, you had Smokey mention in City of the Dead that he, too, had a dog that was timid and afraid of it's own shadow. You also mentioned in Dark Hollow that writers draw upon real life. So, did you have a dog that was timid and afraid of it's own shadow? A childhood pet, perhaps? Weird question, I know.
