You get to decide what happens. The ability to make a character you love do things you hate is incredible. Also sometimes when you are developing a character in notes you have a clear picture of what you see them doing in the narrative, but when you sit down a write the actual book you have to make them do something else. Its that sensation of knowing who someone is, yet genuinely being surprised by their actions just like a reader would be. Its thrilling!

I've always been a fan of Narnia. But really, I'm not sure exactly what I would do. Just a really big C. S. Lewis fanboy and enjoy this world so much.

I'll probably read John Scalzi's Old Man's War series again.....I need a little more variety in my life to be honest. Any recommendations?

The doctor ran to the next patient. It was already in her veins.

Honestly, I just wait a couple of days before I sit down and try again. I'll intentionally read more, or go for a run, or just do something else. Eventually I start coming up with the ideas that connect the dots in my plot and make it easier to write.

Some days you will hate it. Some days you will feel overwhelmed. Somedays you will feel that your best writing is garbage. Somedays you will feel that you don't know the next step. WRITE ANYWAY. Keep writing and trust in your words. Know that your story is worth telling. There has never been a book that is universally loved, don't try to make your book that way. Stay true to who you are.

Well, I am focusing on getting 'We Have a Plan,' released at the moment, but I have already drafted a few paragraphs from the next part of the series, or anthology, or chronicles, or whatever it will technically be. I'm playing around with titles and I'm really liking, 'A Line is Drawn,' but who knows?

To be honest, I sat down one day on my phone on the little microsoft word app and started to type. Well, at first it was really exciting because I would do it while I sat with my daughter in her bed while she fell asleep and I typed a page or two at a time, but then it became a habit and slowly I got to 50 pages, then 100 and soon enough I had my entire rough draft. After that point I decided that I couldn't just stop there so I refined it and refined it. It was an addiction that I couldn't shake and eventually I got to the point where I was absolutely committed and nearly 18 months later, I'm just waiting for my proof copy to arrive in Korea (nearly a month delivery for some reason) before I actually release it!

Most of my ideas have been long in development. I have always brainstormed and talked with my friends and family about conjectural history and well, one day I decided to put my thinkers toward the future. My book, 'We Have a Plan,' is heavily rooted in my faith and I did so to intentionally open the discussion to what the average religious Catholic would consider in a scifi/dystopian setting. Our religion won't fade away and sure, I'll be the first to admit that my scenario is highly unlikely (mostly because of assumptions I made during my world building) but it is something I made to be relatable.
