I recently stumbled upon "Happiness Falls" and was blown away by its intelligence and your BRILLIANT writing! I immediately picked up "Miracle Creek" and it completely bowled me over. As a Korean-American mom of teens, I relate deeply to your books' themes. This year I want to read 100 books, then write my own next year. You've quickly catapulted in status to one of my favorite authors of all time. More soon please?

Hi Leah! Thank you so much for writing. What a generous, wonderful message. As someone who started writing later in life (in my 40s), I wish you the best of luck and lots and lots of resilience in starting your own writing journey. I'm still touring and doing lots of events, but I hope to start my next book soon. Thank you so much again!

thank you for sharing your book w/us!
also those courtroom scenes are my favorite. i esp loved the 1st time Shannon told Elizabeth "sit back and enjoy" and proceeded to tear the witness apart. so entertaining! (shannon is the greatest). anyways my question: Did you do trial litigation as an attorney? what was it like writing the courtroom scenes? easy, very familiar, etc.?

Hi Angie - I loved you book. It touched on so many issues we all deal with - or know someone who does: motherhood, and what is right and wrong and who is to judge; the depths we go to, to protect our children; the differences in cultures; etc. You came to the US at age 11. Did your father come with you or did he stay in Korea like Pak did? And if he did stay - what impact did that have on your life?

Angie- Glad you liked my review. I see you are reading Two Nights in Lisbon by Chris Pavone- I've already ordered it. Have you read his first book, The Expats? I saw interesting cultural parallels between his characters and the family in Miracle Creek. There are assimilation steps and barriers involved in being part of an American community in Arkansas and an expat community in Luxemburg.
