As long as you use your lady talk decoder device, you should be able to understand.

The whole point of books is to live experiences that aren't your own. As a man you would probably benefit from learning about what it's like to be a woman in a man's profession, childbirth and miscarriages, and being a mom. (Also, if you're white, learning about being an Asian American is an added bonus.) Ali's humor is great regardless of your gender. Please confront your privilege and if there's something in her book you don't get, I'm sure there are plenty of women in your life who would be happy to talk with you.
Jess
You're allowed to read it, but the book costs extra for guys.

I would love to see Ali answer this question!

Love this book, as a guy.
And I believe any guy can enjoy this book. When we read a book, it is like living/experiencing another person's life. Ali's life is so different form mine, or, from most of us Asians, or, from most of us human beings.
As a male Asian, I laughed through her stare contest, cried with her miscarriage experience. As a father, I can relate to her exhaustion in taking care of little kids. Her seemingly-vulgar (and vulgar indeed) language stunned me again and again, but her sharing was so honest and true.
Please have a read. No one will ever regret.

If you're interested in knowing more about Ali, life as an immigrant, Asian American (untrue) stereotypes, her work, her life, her gory motherhood journey, and bursting out laughing on every page, then regardless of your gender, you should be good.

I would say guys (and white guys especially) should make the time and effort to read this. I'm going to recommend my boyfriend read it when I'm done because it will be easier to have Ali explain things than for me to.

It wasn't a problem reading it as a guy. If you are going to get grossed out by her describing giving birth and the graphic way she describes the after effects (I don't remember my wife leaking the level Ali did, and Ali had a C section, so I thought some of her stuff was exaggerated.) then probably skip that chapter. Overall it is a pretty funny read and the afterward is by her husband, so you do get 1 chapter of a guy's perspective.
Nicole
Naw, you're good. Read it, you don't have to be a woman to understand.
