Lark
Lark asked Brian Staveley:

Out of Valin, Kaden, and Adare, do you have a favorite? (whether that means favorite character or storyline that you like to write). And why, of course. :)

Brian Staveley Kaden is the hardest to write, especially in Book Two. After all, good characters are built out of their constituent emotions, and Kaden has worked very hard to scrub away all of his emotion. This difficult applies to all the monks, of course, but Kaden is the only one who is a POV character.

By the end of the second book, I was enjoying writing Adare the most. Unlike the brothers, she's a realist. She understands the need to compromise, even when those compromises cut her to the bone.

And outside of the three siblings, my favorite character by far to write is Pyrre, who has a much larger role in The Providence of Fire.
