Reading "Masquerade in Lodi" today, for the ninth time, it occurs to me that so far you've given us only one night of Penric's residence in Lodi (I don't know how long he stayed there). Do you think you might go back there sometime, or are you done with it? It would be nice to see the characters again, if they happen to fit into some other story.

Pen's times in Lodi, Martensbridge, and his shaman-student year in Easthome are all still on the table, but in addition to needing the right idea, it needs to be one that fits in without throwing off later-set stories written earlier. This is tricky, like swapping out one card in the second layer of a six-layer house of cards.

Why do you think Aral wasn't more of a father figure to Ivan? How would it have worked if Ivan had become count of the Vorkosigan district? Name changed? District name change? There's already a Count Vorpatril... Martya named after anyone? Which "milady" paid for Roic's vacation time in WG - Cordelia or Ekaterin? What size were the black and white tiles?

Reading 'Mirror Dance', I was just out of Premed, and our psychology professor had vividy described anorexia nervosa, where the adolescent uses her own body to obtain control that the overbearing family otherwise denies her. Mark's coping mechanism is quite similar, regaining a measure of control that way. Did you come up with this on your own, or did you actually use current research? Both would be quite impressive!

I received a gift of Ivory Vikings -- it has the story of a man named Inleif, the first elected bishop of Iceland. He went to be consecrated after his election, but not knowing the ropes he went first to the Holy Roman Emperor. As part of his entourage he packed along a live polar bear as a gift, which he left with the emperor; did you know about Inleif and his bear when you added Fafa to the Hallowed Hunt?
