As a fan of your Vorkosigan universe and also as a big geeky nerd who loves sci-fi RPGs, do you use Traveller or other games as inspiration for your universe? Incidentally, the GURPS sourcebook was my gateway (pun intended) into your wonderful series several years ago. Love that book as well and am forever grateful for coming across it.

Nope, I missed gaming generationally -- when it was coming on as an activity, I was deep into raising kids and booting up my writing career, leaving less than zero time for anything that didn't directly serve same. So I missed gaming as an influence. Although I can see how it has affected other writers and media, which makes for an interesting study in narrative modes.
But I'm glad GURPS led you to my books I was hoping it might work like that. Btw, GURPS Vorkosigan sourcebook author Genevieve Cogman has gone on to her own writing career with the The Invisible Library series, which you might find fun.

I know it's just over a 12 hour flight, but ever thought of coming to New Zealand to give a reading? You could go to Australia too. Although it is hot and has many snakes, actually if memory serves 7 or 8 of the top killers in the world. Aotearoa, land of the long white cloud, and the only thing you have to worry about is sheep.

Listening for the first time the audio version of the Penric novellas, I found a great similarity between Desdemona, and how Penric views her as unique being and repository of knowledge through centuries (and what a waste it would be to lose it) AND the Trill like Dax from Star Trek Universe. Is it a coincidence or not ?
