Goodreads asked Ed Mitchell:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Ed Mitchell Well it helps to be a masochist that loves pain being inflicted on himself. Or being a hermit that hides away from people typing away about his imaginary friends and enemies.

But there are those stellar moments when a women or man has read one of my stories and I learn that my words touched their heart, or caused them to feel empathy for a character, or scared them because the story "could really happen". It's at those times that I feel Ive created the magic, just like the authors I read and admired as a kid, while I hid out from having to go home and face what I didn't want to face.
