Goodreads asked Gregory Ulseth:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Gregory Ulseth You get to decide what happens. The ability to make a character you love do things you hate is incredible. Also sometimes when you are developing a character in notes you have a clear picture of what you see them doing in the narrative, but when you sit down a write the actual book you have to make them do something else. Its that sensation of knowing who someone is, yet genuinely being surprised by their actions just like a reader would be. Its thrilling!
