Reading 'Mirror Dance', I was just out of Premed, and our psychology professor had vividy described anorexia nervosa, where the adolescent uses her own body to obtain control that the overbearing family otherwise denies her. Mark's coping mechanism is quite similar, regaining a measure of control that way. Did you come up with this on your own, or did you actually use current research? Both would be quite impressive!

Mark came mainly from, well, insight into Mark. He is largely his own invention, in more ways than one. (Also from my own notions about the fundamental biological bases of behavior.) Since the book was written in the early 90s -- 1992 - 93 -- I'll have to acquit me of using "current" research. Or even then-current research, beyond what leaked in from the general culture.

Hi, I was just wondering if you've heard of or read Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell? I really enjoyed it, primarily because it felt a lot like Vorkosigan saga. Not in a derivative sense, but more in the sense of general feeling I got from it. I later learnt that Ms Maxwell is a fan of your work (and of Georgette Heyer's work, too), so I just felt like I had to put it on your radar. Cheers!

I am trying to find the title of a book I read maybe 10 years ago. Probably a harlequin presents. All I remember is that a woman that wants a baby possibly hires a man to spend months at her house, seems like a remote farm with land, to get her pregnant. I think he was a bit of a stranger. I do remember her getting her cycle and his thoughts on how pitiful she was and that it drained her energy. Thx for any info?
