I was very impressed by the female characters in the book. They were strong, independent, sassy, talented and smart. Where did the inspiration for such strong female characters come from?

I'm surrounded by strong, brilliant, opinionated women, not least of whom is my wife, who does much of the very heavy lifting in thinking through and editing these books.
I've also done a lot of adventure racing -- a sport requiring the participants to race in a team, day and night, through viciously rugged terrain, for days on end. My teams are usually co-ed, and my female teammates have provided plenty of fodder for the women among the Kettral. (Thanks Bex, Katie, Steph!)

I see that you are working on the third installment in the series (Hope it is going with a full momentum), so why wasn't The Providence of Fire published the week it was finished? Or anytime before the scheduled January,2015? I am asking this because, the suspense is digging at me a little bit. Oh, and the fantasy genre needs thrillers like your work, kudos to you!!
